Chapter 24: The Summoned Heroes, And The Arrival

(3° person POV)

Mirai fell on the ground, confused and with a blurry mind. Somebody held her arm as she was struggling to get up. Looking up, she saw the familiar face of her brother, Tarou. Her weak legs trembling as she tries to put her weight on them.

She looks around, trying to locate herself. A tall ceiling sustained by white pillars. White walls decorated with paintings and gold. All around them, on the absurdly large room, there are people. This place looks like a court, with semi-circular seats above a certain height from where she is.

Sitting on the seats, a lot of people gaze down on them. dressed in fancy clothes, some of which are so flamboyant that they look ridiculous. She took some time to figure out who were those people.

(Mirai): “Nobles.”

She though. Below the seats, on the same level that they are standing, close to the walls, there is a semi-circle of men in armor standing. Their armors are silvery and polished, reflecting the light. Knights, basically. Seeing this, she finally remembers what happened.

(Mirai): “We were summoned to another world! Now I remember!”

She though, remembering the details of what would happen that were given to her by the goddess that summoned them.

(Male voice): “Welcome, heroes!”

Says a male voice. Looking up to the source, she sees the one who spoke. An adult man, with golden hair and a golden crown, handsome face with blue eyes and pale skin. Muscular body hidden under the classy clothes.

(Melewen): “My name is Melewen Shcneria, the king of the kingdom of Anarchy. The goddess has blessed us with your presence, you are all welcome in my kingdom!”

He said, starting a whole speech that the students listened carefully… except for Mirai. She felt that there was something that wasn’t right. Looking around, she felt that there was something missing. Something important that she couldn’t remember that was tugging her heartstrings.

Lightly pulling Tarou’s sleeve, she asked to him:

(Mirai): “Tarou… isn’t there something missing?”

Looking at his sister, he asked:

(Tarou): “Like what?”

(Mirai): “I don’t know… I can’t really remember… but surely there is something missing here.”

Tarou didn’t answer, closing his eyes and frowning a bit. Now that she said that, he also felt that there was something out of it’s place. However, no matter how much he tries, he isn’t able remember anything.

(Tarou): “You’re right… but now we don’t have time to worry about this. We have bigger problems here.”

He says, looking at the king that’s making the speech with a proud face, almost like talking to himself.

(Tarou): “I don’t have a good impression of this king. There’s something off about him…”

Mirai nodded. this king is faithfully following the pattern that the kings in the light novels that the fictional ones did. Arrogantly and selfishly using the summoned ones as weapons. He clearly wasn’t considering that the heroes could chose not to help him, as it wasn’t their obligation.

After all, they didn’t consent in coming, they were pretty much forced by the goddess to come here, and they have no option but to help. Mirai and Tarou do know what waits them if they don’t cooperate. The rest of the students are convinced by the speech of the king, motivated to help.

Of course, the king wasn’t alone. The same boy who hates Akatsuki, the blonde guy that bashed him together with the goddess, Kagami Akira. Although people know very well that he doesn’t like Akatsuki, they think that his hate isn’t that bad since he never did or said anything extreme in front of other people.

In truth, Akira is extremely popular in the school, being a charismatic leader. With him supporting the king and comforting his classmates, they give in quickly. Mirai frowns. She doesn’t like Akira at all for his dismay. She knows that something happened, but she can’t quite remember what…

For now, she and her brother play along. They have a long way ahead if they want to find a way back home.

(the next day)

Mirai wakes up, looking to a ceiling that she doesn’t recognize. Looking around, it takes her some time to remember where she is.

(Mirai): “Oh yeah, we were summoned to another world…”

She says to herself, getting up from the soft and beautiful bed. She looks around, to the extremely fancy room. She looks outside the window, where the soft light of the sun goes in. The window gives a splendid view to the city over the walls around the castle.

The view is of the noble district, full of big and fancy houses, shining like jewels and gold beneath the morning sun. It wasn’t the view that she was used from the window of her room. It wasn’t the house beside her own.

As soon as she has that though, a sudden discomfort washes over her. Yes, the house next door. There is something important about it. But why is it so important? She wasn’t particularly close to the people living there.

Well, it isn’t like she didn’t knew them. there’s the housewife, Yakumo Hikari, gentle and pretty, that more than once gave them cookies and sweets when Mirai and her brother met her. She doesn’t remember the husband, nor does remember ever meeting him.

There’s also the only daughter of the couple, Yakumo Misaki. A strong-willed daughter, who trains martial arts and is heir to the family kenjutsu style, surprisingly being inherited from her gentle mother, who is also a master swordswoman, being a great older sister.

