FORTY-TWO
The Red Raider aimed his hands at Hank and Marjorie. His mechanic gloves started to glow menacingly. Invulnergirl knew what he was going to do. Incinerate her mom and friend with his energy blast. She had to protect them, but she was afraid she wouldn’t be there fast enough to.
Suddenly there was a gush of wind, a pink flash and Hank and Marjorie were gone. The Red Raiders blasts hit empty space. He turned around, annoyed when he heard a voice behind him.
“Too slow,” Johnny Bubblegum said, Marjorie and Hank next to him. Thank god, the hero was back on his feet again after having had a lifesaving piece of his mysterious bubblegum. Apparently, using his superspeed he’d followed The Athlete’s directions to come over to the store.
“I’ll give you slow,” The Red Raider said and jumped at Johnny. Faster than Invulnergirl could blink the hero in pink and her loved ones were out of the way again, though. The Red Raider crashed on the floor.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
“Surrender,” a new voice said. It was Warrior Witch, dressed in her Viking-like battle armor, covered in runes. Next to her was The Athlete.
“Never!” The Red Raider said and fired another energy blast. Warrior Witch simple held up her hand and a shield of light caught it, protecting both her and The Athlete.
“You really caused a lot of trouble here, didn’t you?” Warrior Witch said. “I am here to tell you it’s game over. Step out of the armor and come with us willingly or I will peel it from you.”
“Pry it from my dead body,” The Red Raider said.
“That will not be necessary,” Warrior Witch said and made some arcane gestures in the air, saying an ages old spell. The armor turned liquid, dripping from the villain’s body. All that remained was a red skintight suit.
“Athlete?” Warrior Witch asked her fellow hero.
“No,” he said. “I think Invulnergirl will want to do the honor.”
“Gladly,” Invulnergirl said and with one haymaker punch knocked out The Red Raider.
She blew on her knuckles. “That felt good!”
