(Author: Hello all. Watched two movies so sorry for the late release. Last chapter, Elgar finally becomes a student at Tyrannical Dragon Academy. Thus, Elgar now goes to receive his classes and the academy life begins. I hope you all enjoyed learning more about Elgar's past as Zodimat. I'm satisfied with how powerful Elgar has become and will now focus on him learning new magic spells and qi techniques. Enjoy.)
Chapter 17: Dorm 1397
Elgar arrived at the registration office and displayed his status card and half-token. Many people were shocked as they saw Elgar's wings and cautiously examined his class requests. They also inquired of his genetics to suggest classes that offered knowledge on how to use his racial powers.
Thus, his classes were decided and Elgar looked at the schedule. Attendance was voluntary and Elgar only chose classes he cared about as classes were every day except for the weekends. Weekend classes were once a week and considered specialized classes. There are thirteen months and five hundred and twenty two days a year with nine days a week. Week days were from the second day to the eighth day with every day lasting twenty four hours. The days were not named as each country had their own name for each day and were just classified as numbers globally with the first and ninth days recorded as the weekend days.
Elgar stared at his schedule and sighed as he couldn't get all the classes he wanted as each class was two hours. He took three weekday classes and two specialized classes. He took no class on summoning magic as he had his books from the Maltos library as well as his lessons from Tristan.

"Three regular weekday classes as required and two specialized classes based on your genetics are mandatory. Choosing to go to any of them or adding another class is up to you," the attendant said as she gave him his schedule. "Your classes have been scheduled based on your rank. Please note that Qi Combat is one of many classes available for warriors, but focuses on combat and is accessible to all warriors capable of using any type of element qi. Demon classes are based on lineage and only privileged or demons of noble blood can take the Royal Demon Magic class. Dragon magic is taught one-on-one and your professor is Draxil Rork, the proctor you met earlier, by personal request. There is no set standard of learning for special classes as each race and branch have their own strengths and weaknesses. You are the first to pass from application group four under rank 9 mage, Draxil Rork. Your application group is the last group of this year's recruitment process. Four groups were tested over the course of four weeks before the school term. Your classes will begin next week."
"As a student of the academy, you are required to live in the dorms. As you are classified as a mage and a warrior, you will be assigned to Dorm 1397 on the third floor of the first year male dormitory," another attendant said as she handed him a key. "Please note that dorm assignments are made regardless of rank. The first floor is for warriors only with four people per room. The second floor is for mages only with four people per room. The third floor has three people per room with each room four times the size of the rooms on the other two floors. This is because the academy is not responsible for teaching students how to cultivate mana and qi and requires the students to become capable of doing so on their own. Spirit energy is comprised of mana and qi, both having different applications. You have been verified as capable of using both types of spirit energies. Please note that fights are not allowed unless it is done in the academy coliseum under the supervision of one of the faculty. Students are allowed to graduate upon reaching the seventh rank. Those who fail to reach the seventh rank after thirty years are expelled. Good luck and learn well."
Elgar nodded and thanked the attendant. He realized that there was no tuition at the academy as the academy was responsible for overlooking the Chasm of Chaos and were the first line of defense for the city. Elgar didn't have a problem with money as he had looted so many storage bags and spatial rings. He moved his seven books on necromancy to his black spatial ring with the white runes and headed toward the academy store. There, students could buy or sell their wares to the academy or at the main plaza to other students.
He sold many magical items and spirit grass as he didn't need them and bought materials needed for his exploding vials, spirit pills for qi condensation, and mana potions. After all, he did learn alchemy and it was easier to make your own items than buy or find them. He now had only three items to store his belongings. His black spatial ring with white runes contained his necromancy books, school books, and Lava Tyrant. One cerulean magic bag contained corpses of magical beasts and all his alchemical items and materials. His silver storage bag contained all his money and all other items he had.
He traveled to the northwestern area of the academy where the dorms were and followed the road markers as he flew to his dorm. It was a black and silver painted building with three floors with several balconies visible. Each dorm was categorized by year and gender. Each dorm had its own private bathrooms and each dorm had its own cafeteria and training grounds. Elgar put his tattered, crimson cloak into his spatial ring and tucked in his wings as he walked into the dorm. After ascending two floors, he finally found his dorm room in the center of the third floor.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
Elgar took out his key and opened the door, unlocking the magical runes that protected his room. He walked in and let Magmar expand to its full form while Void slithered onto his shoulder. Inside he saw a half elf with blonde hair and green eyes and a demi-human with orc blood with grey tinged skin due to his race. He knew had never seen an elf and an orc before and realized that the nation really did welcome any race within its borders.
