i approached the secluded building in the passenger side of an ambulance. though the headlights were bright, they were merely fireflies compared to the shadow shrowding the hospital.
It's dirty black bricks blended into the dark clouds, except for the occasional yellow window that flickered as if the building was winking. i moved my hair away from my eyes, but the view of the asylum didn't get any better, in fact, it may have gotten worse.
i mumbled curses silently, so the driver couldn't hear me, but a slight feeling in my gut told me that he hears every word.
though, my answer was only silence as the man in the driver's seat barely even took a glance my way.
a small sigh left her, but I refused to break the silence that now filled the vehicle.

i wasn't here to talk anyway.
this was after all... an asylum.
the ambulance drove all the way up the rocky path, the tires slowly stopping on the gravel, making a crunching sound.
i could feel my shy polite smile turn into a grim line on my face, as I glared at the bright porch lights that made the green paint-chipped almost glow.
"well.... goodbye...."
he twisted the key, making the rumble of the vehicle stop, and slowly tipped his hat.
my nerves were on edge, feeling like the vibration of small bells.
i opened the door, and ungracefully leapt out , my cheap flats landing on the earth's mishapen floor, as i tried to catch my breath.
before i could apologize for the inconvenience, the man was already skidding away from the driveway...
now, the only source of warmth was gone, and i stood, looking at the haunting house of nutballs that leaned towards me.
i stumbled up the rocks towards the concrete steps, trying to hide my face from the yellow windows.
i was sure someone was looking down from them.
