When I awoke, it was not in my own body. Rather, it was in the body of a small blue child. All around me other small blue children sat, crying their eyes out in a catatonic symphony of tears. I assumed they were all newborn children, judging by the amount of blood on their bodies.
“Is this… a dream?” I tried to sit up to no avail. My body was far too weak. Even clenching my hands took considerable effort. So much energy in fact, that I felt a profound sense of tiredness settle over me.
“Wow… so… tired...”
--------------
“WAAAAH!” A sudden sense of pain snapped me out of the darkness and into a frenzy. Standing above me was a massive blue giant, balded headed and red eyed. In his hand he held a seemingly incredible sharp knife, one in which he was using to carve my skin. Frantically moving my head I saw the same being done to the other children, some presumably dying as they were tossed to the ground. I realized that in the time I had fallen asleep at least 90 more children had been birthed. What kind of a dream was this? The stinging pain of metal on my skin quickly brought me back to reality.
“WAAAAH!”WAAAH”WAAAH” I began to scream without abandon-much like the other children- as my flesh was carved. Surprisingly I noticed the blue giant had rather dexterous hands, seeing as it was carving circles and shapes into my skin. The creature started at the base of my right leg, drawing lines and swirls until it reached the top of my thigh. Then it removed the knife and began to carve over my left arm, delicately cutting my fingers and up around my heart. All the while I screamed in terror and pain, thinking the beast was going to kill me. When it was finally done I had no more energy left to scream and promptly passed out, noting a rather soft substance on my back as I was set down.
“Fuck… just let it end.”

I do not know how many days passed after I had my skin carved. All I know is that I woke up with an insane hunger, even stronger than the one I had on earth before I learned I had cancer. Thinking of earth brought a weird feeling to my heart. What happened there, now that I had died? How did my parents feel? Did they get my notebook? Hundreds of thoughts swirled through my mind before another pang of hunger hit me. I tried to use my feeble strength to search for something edible but it was no use. I couldn’t even manage to get my back off the ground. Not to mention my wounds from being used as a canvas still hurt. Oddly enough, the pain wasn’t that bad. The markings were almost numbed, and I was curious to see what they looked like.

*Thump*Thump* My heart froze in silence as the sound of repeated thumps echoed off in the distance. I stared at the entrance of the cave we were in. The area of the cave I was in was about the size of a large high school gymnasium, if not a little larger. There was only one exit , a tall passage at the opposite end of the room. Looking around, I also noticed that only about 40 or so blue babies survived the carving. Every one of them had a different series of spirals, lines and triangles on them. Some, I admit, looked pretty bad ass. Flowing lines of symmetry with intersecting spirals flowing into a perfect set of triangles, or intricate circles ending in complex geological patterns. Others, were a bit less… artistic. Crisscrossing patterns, simple circles and jagged triangles… I sorely hoped mine weren’t bad.
*Thunk* I nearly jumped in fright as the body of a massive animal was thrown right next to me, nearly crushing me and the babe on the other side. At massive, 15 foot tall blue giant garbed in strange animal clothing sat at the entrance with a large club in his right hand. Reaching behind its back it pulled out a small knife- which was the size of a long sword to a normal human- and cut a thin line down the tigers stomach. Then it began to brutally rip the tiger apart, tearing off the tigers head and extraordinarily long tail.
The giant promptly turned and left after that, letting the intense scent of blood fill the air. My mouth watered at the smell. How could something smell so good yet look so gross? Part of the tiger’s body had been completely smashed, causing bone and intestines to stick out. Despite that, it looked so damn tasty… using a strength I never knew I had I began to slowly crawl towards the tiger, my previous wounds suddenly becoming much more painful. Out of the corner of my eyes I could see other babies doing the exact same, using every ounce of strength to make it to the massive tiger. When I finally reached the beast I took a deep breath and nearly shivered in pleasure. Disregarding any notion of manners or politeness I began to savagely bite into the tigers muscles, ripping out as much meat as I could at a time. Soon 20 other babies were doing the exact same, chewing with a vigor that may have surpassed mine.
*Buuurp* After the other children and I had demolished the tiger I let out a large burp that seemed to deflate my stomach by two sizes.
- I haven’t eaten like that since… since I was nine- Tears began to slowly fall down my face, unbidden in their crystal clarity. And as the tears began to fall, a sudden tiredness began to fall over me. I tried to hold it back, not wanting to fall asleep yet. My body ignored my protests, however, and without a second to waste I passed out.
