A Talk and a wake up

A Talk and a wake up

We ended up stealing a small cart and a horse to transport Jane back to our home, or I wouldn't call it stealing, I left a small pouch of gold for the horse and cart, well over the price originally paid for it, why I say steal is because I didn't ask I just took it.

As we traveled down one of the old mud and dirt roads, Julius decided to speak for the first time since we left.

"What was the volturi doing here, I know they try to avoid you, but for them to come all the way here, and then take a boy being burned at the stake, it just doesn't make sense." Julius said as he led the horse on.

Standing on the other side of the horse, I answered his question.

"I don't know, I think the only one that can answer that question is her, but still that was a big over step on their part. And it's not a good sign either, if they are willing to push on my boundaries I have set with them, that means they are getting confident, and that might make them do something stupid."

Of course I knew why they came here, and that was for Jane and Alec, but what I didn't know was why they only took Alec and left Jane behind.

"I'm certain they came here for the one thing the volturi's leader Aro loves more than anything and that's to add to his collection of unique vampires."

Julius looks over the horse at me.

"But neither of them were vampires."

"That's true, but there is a chance they had abilities before they were changed. Aro probably got wind that certain individuals here had unique abilities, and came to investigate himself, but when he got here he saw they were being burned alive, so taking a chance he took one of them and changed him in the hope that his abilities will be useful and powerful when he becomes a vampire." I said, grabbing a stick that was on the side of the road.

"So he was willing to come all the way here and fight you, just for someone with abilities." Julius asked me.

"Of course he was, did you see how many vampires he came with, there were over twelve of them, and if I had to guess, they were some of his strongest ones, but what he didn't count on was you." I said looking over at julius.

"Me?" He asked.

"Yup, he knows I'm strong, and that I have been alone for over the thousand years that he's know of me, and out of nowhere I now have a companion, the odds that you are very strong is a certainty, and the facts that you have gold eyes, probably threw him off, and made him rethink attacking me when he saw me."

"Is that why you never wanted me to meet them, and keep me away from them," Julius asked.

"Yes, Aro is a person who seeks power above everything, and he sees the way to power is to have the most powerful under his command or at times control, and if he knew what your power was he would go to great lengths to have you."

"But that would never happen, they are cold blooded murderers." Julius said. The disgust was clear in his voice.

I look over to him.

"Julius, you are strong, probably one of the strongest living vampires, but there are vampires that have abilities that can mess with your mind, and you would never even know it, they can alter your loyalties, making me the bad guy and them gods in your eyes."

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

He looks over at me, a worried look on his face.

"The first time I met the volturi, they tried to do that to me, the only problem is, it didn't work, but it would work on you, or I think it could, you are very strong willed, so you might be able to fight it, but I'm not sure." I said, swinging my stick at the shrubbery on the side of the road.

"Why do you even tolerate them, you could have killed them all when you first met them." Julius asked me.

"The vampire world needs rules, and that's what the volturi bring to the vampires, that's why I hate the Romanian coven so much. at the moment the Romanian coven is the ruling vampiric coven, and they let there vampires murder entire villages with no consequences, no rules, murdering hundreds or thousands because they think they are God's among men, but the volturi…they have "rules", like keeping the vampire world hidden from regular humans, and to only drink and kill those who nobody will notice if they went missing, or were found dead on the side of the road."

"A necessary evil." I finished.

After a few more hours of travel we finally arrived at my home.

The small stone structure, a comfort to see.

Parking the wagon by the front door I pick up Jane from the back and bring her inside, Laying her on my bed, I cracked the door open and walked into my sitting room, and did as the room's name implies, and sat down in my lazy boy, letting out a groan of comfort as I fell into the comfortable chair.

A moment later, Julius comes in and sits in his chair, the room fell into silence for a few moments.

"What now?" Julius asked.

I look over at him.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I mean, what do we do about the new member of our group," he asked.

I sat for a moment, thinking of what to do.

I knew that Jane would be different then Julius, her hate for humans could be a problem, And that it would be harder to get her to drink animal blood instead of human blood.

"I think we will do the same thing I did with you." I say, pulling the lever on the side of my chair, and bringing up the leg part of my chair.

"As soon as she wakes we will take her north and away from any village or settlement, and get her on animal blood, but that may be harder to do, then it was with you." I say.

Julius looks over at me.

"Why would it be harder?"

"Well, let me ask you this, if you and your little brother were being burned at the stake, would you have a problem with humans."

Julius raised an eyebrow.

"I see where you're going with this, and I can see how she might have a hate for people." Julis said.

"All we can do for her is try and help her, get her to change her view of humans, that not all of them are like that."

"And plus, all of them will be dead within the next 40 years." But before I could finish speaking.

CREAK…BOOM!!!

Standing to my feet, I only had seconds to avoid a blurring figure that was heading right for me.

As I moved to the right, the blurring figure of Jane, crashed right into my lazy boy.

Pieces of wood and animal furs went everywhere, as my most beloved possession was destroyed right in front of my eyes.

My mouth was agape as I stared at the pieces of my chair that lay scattered everywhere.

Looking up I had to dodge the blurred arm that was launched towards my head.

But instead of dodging, I grabbed the arm mid swing, my other hand shoots out and grabs Jane by the neck, and I lift her off the ground, my 6 foot 3 figure dwarfing Jane's 5 foot 4.

"Do you know how long it took me to get that chir perfect!" I yelled at her.

Her eyes now wide with fear, as she stared at me, and tried her hardest to get out of my grip.

"I mean really, I just got a perfect butt imprint and everything." I yelled. Shaking her hard enough to break a normal person's neck.

I don't think I had been this mad in almost 900 years. And I was ready to end Jane now, her powers be damned.

"Adam, calm down, you can make another one, it's not like you don't have forever to do it." Julius said, grabbing my arm.

I look over at him.

"But Julius, it was perfect." I whined.

He looked at me, like I was stupid.

"Let her down, you geezer." He said.

I stared at him for a moment, going over the idea of just breaking her head off, then re attaching it for payback for breaking my chair, but after a moment I figured it wasnt worth having julius nagging at me.

"Fine" I said, letting go of her neck abruptly, causing her to fall to the ground like a sack of potatoes.
