32 All Turns to Void

Every war-general level martial artist is a formidable presence that commands respect.

On the battlefield, amidst thousands of soldiers, a war-general level martial artist can turn the tide of battle, not to mention in the current situation of slaughter.

But it seems everyone has overlooked one thing, why has Kains only revealed his true strength now?

Standing in the air, Kains, with his blood-red eyes now clear, looks around with a gaze filled not just with killing intent, but also with sadness and nostalgia.

With a casual wave of his hand, a sword qi, almost invisible due to its speed, flies out from his giant sword.

As the sword qi passes, the seventh-level ice mage, about to deliver a fatal blow to Adeline, had no time to react, his body suddenly split in two.

The powerful seventh-level mage was no match for the might of a single sword from a war-general level martial artist.

Kains swings his great sword, sending out three sword qis in quick succession. Each heads in a different direction, targeting the leader of the assassins in black, in front of Ilaya, and towards the assassins facing the mercenary group.

Having witnessed the fate of the ice mage, when Kains swings his sword again, the assassins he targets attempt to dodge or block.

However, the vast difference in their levels makes their efforts futile, their bodies are cleaved in two with barely a movement.

Only the assassin leader manages to tear open a magic scroll in time, summoning a golden giant over three meters tall to block in front of him.

The eighth-level gold magic "Guardian of Gold"!

Assassins, being much wealthier than mercenaries, always have some life-saving measures at their disposal, especially the top-tier ninth-level assassins.

But even the eighth-level gold magic can only block one of Kains' strikes. With a crisp sound, the golden giant is shattered into pieces.

Unable to kill with one strike, Kains leaps through the air to appear in front of the assassin leader, swinging down a dazzlingly bright light.

As the golden giant is destroyed, the assassin leader starts to retreat, his figure even beginning to blur, but when the sword truly comes down, he still couldn't completely dodge it.

The flash of the sword sends an entire arm flying.

In the moment the sword light passes, the neat, smooth cut doesn't even bleed at first.

Only after the arm flies off does the blood begin to spurt out.

Failing to kill with one strike, Kains follows up with another, the sword light piercing straight towards the assassin leader's chest like a spear.

Severely wounded, the assassin leader has no way to avoid this strike. The moment the sword pierces through, he closes his eyes in resignation.

That moment seemed incredibly long, yet he never felt the sword pierce his chest.

Opening his eyes, the assassin leader sees Kains kneeling on the ground, his giant sword still in a thrusting stance but its tip weakly touching the ground, his hand trembling violently.

Kains' last sword strike couldn't be fully executed.

With his head bowed, his face pale as death, blood dribbling from his mouth, his eyes devoid of any light, the once-dominant war-general now appears utterly spent.

The assassin leader quickly recovers from his shock, the joy of narrowly escaping death even causing him to lose his composure, laughing loudly, "So you were just a dying flash of brilliance!"

"Someone will kill you for me…" Kains murmurs with a voice barely audible.

"Even if that day comes, you won't be able to see it. Today, you will die by my hand," the assassin leader says, as he forcibly stops the bleeding in his left arm and slowly approaches Kains.

Kains suddenly lifts his head, a flash of light in his eyes, and throws his giant sword.

The assassin leader, frightened, quickly retreats.

"Run!" Kains roars, then collapses to the ground, lifeless.

The giant sword doesn't fly towards the assassin leader but towards the assassins facing the mercenaries.

Spinning, the giant sword, carrying the last bit of Kains' fighting spirit, easily bisects two unsuspecting assassins, finally embedding itself in the ground, still trembling as if mourning its master.

Kains knew he couldn't kill the assassin leader but used his last bit of life force to give the mercenaries a chance.

Besides the assassin leader, there were still seven or eight assassins alive. With Kains' strike, the mercenaries found a sliver of hope.

"For the captain!"

"I'll fight you to the end!"

"Attack!"

What Kains didn't expect was that not a single mercenary took the chance to flee towards the canyon; instead, they charged at the remaining assassins like madmen.

One by one, they fell under the assassins' blades, or dragged the assassins to death with them...

These cold-blooded assassins could never understand the seemingly foolish actions of the passionate mercenaries!

Arthur walked over, picked up the giant sword that was almost as tall as he was, and dragged it towards the leader of the assassins in black.

Adeline staggered to her feet and walked towards Caines' body.

As the assassin leader passed by Adeline, he casually swung his sword.

Adeline stumbled forward a few steps, then fell forward, landing next to Caines.

When the assassin leader walked past the elf, the kneeling elf proudly lifted his head, "Don't touch me with your dirty hands!"

Ilaya turned his head for one last look at Caines and Adeline lying side by side, then stabbed himself in the chest with the exquisite dagger in his hand.

Caines ultimately failed to carve out a glimmer of hope for the mercenary group, turning passionate warriors into cold corpses, leaving only the boy dragging the sword to fulfill his last mission.

The assassin leader waved his hand, stopping the black-clad assassins from stabbing Arthur and allowing him to approach.

The assassin leader tilted his head, intrigued by the sight of the youth dragging the giant sword. It was strange, the mercenary group had brought along a teenager.

But it didn't matter, there was no age distinction on the road to the underworld, and the assassin would not spare him just because he was a child.

"Kid, that sword is too big for you, it's not suitable!"

"Caines said someone would kill you for him!"

The assassin leader suddenly found the boy interesting, thinking it a pity to kill him so soon, "Is it you? First, you need the strength to lift the sword!"

Arthur didn't speak, but leaped high, the giant sword in his hand tracing a beautiful arc as he slashed at the assassin leader's face.

A faint red light emanated from the sword, blazing red like flames!

Unbeknownst to him, Arthur had broken through in battle, his fighting spirit now clinging to his blade.

The assassin leader uttered a light "huh," impressed. "Fire-red fighting spirit, it seems you're a promising lad."

With a crisp "ding," the black dagger easily blocked Arthur's full-powered strike.

"But you're still far from enough!"

Still in mid-air, Arthur let go of the sword, allowing it to be knocked away, and with his now-free hand, he conjured a fireball that shot directly at the assassin leader's mask.

The assassin leader immediately screamed in agony.

Although the leather mask protected his face, his eyes, nostrils, and mouth were exposed. Getting hit by a fireball at close range severely burned him.

Despite being temporarily blinded, the assassin leader still stabbed towards Arthur's location, sending out a sword energy.

Arthur's feet, enchanted with "Windwalk" boots, swept him away.

The expected strike missed, and the assassin leader let out a hysterical roar, "Catch him, I want to flay him alive!"

Seeing the three black-clad assassins surrounding him, Arthur knew he had no hope left.

Arthur grabbed the giant sword from the ground, took a few steps back, then turned and jumped into the turbulent waters of the Neldon River without hesitation...
