I stayed in place, waiting for the lights to resume shining... but they didn't turn back on. Meanwhile Hannah had found me next to the door. My ears listened for any sign of sound at all, but only Hannah's restlessness and our breathing caused the slightest of noise. Victor would have noticed a power outage by now, I thought, maybe I should go now...
I agreed with myself and turned the knob to open and the door creaked. Small rays of light peeked out and exposed the room once again. I peeked though the crack and saw nothing but a white hallway, and a dark wood door at the end. No cameras could be seen... I closed the door, encasing the room in darkness once again.
"What should we do?" I said to myself. I pondered for a little while. Then Hannah spoke up.
"If we want to escape, we need to run... fast." She said, as if that wasn't already obvious. She put her hand over mine on the doorknob, turning it slowly. Soon the door opened and we let it open all the way. We both took a step back and leaped, sprinting through the hallway, we got to the door, hurriedly opened and jumped through... only to fall a few feet into another cage. We fell hard on the soft carpet over a metal floor. We were trapped once again, except this time it was in a bigger cage and we were together. Men and women alike stood around us as if they were watching us, which unsurprisingly, they were. Some were staring, some were taking notes, and some were chatting with each other. These people were acting as if we were a science exhibit.

Victor is truly evil, I thought, truly, truly evil. No one would even think of such a bad thing as this. Then the group of scientists walked off, leaving Hannah and me alone. I looked up, the door was still there, but it was somehow closed and most likely locked. I didn't even risk trying because above the door, on the ceiling, sat several sprinklers. Of which their use was unknown, I did not expect anything good to come from this situation. As I looked back down, a sound got my attention. I was the sound of sizzling, like the extinguishing of a fire. I was afraid to look up, as it sounded like it was coming from that direction. Curiosity got the advantage of me and I could not handle not discovering the source. I looked up and saw the sprinklers had been activated and what appeared to be nearly invisible sizzling hot fire, slowly sinking down in our chamber, I flattened myself against the floor and hoped it would not reach me. Sooner than later, I breathed some in. Immediately the concoction took hold. The room began to spin and my body felt like I was at the bottom of the sea, being crushed. Next the gas turned and very dark shade of black, obscuring nearly all vision. I turned my head to the side, seeing Hannah lying there, nearly unconscious. As the world began to disappear, all I could manage to say was;
"Hannah"
