The sun was rising. A person sleeping peacefully. The sun rises higher. The person sleeping peacefully. The sun rises even higher. The alarm rang aloud.
[Rinnnggggg!]
The person jumps up in surprise and got into sitting posture on his bed.
-“Ahhh, what a strange dream.” The person yawned as he gets up and goes to the restroom.
This person is Sam Trigari. He is 16 years old and an ordinary high-school student who loves playing games, waking up from his alarm which was set at 7:20 AM, Sam gets up to brush his teeth. Looking at the mirror why he was at it, he thought ‘Man, dreaming unicorns and rainbow ponies. What the fuck.’
Finishing the last brush for brushing his teeth, he then rinsed his mouth with water and cleaned his toothbrush thoroughly. Sam then dresses up along with his jacket and grabbed his backpack, made sure all the lights were turned off, then left his house. He goes to a convenience store and bought some cocoa for the cold winter season right now. It wasn’t very cold, but Sam really dislikes it as it almost gave him frostbites when he was younger.
Enjoying the cocoa, he again remembers his childhood friend as he drinks the hot cocoa. His name was Mylen. Mylen was a silent type of person. He never would go and talk with others. He would always get scared when someone comes up to him. Mylen would get bullied by other kids, taking advantage of his silence as a weakness. Hiding his shoes, beating him up, taking away his lunch.
It all changed when Sam met him.
They met each other at the convenience store when they were both buying their favorite drink, cocoa. During this time, they were 11 years old.
“Hey, are you not Mylen at Martin Middle School?” Sam asked when he spotted Mylen, trying to confirm his identity as he sipped his cocoa.
Being surprised about someone who actually knew him, Mylen turns and blankly stared at Sam. It was hard to read Mylen’s expression since his black bangs were covering his eyes and most of his face.
“I knew it. You are definitely Mylen from my school.” Sam said as he smiles
“I-I-uh, um…” Mylen nervously stutters as he was trying to reply.
“Hmmhh? Isn’t that cocoa you’re drinking?” Sam said when he noticed what Mylen was drinking.
“...Yeah.”
“Oh, you also like cocoa? Hey, don’t you just love how it tastes?” Sam energetically asks
“..Mmh” Mylen nods
After that day, somehow they became fast friends because of that incident and it wouldn’t be any exaggeration if they were called the best of friends. They would always go out with each other and went to movies, enjoying their worry free life. When they both had spare time, they would always hang out with each other and stayed up till midnight.
Though Mylen was still quite unsociable, he is always more interactive when Sam was around. However, Mylen has to soon leave because of his father’s work. They weren’t able to contact each other since he doesn’t have a personal phone yet.
‘And his father doesn’t seem to like me for some reason.’ Sam thought
Finishing his cocoa, he threw the the plastic cup into a nearby trashcan. Sam then walked towards his school as he tries to not think about his past and his best friend,Mylen. It would always give him a painful feeling in his heart and if he does, he wouldn’t be able to sleep on that day in his emotional state.
Finally arriving at his school, he then went directly to his homeroom classroom to avoid the cold. Climbing up the stairs and passing by other groups of friends, Sam opened to classroom door and went inside. The bell has yet to rung, but most have already been inside the classroom because it has been getting colder as of late.
Going to his seat which was near a window, Sam sits down onto his chair and looked outside from the window. Snow was slightly accumulating even though the sun was up, but that was normal here in the north. Most of the year it would be cold whether or not the sun is up or down.
“In the news, they would say the planet right now is in global warming. But this area isn’t affected by it at all.” Sam muttered to himself.
The bell rung and signals the students everywhere to return to their seats. The Sam’s classmates shuffled around the classroom as they sat down on their assigned seats. Before long, a female teacher comes inside and went faced the class with a cheerful smile.
“Good Morning everyone. I hope everyone of you did your essay homework.” The female teacher says.
This teacher is Miss Cherly. If her existence was to be summed up in one short word, that would be “Genius”. Ever since she was a child, she had been earning rewards for her progress in technology. For example, she invented a new app which could solve any problems, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, are also included in this app. It solves every problem without difficulty and shows the steps on how to obtain it. Not only that, she was also an expert in the medical and engineering field and made it progress 5 times faster than what it would normally take.

Almost everyone knew who she is. Though unfortunately for the country, she doesn’t seem to be interested in having those kinds of careers. It has been heard that her dream job was to become a teacher. There has been many protests about this and the government doesn’t like it one bit. Rumors spread saying that Miss.Cherly was at multiple times being threatened if she doesn’t return to the various fields and make some progress.
Fortunately, it didn’t stay very long when the public somehow got a hold of this. There were attempted riots, and many of them actually threatened to remove the government just for Miss.Cherly. The government and various branches stopped pressuring her.
Ever since then, she chose this school to teach. Mostly because this was where she grew up and loved this place. Even though she is short and petite which makes her look like a child despite her being in her mid 20s, many of the people in the class respects her.
Getting back to the present time, Sam cursed while forming a fist with his right hand, “Oh shit.”
Sam had forgotten to even do his essay yesterday which was due today. The assignment was given out a few weeks ago, so no excuses would work. Even more when Miss.Cherly doesn’t even give that much homework to begin with.
Sam starts to think of any possible excuses that could steer him away from this situation. As his mind raced through finding the best solution to this problem, a girl next to him noticed his discomfort. Seeing Sam nervously shaking his right leg, a brief wry smile appears on her face, though if anyone were to see it, they would be pretty shock. Because she was known as an expressionless person. Yet she smiled at Sam of all people.
Sam wasn’t really popular or known to begin with. He is pretty much average is all aspects. Average grades, average looks, and average skills in art. Though his physical ability is below average, he is healthy. Other than that, he was mostly ignored like any other average guy in this world. His social life isn’t really amazing. He had some acquaintances, but they aren’t very close to him. In the end, Sam doesn’t have friends. He is in junior year of his high-school career. He doesn’t participate in clubs, and with such average grades, it is doubtful if you can succeed in life.
As Sam was panicking about his grades dropping, the classroom starts shaking. Initially everyone thought it was their imagination, however, they soon realized that it was reality. Everyone had a worried expression on their face, as they looked at each other, questioning if it was seriously happening.
“Everyone! Get under the desks now! Do not move unless I signal you to!” Miss Cherly shouted as she also went under her desk.
Sam who was the only one still in a daze, finally noticed what was happening and quickly gets under his desk. Sweating cold sweat as he thought, ‘Fuck! Am I going to die here?’, and then a bright white flash exploded in the classroom like a grenade, but many times brighter.
-----
When the light disappears, everything was back to normal. The chairs and desks were still in place. The backpacks were still there. The lights were still working. However, something more important was missing. Everyone in the classroom were gone. As if they ever existed in the first place.
The News became a really hot topic with many families going crazy. Even a government official went mad and frequently goes to the bar and only drinks. Everything about 36 students and a teacher disappearing to nowhere. Many investigations were put on in the classroom. The school has to shut down as it might be too dangerous for other civilians to also vanish. Though this is a story for another time.
-------
As the blinding white light disappears from Sam’s vision, he see that he was sitting cross legged in front of a throne made of gold with an old man with a golden crown on top of his head.
“Welcome heroes! We apologize for taking you away from your world. However, please understand our predicament as the demons are growing in power. If this continues on, we will perish!”
