Aster finished his call and waited untill the train reached its destination, after getting off the train, he went to his house. While walking he was thinking abot his mana and some basic knowledge he found on the internet ‘first of all, I think I skipped some important steps’ he thought worriedly, his hand rubbing his chin.
‘new mages start their incantations by chanting long spells, but I skipped that and just said a keyword on my mind obtaining the skill “chantless incantation” a tier 3 no less, but that shouldn’t have worked, I have never chanted any spells so my body shouldn’t have known how to make that spell....’ he started thinking deeply as he reached a solution ‘did I do it... by sheer brute force? now that I remember, I also had the “mana heart” and “mana veins” increasing my mana efficiency while including “mana manipulation” that gave me mana affinity. It basically gave so many bonuses that by making a simple spell I was able to do it without chanting it out loud’
Aster seemed to finally reach the answer ‘Also! I used a simple spell, from what I saw on the internet the simpler the spell the simpler its chanting, that's why it was greatly affected by my bonuses..... wait, if I have this skill now, wont it work with harder spells?’
But while starting to get stuck again inside his train of thoughts again, he reached his house and stood at the front door, stopping his thoughts for a moment “I’ll think about that while training” he said to himself as he opened the front door.
He entered his house and went to his room, he unpacked his backpack and left his new schoolbooks on top of his desk, he grabbed some spare clothing and went to downstairs ready to go again, he noticed Rosie was still not home ‘she should be still in the knights school, this year she will receive harsher training due to her ability...’
Because Rosie’s ability was a very rare and powerfull type she got more attention than normal, making her feel that she should train harder ‘after her ability evolves I think it will let her manipulate in a larger radius and also things she couldn’t see before’ Aster predicted.
Even though his future sight let him see the future, it still had some weaknesses, he could only see his future actions and the planets worldwide future, he was still unable to see the future of other people but he could still predict it by knowing their information, but it would not be a 100% correct prediction.
Aster looked a bit more inside the house and found his mother, she was cooking some steaks that she unfroze this morning “hi mom, where is dad?” he had looked around the house and also didn’t find his father.
“oh, he had something to do and went out this morning” Evelyn said, not looking at Aster because she was cooking “why do you ask?”
“nothing, just curious” Aster prepared the table to eat with his mother, after putting some forks and glasses on the table, he sat down waiting for his food.
After talking and eating with his mother, he grabbed his things and went out to train, it was around 16:15 while he was walking on the streets. After getting out of the rift, he heard some people talking.
“grandma, did you hear what happened? A rift opened in the middle of the road” an young boy said to an old woman, he was cleaning the front door of a small shop.
“of course I know it, there is always something happening every day, now keep cleaning!” she said angrily “you told me you would clean it yesterday, now don’t try to make your way out of this by telling me stories!”
“but grandma, it isn’t about the rift itself, when the awakeners got ther, there was a slaughter, almost all monsters that got outside were killed!” the kid said with an excited face “one of my friends was there, he was saved by a strong man! But later he was nowhere to be seen, or at least that’s what he told me...”
The old woman was looking at him and then she got even angrier “and you don’t even care about your friend! To think I had a grandson like that...” she said, messing with him “I suppose I will not give you the chocolate, you aren’t cleaning and you don’t even care about your friend...”
“!!!” the kid got shocked by what she said, he got up and grabbed a cloth with bucket full of water “don’t worry! I comforted him and I’m cleaning the door right now!” he said as he accelerated his cleaning progress.
But while he was cleaning, a shadow covered his body, a tall man was standing behind him, he had black hair with white strands on the sides, while being 40 years old he had a tall strong body and a refined aura, he was wearing a brown coat with a white uniform under it “kid, did you say that your friend was saved before any official awakener got there? Do you know where he lives?” the man asked, looking at his eyes.
The kid was terrified of the huge man, he responded stuttering where he lived, as he was talking the old woman took her broomstick and threatened the police officer from scaring her grandson, after calming her down and apologizing he went away meeting his companion waiting around the corner.
