3- Lloyd

3. Lloyd

Miss Lloyd Calcarin, an Elf prodigy in the academy, she gained her popularity after becoming the youngest student to graduate from Ostwood academy. Right after she graduated she was offered the job to work as a part-time teacher in the academy's high school while also studying in the academy's college, she is also the type teacher whose words were final in class.

She walks in the class in a business outfit, her gray hair was shoulder long but packed in a ponytail that revealed her elven ears, she was holding a tablet in her arms and walked majestically into class, went to her table and dropped her tablet on it. Then she fell down face first.

"Grace and brains don't mix after all", I said that to myself. I guess I wasn't the only one that found that funny as some of the boys beside me chuckled. She got up as if nothing happened and said "Students, I hope you got ready for your book assessment test because you are having it today."

Immediately she said that our desks all flipped to display a tablet with our test on it.

Ostwood is packed with the latest test taking technology that sets the standard for schools; we had no need for books or all that other paper stuff. Although that is the case the academy still makes us read some books.

Our tests were all taken on tablets on the end of our tables. This particular test was a multiple choice questions test with about 20 questions. The test was automatically marked but most teachers refrain from allowing us to see our scores as soon as the tests were over.

I sat up and took the test. Cheating was a nigh impossible action for the tests, the tablets monitor your motions, there was no way you could just look at someone and communicate, teachers set three time the number of questions for tests and computers randomize those question for each and every student meaning there was a low chance for your questions to match the questions of the people around you.

I finished the test and submitted. About half an hour after the test commenced the test had already ended. I was pretty confident in my answers and I think that I'll get a score of 16 out of the 20 question which means I'll score 12 out of it.

The moment the teacher had confirmed that all of us were done with the test she informed us that she would hold our scores until the next class, she had said all she wanted to say and was about to leave the class when she tripped over again. This time her tablet fell onto the floor with her.

"How much do those cost today?"

A classmate said that and for some reason I was compelled to respond.

"Depends on model but they can sell at prices from seven hundred Rels to three thousand Rels."

"Who said that?"

My answer was quickly given response by Miss Lloyd.

I had no option but to fess up and say it was me.

"Come to my office right now."

"Yes ma'am"

"You know you didn't have to call me ma'am we are the same age after all"

''Yes, Miss Lloyd."

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

"Call me by my first name, we are cousins after all."

"Nobody knows that and it would be best to keep that from them."

"Fine whatever, I hope that you are fitting in with the other students. Do you have any friends?"

"None."

"Well at least you have me."

Lloyd Calcarin, my second cousin once removed on my mother's side, an elf just like my mother. She reminds me so much of her with the same grayish hair as her the relation has been cut far with various linage branches but she looks just like her. She is currently studying Mechanical engineering in Ostwood Academy's College; even though she is focusing on mechanical engineering she has a lower educational certificate in Elven History. I don't show it but I really enjoy her presence.

"So, why am I being called to your office exactly?"

The office in question is the academy's library. We were sitting on a table at the back of the library. The table had some computers on it and all of them were on.

"Well my main reasons were to punish you for not reading for my test..."

Damn it she knew.

"... and the fact you were talking in class. I also wanted to tell you that i have been provided with a lab for my projects."

"A new lab huh, I thought that you already had one."

"Let's not talk about that."

I already knew why she refused to talk about that lab, she destroyed the previous one with a project and now works part-time because of the lab, but i had to milk the reaction out of her.

"Let's forget about that, how is Lumine doing Blau?"

"I'm thinking of infecting her system with a virus."

"That is not a really fatherly thing to say."

"I'm not its father. I made Lumine's systems and programmed its software. "

"You created software that has its own consciousness and can feel emotions. You created something that can think on its own even though to a restricted extent, you basically gave birth to her. She also has her physical form that exist in your..."

"The last part is still a work in progress; there is no way to know if it'll function or not until it is tried."

"What was that about a physical form?"

That statement came from none other than Lumine herself who had hacked into one of the computers on the table.

"It is nothing for you to worry about."(Blau)

"Don't be a spoil sport."(Lloyd)

"Why would I tell her? It would be best for our safety that she did not know."(Blau)

"Lu its best that you don’t know but all i can say is that you are closer to Blau than you think."(Lloyd)

"Bye Lloyd."

"Later Blau."

I had already spent enough time talking with Lloyd so I decided to leave the library, i had already spent thirty minutes in there and there was nothing left for me to do.

"Master Blau did you not have another class after social studies."

I froze up; i did have another class after social studies. Before I knew what I was doing I was running at top speed towards the class and then i crashed into someone.

Lloyd's Pov

Didn't I say I was going to punish him?

Yes, I did. It seems like I forgot my main reason for calling him to the library, I mean my office, was to provide Blau with the appropriate punishments for talking in class and not preparing for his test properly. I got distracted with all the talk about Lumine and forgot.

I better check the students test scores on that test. I take my tablet out of my bag and remember that the tablet's screen had nice time learning about the qualities of gravity.

"Damn it this thing cost me a thousand eight hundred and fifty Rels. That is 60 days of my wages. I'm never wearing high heels again."

I was suddenly made to keep quiet by the librarian, it seems he noticed all the talk that was here so he came to stop the noise but unfortunately for me my accomplice was already long gone. I feel like he did not want to be punished and used that as an opportunity to escape.

I never had siblings and my parents were always busy and after they split up all I had was my mom. She died in an accident when I was fourteen so all the family I know now is Blau and I made the promise to protect him no matter what.