"Oh! Finally, our third roommate is here. We were part of the first group and wondered when the final roommate would appear. I am a demi-human with elf blood. My name is Argolin of the noble clan of Rehan. I am a rank 5 warrior and rank 2 mage. I am pursuing to be a Beast Master," the blonde half elf greeted with a nod. "I own two magical beasts of the Violet Storm Bear race. Both are rank 4 magical beasts."
"My name is Ulgor Gnarlix," the half-orc said. "I am a rank 4 warrior and rank 3 mage. I was sent here by my tribe as only one mage is allowed per tribe. I am a War Shaman. I am glad you are a demi-human. Even though other races are accepted, pure blood humans always think themselves as superior."
"My name is Elgar Maltos and I am a demi-human with demon and dragon blood. I am a rank 5 mage and rank 4 warrior. I own a fusion type elemental scorpion called Magmar and a rank 2 snake magical beast I named Void," Elgar said and shook their hands.
"Looks like none of us have classes together based on our ranks," Ulgor sighed. "Well our room is four times the size of others. Our room is equally divided into four rooms for all of us and you can style your room by magic when touching your key on the door and visualizing the interior of your half. The fourth area is where we can gather like a living room. We'll wait for you to organize your room before heading to the cafeteria."
Elgar put his dorm key on his door and visualized a simple room with a king-sized bed and entered inside. He did not care much about his room as he would always be busy at class. He left Magmar inside the room to guard his cerulean storage bag with all the corpses and alchemical tools and left it to gather the spirit energy in its own form of cultivation. He kept Void with him as it was a hatchling and too attached to leave alone.
"You ready?" Argolin asked as Elgar appeared wearing his academy uniform.
He wore a black and gold buttoned coat with black pants and shoes. The coat had the same emblem on the half-token over the heart. Elgar let Void rest on his right shoulder and left with Argolin and Ulgor to the cafeteria. Elgar smirked a little as he recognized a few people in the cafeteria as applicants from his group ten minutes after they arrived.
He was surprised to see many more of the former rank 2 applicants and guessed they reached the third rank and defeated the rank 3 applicants while they were trapped in the bone cage. They must have reached the third rank while he was sorting his loot from all the dead applicants. They nodded at him in gratitude while the rank 4 prince from earlier glared at him, but didn't dare to look at him any further.
"It seems your group had the least amount of applicants and many fresh rank 3 first years," Ulgor grinned. "By the way they're looking at you, you must have done something to the stronger applicants."
"They didn't mock me before the trials like the former rank 3 applicants did. It's unfortunate that not all the rank 3 applicants and that rank 4 prince survived," Elgar said as he grabbed some food.

Back at the Galintor Kingdom, the 7th Elder had arrived in front of Edward Maltos and his family.
"Where is my grandson?" the 7th Elder asked. "Where is the son of Isabelle?"
"You know Isabelle?" Edward asked, ordering Edwin and Elaine to hide behind their mother, Irene.
"She is my daughter. I hear you freed her from your slavery as you married her," the 7th Elder said, bowing his head in gratitude. "She escaped from a horrible fate at the fault of her stupid father. I am glad she found happiness. What is her son's name and where is he?"
"His name is Elgar," Edward said. "He is currently at the Batralga Empire to apply to one of the five academies there. He hasn't contacted us yet as to which one."
"There is no need for that. He is of a noble dragon clan. He must be able to breathe white fire as I and his mother did. A dragon can find its kin easily. Do not worry, I will not harm him. Please, tell me how my daughter died," the 7th Elder asked.
"I will tell you how she happy she was while she lived, how sad she was when I found her, and how courageous she was when she chose Elgar's life over her own," Edward replied and led the 7th Elder into his home. "May I ask for your name?"
"My name is Isaac in the human tongue as Isabelle is in the human tongue. Our real names are too long and difficult for humans to pronounce," the 7th Elder said.