“so, any clues Mr.detective?” the woman said while resting her back against the wall, she was around 30 years old, had a long pure white hair and a bright blue dress with white strips, she was known as snowlady because of her unique ability to control ice and the temperature.
“yes, there is a witness who got saved by a strong awakener before any other official awakener got there, I feel that he should be the one responsible over the slaughter of all those monsters”
“and what makes you so sure to think it was him?”
“...you could say it’s the instinct of a detective” he said, pointing at his head.
Jerry the detective, he’s been working around 30 years on the police department and had a great intuition since childhood, he awakened the system when turning 18 but strangely he could only chose one class, unique class - fate detective.

While his class is about finding the future of people, he is still a detective, so the department sent him to find out who was the one that killed half of the monsters on the rift.
Because of the increase of outlaws entering the city they are preocupied of non-legal awakeners, so they are trying their best to find those kind of people.
‘after solving this case I think I’ll recieve enough experience for a level up’ because his class was a support one, he didn’t have the strenght nor skills to focus on killing monsters to level up, but because his class was a detective he could resolve cases to gain experience, the bigger and harder the case the more experience he would get.
‘after that, I will be able to recieve enough AP’s to get my next class skill, I only need to have 50 AP’s for it’
Usually, there are two ways of obtaining skills after awakening the system:
* Leveling up and obtaining them on specified levels.
* Unlocking them using AP’s on the skill shop. (each skill shop has different skills depending on the class and their prices depends on their quality)
And the obtainment of AP’s isn’t always the same, some level ups could give more or less. But for Jerry, he always got a high number of AP’s each level up, and that was because of his luck.
Every class always got one|three stats that increases with each level up, and for fate detective it was his luck and perception making it show why it was so unique, because luck is the only stat that is fixed, being unable to be increased with SP’s.
His class made his luck increase, and the more his luck increases the more SP’s and AP’s he gets, making him advance faster than the others while also obtaining extra stats to become stronger than normal detectives, but there was a problem, the skills were not cheap, the majority of his skills were around three times more expensive than other classes on the same level, making him still have the same quantity of skills compared to others.
But it wasn’t the same for his stats, after obtaining more and more SP’s he was able to increase his other stats more than normal, his body was as strong as a mid rank awakener, his mind as a mid/high awakener and his perception and luck reaching the high awakeners.
*snap snap* snowlady snapped her fingers in front of Jerry “Mr.detective we don’t have all day, I was told to come with you if anything happened, but I don’t have all day waiting for you to stop daydreaming” she said angrily after she stood there for some minutes.
“I was just thinking about some things, let's continue by first going to the witness's house” he said as he started walking towards his car, unlocking it and getting inside with snowlady.

Aster had already reached his private training room and was testing some new weapons, a gun and a spear.
He used both weapons against some dummies while also reading their two manuals on how to handle and use both weapons, handling the weapons better each time he attacked he easily obtained the two desired skills he wanted in less than half an hour.

*BZZZT* A buzzing sound was heard from the door, someone was calling “Is Sophie finally here?” Aster asked to himself as he went towards the door and looked at the security screen on the side, seeing Sophie standing there “yep, she is here” he said as he opened the door “So, what took you so long?”
“sorry, it was a bit hard to get rid of the bodyguards today, I had to do some tricks with spatial magic which I'm not so good at, wich explains why I was late”
“mmmh, okay, and now that you are here let’s talk about the favor that I wanted to ask” Aster said as he walked towards the center to the room at Sophie’s side while explaining what he wanted.
“I have two favors:
1º I was thinking about making a clone, but I don’t have the materials nor the knowledge to make it, even if I search for it on the internet I can’t find anything and if I were to obtain and evolve chemistry I would still need the base knowledge for it.
2º I want you to teach me some spells.”
“......” Sophie was proccesing in her mind if she could make the two favors, at the rank she had at the sorcerers school she could take an advanced alchemy book that explained the basics on life creation ‘with the abilities he has he shouldn’t have a problem with it’ but while she was thinking the second favor struck her head “wait, you want to know some spells?” she knew what that meant, after Aster told her the power he had, she felt that something like this would happen, but she didn’t expect it this quickly.
