Chapter 46: Corrupted Healer

"Tenur! Tenur!"

"Wake up!"

The sound roused Tenur who moved his mouth, but no sound came. His mouth was dry and his throat was sore. Annoyed, he took a peek at the one rousing him, not before a sharp pain assaulted his cheeks.

"Tenur! Tenur!"

His eyelids split open as the pain got intense and his cheek felt swollen. He saw a familiar face looking at him, with what looked like a raised palm.

"Tenur!" Sarah slapped him again and again, until the sore in his throat felt significantly better than the pain on his face.

"Stop! Stop!" Tenur struggled to sit up as he held Sarah's now incoming hand. "I'll be dead if you continue."

From the looks of her face, he knew Sarah was just worried about him, but the slaps got annoying and excruciating. Slaps feel good, said no one ever.

As he took in his current surroundings, he noticed he wasn't on his own bed. Rather, the bed smelled of something much better. Yet as he tried to take in the pleasure of what smelled like Sarah, he was suddenly aware of a pulsating pain orginating from cranium. It felt as if a hammer was striking his skull, reverberating waves upon waves of pain that were each worse than its previous one until his world turned 180 degrees.

At this point, the pain was unbearable to the point where Tenur was unaware of his own hands clawing at his head. "It... hurts..." It didn't take a genius to know Tenur was suffering from a severe headache due to the previous concussion. "I'll call the healer." Sarah told him as she rushed out the room.

Tenur knocked his head with his own fists, trying to make the pain go away. It didn't feel better, but neither did it feel worse. It felt like a decade had passed before the healer was brought in. The healer was a man in his forties, with sandy blonde hair and blue eyes that showed he wasn't a native. There was a leather belt on his waist, and a pouch tied to his belt on the right side of his waist. The man sat in front of his patient before secretly smirking, not enough to be noticed by the couple.

"You're suffering from a concussion, you know that?" The man's voice was slightly hoarse.

With Tenur occupied with his suffering, Sarah got slightly agitated. "Can you help him?"

The man looked at Sarah, his eyes revealing nothing, before answering. "I can, but it would cost quite a bit. And considering how I saved him from the thief, the cost would be double the treatment price."

Sarah listened carefully and tried to weigh her options, but seeing how Tenur was suffering this much, she couldn't help but agree to any cost the treatment brought. "I-I can pay!" She looked the man in the eyes, determination radiating from her.

The healer grinned openly, this time visible to both of them. "You don't seem to have a lot with you, considering how little your house is furnished."

He then added, "But I can make an exception for... another type of payment, seeing as you are still a young lady." The man smiled innocently, but the intention was clear.

Sarah gulped and wanted to reconsider the deal, but seeing and listening to her lover moaning was more painful than sacrificing herself. She looked at the floor, as if it would show her the path she should take, and answered. "I understand."

"Let's start with the payment then," the man looked at Sarah with his lustful gaze. Being seen like that was bone chilling for her, to say the least. "I'm fine with doing it in the living room."

As the man got up and tried to exit, Sarah blocked the way. "Not before you cure him." She was rock solid on this.

The healer then raised a brow. "You dare bargain with me when all your cards are on the table?" He asked rhetorically as he loosened his belt and his gaze landed on her chest, his voice threatening. For a moment, her determination wavered, but that was all it took for the healer to know he's going to have his way.

"I-if not, you can leave and f-f-forget about getting paid!" Sarah tried standing her ground. The healer stared at her for an awkward moment before pitying her and sighing. He was not a man who bullied woman. "Very well..." He seemed unwilling as he walked over to his patient and took measurements. Deep within her rational mind, Sarah had her doubts when she hired the suspicious traveling healer, but seeing the healer do his work, she was now convinced the man was of actual calibre.

After he finished his work, the healer withdrew a bunch of herbs from his pouch and stuffed them into the now-facedown Tenur who was begging to be released to the sweet embrace of death, but responded with "Mmm" when the herbs started working. Tenur stopped responding after that and seemed to have fallen aslee[.

"Now..." The healer looked at Sarah. "The payment." His gaze was so full of desire it made Sarah want to vomit, but a deal is a deal. He healed her lover, and now she would fulfill her end of the bargain.
