I held the sword high in the sky, not even realizing what I was doing. the green light burned my eyes, sending a beacon out to everyone within a 100-mile radius. My instincts quickly returned to me, and I dropped the sword back down to waist level turning it in my hands repeatedly, feeling its weight in my muddied hands. I had almost forgotten my home was on fire, barely a home. I'm not even sure that shop keep knew I was there.
I turned around and gazed longingly at the firey city burning high into the sky, still hearing lady's screams from atop this massive hill. I watched as slowly the fire touched the grey stone blackening it. It looked like a campfire, rocks surrounding a great mass of tinder, black and white smoke high in the sky and barely visible. I wonder if the people of Untopia see the flames. I thought. Untopia was a sister city to Antopia, or so I've heard from passing traders. But likely, come morning, there would only be people picking through scraps if the fire didn't consume all of it. Hell, maybe they'd find a person or two.
I began walking away from the burning city. It was both an unpleasant and pretty sight, but my attention shifted. This massive sword had no sheath! I'd carried it for all of 10 seconds before realizing this relationship wasn't going to work out. I grabbed my dagger out and stretched out my pants I'm a tall fellow these can probably fit a long sword inside of them, right? I shoved the blade into my pants very carefully. Cutting myself with a strange sword would be a death sentence probably. I managed to tuck most of it inside, but the handle still stuck out of my pants. That's the best I was gonna get, I think. I shoved my dagger into the other side of my pants. And well, It doesn't work as well as you can still very clearly see the light coming out of my pants this time, though at maybe a 99-mile radius man, does my knee hurt banging against this steel thing? Perhaps if I try walking slower, it won't be as bad. This sword has me stuck in quite a situation. I cannot move as fast, but that's slightly better than having a beacon inviting any thief to come and take it from me. I had to find shelter quickly.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
In the past, I had never explored these grassy hills. I mainly stuck to the inner city and sometimes went outside for burglaries. One of my prime targets was farmer Daniel, an oldish man, probably 60 nowadays. About once every 3 weeks, he would come into town to sell his crops to the market in the bustling city market square. I would meet him on the city's outskirts, pass by him and take just one bag of potatoes that would feed me for about 3 weeks.
One week I almost died because farmer daniel had been my food source. He had not come in on his regular schedule, so I feared the worst for myself and a bit for him. I liked farmer daniel. He never did bat an eye seeing a ten-year-old kid stealing his potatoes. It warms my grey heart just thinking about this. I say all this because I know a farm belongs to Farmer Daniel somewhere in the distance. I'll visit him for old times' sake, maybe say sorry for all the trouble I caused him. I'll repay him someday by buying him a sack of potatoes when I can afford it. That'll be the day.
After about an hour of walking, I found a valley full of massive stones. It was as if a mountain crumbled down into this valley, jagged rocks spread wide through the length of it. They were piled on each other, like how one would pile trash. So, In theory, I could squeeze myself between a few and make a good hiding spot from the elements and maybe some protection from thieves or others. Though no way am I sleeping with an entire sword in my pants.
I carefully lifted my pants and slowly pulled out the longsword, blinding myself from staring at it for too long. The sheer awe of this big sword was not meant for mortal eyes clearly. Through feeling alone, I pulled it out, only slightly slicing my pants and setting it aside at a farther-away rock. It still glowed all over the place. Still, under some other stones, it'll be barely noticeable (I hope). Alright then, my journey begins here after a quick sleep, of course, and I imagine ill get little because of this excitement.