“yeah, I made a mana heart and mana veins yesterday” Aster said as he made a thumbs up with his hand and had a little smile on his face “It was even easier than I thought”
‘easier than I thought... easier than I thought...’ those words echoed inside Sophie's head, she remembered the days she had go through to make her mana veins, the pain she had to suffer after failing multiple times. She resisted the urge to punch him straight in the face, not knowing she did it instantly and had her fist already on his face.
After some minutes Aster was with his knees on the ground and his back straight up, his face slightly red from the punch.
“so, do you know the mistake of what you said?” she said, looking down at him with a serious face but also with an horrific aura.
“yes, lady Sophie...”
“you should know not to get cocky around your superiors, so, why do you think I punched you?”
“because I said something very hurtfull towards a thing that people had to suffer through...”
“yes, it’s okay to be a bit prideful if you are better than other people, but saying things like that will only get your face punched”
After saying that, Sophie also sat down on the floor “I’ll see if I can do your first favor, but now, let’s talk about magic” she crossed her legs as she kept talking “first of all, how much do you know about spells?”
“well, spells are separated by their elements and one needs to know an incantation or a keyword to make the spell happen”
“that’s simple but also mildly correct. Have you casted any spell yet?”
“yes and I also got a skill, it’s called ‘lighter spell’ and its basically like a lighter flame from the tip of my finger” Aster said as he also crossed his legs “I can show it to you” he lifted his index finger as he said “FIRE!!!”
A large flame came out from his finger, looking more like a flame thrower than a lighter. After a few seconds Aster stopped the spell “see? And I think I could learn more spells by myself, but I need someone to teach me more advanced spells”
“So you want me to teach you the spells I learned in sorcerer's school?”
“yep”
“do you want me to get punished? That’s a breach of information and one of the rules that everyone there must follow”
“... is it really that important? Can’t you teach me at least ‘some’ spells?” he said with pleading eyes.
“...... well, as long as nobody finds out it should be fine, but you better not use them on public” Sophie said with a serious face.
“of course! Even if I wanted to use them around people, I’m sure I would be stopped”
“???” she was confused “stopped by who?”
“oh, by my other selfs of course... wait, I think I didn’t tell you about them”
“Is it another of your abilities?”

“wait wait wait I’m not going there directly after making a clone, I plan to make a base there in future once I get stronger, that’s why I need you to teach me more about magic and spells”
“oh, that’s a relief, I wouldn’t want to lose a companion so fast, I still need your help for the future” she let out a sigh of relief.
“I’m not an idiot, I know when something is suicide, and also, I’m pretty strong, I was even able to defeat you”
“you only defeated me because of your multiple abilities, I couldn’t know what your next action would be and I also didn’t know your weaknesses.... we are getting out of track, let’s get back to the magic.”
“First of all, I will tell you how the mages are separated in powers:
1º the newly mana awakeners, they will create naturally a simple mana storage. They are the low grade awakeners.
2º scholar mages, this are the ones who advanced enough to obtain a mana heart and mana veins, while mana veins are optional it is strongly advised to get. Right now they are student’s to the sorcerers school. They are the low/mid grade awakeners.
3º advanced scholar mages, the mages who finally were able to make their first mana circle around their mana heart, increasing greatly the quantity of mana they can store, they can also enhance their mana veins, but that’s used more for the mages that fight in close combat like myself, but it will be necessary for future enhancements so you shouldn’t forget about it. They are the mid grade awakeners.
4º trained mages, the mages that ended their studies and finally reached their second mana circle, but there is still a lot more of advanced knowledge they can learn and also advance their mana veins into a mana body, increasing greatly their life span, regeneration and physical strenght, it will also increase the mana regeneration while meditating. They are the mid/high grade awakeners.
5º advanced mages, mages that decided to stay inside the sorcerers school and studied more advanced spells, they are also the ones who advanced enough to get their third mana circle and also connect their mana body with their mind, increasing even more their physical capabilities while also increasing their minds. while I have the third mana circle I’m still working on the mana body/mind. They are the high grade awakeners.”
