Chapter 28: The Traveller

Chapter 28: The Traveller

The group of soldiers marched wearily through the muddy battlefield. They were ordinary soldiers, without much rank or reputation. They had been fighting for weeks and were exhausted, hungry, and homesick.

As they trudged through the muck, they noticed a lone figure sitting on a nearby rock, calmly watching the battle. He was dressed in strange clothes, with a long coat and a wide-brimmed hat that obscured his face. The soldiers were surprised to see someone so unconcerned about the fighting going on around him.

One of the soldiers approached the stranger cautiously. "Who are you?" he asked.

The man looked up at him with piercing eyes. "I am a traveller," he replied. "I have seen many battles like this before."

The soldier was intrigued. "What can you tell us about this war?" he asked.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

The traveller shook his head. "I can tell you nothing you do not already know," he said. "War is a terrible thing, but it is often necessary. You are fighting for your country and your people. That is a noble cause."

The soldiers nodded, but they were still curious about the mysterious traveller. "What brings you here?" one of them asked.

The traveller smiled enigmatically. "I go where the wind takes me," he said. "I have no home, no family, and no ties to this world. I am a wanderer, seeking knowledge and adventure."

The soldiers were fascinated by the traveller's words, and they asked him many questions about his travels. He spoke of far-off lands and ancient ruins, of powerful wizards and legendary heroes. They listened eagerly, forgetting their fatigue and their fear.

As the conversation continued, the soldiers felt a renewed sense of hope and courage. They had met a stranger who had seen much of the world and had survived its dangers. If he could face such challenges with such grace and confidence, perhaps they could do the same.

The traveller rose to his feet, preparing to leave. "Remember this," he said. "No matter what happens in this war, you are never alone. There are always others who share your struggles and your dreams. Keep that in your hearts, and you will always find the strength to carry on."

With those words, the traveller vanished into the mist, leaving the soldiers to ponder his enigmatic wisdom. They knew that they would never forget the strange and mysterious stranger who had appeared in the midst of their battle.