(Mirai): “Older sister? She’s the only child… why did I thought that Misaki had a younger sibling?”

She asked herself, confused. However, even though she knows their names, they weren’t that close. And she feels that there was something extremely important about that house… specially the window directly in front of her window back in her home.

Something… important. Something that she saw every morning…

Shaking her head, she tries to forget the bad feeling as someone knocks on her door. Opening it, it’s a maid.

(Maid): “Milady, are you ready? If you are, I will guide you to the breakfast.”

(meanwhile, on the other side of the continent, city Last Port)

Last Port, called this way for being the furthest city in the human continent. The big city has been here for more than 800 years, as far as the records of the city goes. The city not only is one of the most important trade spots of the marine commerce of humans, but it’s also the first and one of the toughest lines of defense of the human against the demon.

This is the same port city that Lilulana felt Akatsuki’s presence for the first time. The city changed since then, of course. From the shabby wooden buildings and dirty streets, it has changed to a bustling enormous city.

The stone streets are clean and tidy, the buildings are also made of stone, and are so clustered together and tall that it seems that the whole city is one humongous thing. This feeling is reinforced by the stone bridges between the houses on the upper stories of the buildings.

The whole city is built in a Victorian gothic style, being a beautiful city. Last Port is also massive, at least three times of the capital of the kingdom. There are three tall, thick and extremely resistant walls, forming three districts.

The innermost district is dedicated to the administration of the city and noble residences. The middle district, between the inner wall and the middle wall is the commoners district, with some commercial activity. And finally, the outer district, just behind the outer wall.

This is the commercial district where the port is. However, on the opposite side of the port, on the part of the city that leads deeper in the continent, inside the walls, is the slums, the poorest part of the city.

And now, a new ship arrives at Last Port. It’s a giant warship that just arrived from an incursion to the Forbidden Continent, that leaded soldiers in an exploration on the deep forests of the continent, in search of riches for the kingdom.

This isn’t uncommon. Although it’s the home and cradle of the demon race, a lot of the continent is uninhabited as the demons occupy just a small part of it. although some of it’s tribes live deep in the continent, there’s a lot of its coast that’s free.

However, there isn’t any human city on the continent due the difficulty to survive. There IS a fortress that constantly suffers attacks from the demons and monsters, and some bases from other races.

So, it is common someone come from the Forbidden continent in the ships as passengers. Elves, dwarves, humans, etc.

The reason for this is that a lot of people try their luck in the Forbidden continent. Strong monsters, lost treasures of powerful people that died there, strong monsters to fight against and train yourself as well sell their powerful and rare bodies.

Because of that, a small group of people that aren’t soldiers come out of the ship. And, as they come out, a specific pair goes down the ramp. The first one is a beauty. An elf, a bit short for an elf, around 1,70 meters for the average 1,85 to 1,90 for the female elf.

Her hair is pink, mixed with a bit of purple. Her eyes are of a crystalline purple, and her skin is pale, smooth and soft. She has a pink tattoo on her face, and her waist-length hair is tied at the end. She’s wearing black leggings and a black sports top, exposing her belly.

She’s also wearing armor, a black plate over the considerable chest, black gauntlets, black pauldrons, black greaves and sabatons. There’s also a long-strapped bag over her shoulder, with the bag on her right shoulder over her head with the bag on her left.

As she stepped on the ramp to go down, she turned back, extending her hand, smiling gently. Then, a hand was extended, and she held it gently, helping the new person. He has pale skin, long, waist-length spiky black hair with hints of purple.

He’s a bit taller than the girl, around 1,80 meters tall, maybe a bit more. He’s dressed in a black kimono, with golden and red decorations. On his hands, he has a wooden cane with an oval shape. He’s wearing a black blindfold, that looks like a single and thick stripe, with a purple tree sewn on it.

This, is Akatsuki.

(elf): “Master, let me help you down the ramp.”

(Akatsuki): “Thank you, Faeleena.”

He says, smiling. With her help, they go down slowly through the ramp, with Akatsuki tapping the ground ahead of him to find any irregularity that could trip him. When they reach the pier, Akatsuki holds Faeleena right arm and she guides him through the town.

(Faeleena): “Master, where do you want to go first?”

She asks gently, with a light smile in her lips as she looks to Akatsuki, who answers:

(Akatsuki): “Well, I guess that for now, I want a bed and good food.”

He says, smiling.