“And we will stop there for now” Sophie said, interrupting the trance that Aster was in.
“uh? Why?”
“because of two things, first, I don’t know much about the higher grades, second, above the high grade the rankings are more complex”
“but what about the spells? You didn’t talk about them”
“well, the spells are a bit complicated to explain, but basically depending on their difficulty and your rank you will need to use different types of chanting. If an advanced mage were to chant the lighter spell you used, just by his will he could make it, but if he were given a spell that’s higher than his rank, then he would need to chant the magic spell the long way without keywords, but if he were to use a spell thats the same rank as him then he would be able to use a special keyword to activate the spell”
Aster was listening patiently, understanding what she said “so, a mages rank is their mana capacity and spellcasting, those things influence on the spells one can say and depending if the spell’s rank is higher or lower than the mages rank, it would increase or decrease the time and difficulty of the spell”
“exactly, And if one has to chant a long spell without keywords they would have to chant it in mana language”
“mana language?”
“yes, a language found inside the rifts, the worlds that had advanced mana users had the similarity of this language, we don’t know how it fully works, but after years of deciphering we were capable of ‘translating’ it to our language and also the other way around”
“making it so that recently mana awakeners could use spells, getting more used to mana?”
“yes, that makes the mana inside their body get used up, letting new mana enter the storage and increasing its maximum capacity, this is good because the newly mana awakeners only get enhanced senses and mind but not an enhanced body capable of taking more mana than normal. But there is also more, thanks to that, mages are able to use spells that are above their limit, that means that I, a high grade awakener, can also use spells that are on the grade of high/peak. Here is an example, if I were in a group and things were to get bad, I could chant a spell a grade higher above mine if I’m well protected for enough time, and let me tell you, spells above the high grades are no joke”
Aster was surprised about what she said “really? I remember that the spells that you used were already strong enough, are they that different?”
“yes, thats why I told you that above the high grades were more complex, the jumps in power increase by a lot, I don’t know by how much because I still didn’t reach that level, but I saw it and heard it from other people”
“from other people?” Aster asked curiously, he wanted to know more about the higher ranks.
“well, after awakening I got multiple masters to teach me, their power ranks weren’t always the same but they had at least a high/peak rank as a minimum” she said with a straight face, ignoring the fact that the people she was talking about could destroy a small town without a problem.
“...” Aster’s mind was blank, he couldn’t even think about what she said, he had to wait a few seconds untill he could respond “T-That's insane! Isn’t that a bit overkill?! if you got taught by such strong people since first day it’s no wonder that you got so strong at such a young age! I’m sure that other people of the same rank are only old man and women HAHAHAHA!” he couldn’t control his laughter, he saw on tv that people of the high grades always looked a bit older (except a few exceptions of talented people), but he couldn’t hold his laughter after imagining a room full of midle aged people and a young Sophie in the center, standing out completely.
“PFFFF HAHAHA!” she also couldn’t hold her laughter, partially because it was true, but also because of the relaxing ambience she was in, she felt more relaxed than normal, she could feel free talking with him without being constantly monitored by other people, and even though she had to suffer so much to get this power that she didn’t even want, it felt good to be praised like that.... at least getting a praise that felt real.
After some moments she calmed down sighing a bit after laughing, she started talking again but with a smile on her face “you shouldn’t be so mean, oh man, it’s been so long since I laughed like that” *phew* she started calming down again “we should continue with the spells, if we keep going on like this I will never be able to teach you anything”
Aster was also calming himself down as he responded “you are right, you already told me the ranks and how spells work, I think it’s time for some spel-” just as he was getting himself up, he felt his mind stop, he saw as the world changed in an instant.
He was in a normal looking room with a table and a chair at the center, there was a note on top of the table, Aster already knew where he was after seing an identical place before.
He grabbed the letter.
‘sorry, but I need to try some experiments outside, It also includes learning spells without you doing it’

Aster read the signature of who wrote the small note as he felt his blood boil slightly as his chance to learn spells was taken away from him.
