Chapter 4: Otaku101-Exhbit A: ***** is for the weak

"Genjo!" The instructor bellowed harshly.

"Yes, teacher!" I stood up anxiously and responded to his call. The raven-haired, tall teacher stared at me firmly for a few seconds, adjusted his glasses and coughed before following:

"Do you see this chalk I'm holding, Genjo?" He asked while pointing to the object in his fingers.

I nodded more than necessary, and some of the children giggled.

"THIS will land between your two eyes if I'm not satisfied with your next answer. You won't be able to dodge, and trust me when I say it hurts." The man continued with an evil smile that made me quiver some. I had no doubt regarding the veracity of the sentence.

"Now for the question..." I gulped when the man slowly trod on the podium. The index of his clenched palm landed on his name, which I identified as "Mitsugu TOYAMA." Right next to his name was his age of 28 and a few disciplines familiar to any Naruto fan.

What he did next was pointing on the "BUKIJUTSU" he had written before asking:

"Tell us some of the things I mentioned previously about Bukijustu and more precisely throwing weapons."

I didn't hesitate to summon back the invisible controller and pause the menu. I then looked inside the ENCYCLOPEDIA before I answered the question in detail. I wasn't too proud of doing this, but I didn't want to experience what that small piece of chalk could do to my head.

I was already cheating when I got this gaming ability, and the man appeared to be a weapon master of all things! There was no valid reason to try my luck since I would probably be cheating on written tests in the future.

When the teacher let me off the hook and praised the quality and detail in my response, I used that time frame to study the PAUSE and FAQ settings in more detail. Asking questions about basic system options didn't seem to bother Lightning:

What the "pause" option really did was stopping the world itself. Time outside of the game still passed, though.

Lightning had told me that I couldn't use this cheat to attack people or literally cheat and ace exams. Copying during tests or using the menu to train was out of the question.

Lastly, avoiding damage or moving to other locations was banned; My body would be returned to its previous position, with its previous stance.

PAUSE was only suitable for thinking, planning, or surfing through the other menus.

When I resumed my "new life," I figured that it was only the first day of class by the time the lecture ended. Our teacher explained that new courses had only two teachers who were usually chunin. The man himself was only recently promoted to jonin a few days ago.

The man enigmatically thanked some of the children who had parents specializing in weapons. Toyama would teach till the end of the semester before he assumed new duties, which meant three months. Special request of the Hokage for some reason. I figured he would probably be handsomely rewarded.

He would probably leave once they found a replacement of the same caliber. Since the Third Shinobi World War had yet to start, Hiruzen was apparently relaxed concerning jonin deployment. The man didn't like paperwork, and dealing with unsatisfied parents would only serve to give him headaches.

"I wonder If I could exchange the Shadow clone technique If I taught him to deal with his archenemy efficiently." I mused. I didn't like the man but being close to him would be useful for my training. But a talentless nobody like me would probably have to work his way up before he could develop any type of bond with a man of that importance.

I didn't really come to change the story this time. Fun wasn't my priority, so antagonizing people I didn't care for due to their choices in life wouldn't be my first concern.

"A day outside is a year here. I have six years before I can meet Naruto and another eleven years before he beats up Mizuki..." Could I really wait for eighteen years before I got my hands on that broken Jutsu? The answer was NO.

"I'm not even sure my calculations are accurate since Kakashi is twenty-seven when he tests Team Seven."

I thought I would figure this out as things went. I had a lot of nothing but time on my hands. The objective was to grow as strong as Kakashi, at least. I was sure that with that level of strength and speed, I could survive in six months.

****************

"I'm home!" I yelled when I entered "my" house. The house of the character I "created" was simple. I wasn't sure if the boy was just a minor character or died before Naruto started. Anything was possible with Lightning.

"Welcome back! How did your day go?" My mother asked me as she came out of the kitchen. She wore an apron as she came to greet me and looked excited. It was weird how comfortable it felt when she hugged me. Her angelic white bangs brushed my face before she released me from the embrace.

She didn't look like my real mother partly due to her tanned skin and short hair, but she was lovely. My natural mother was more of an Amazonian despite her pale skin—black hair, tall, and toned frame. I didn't inherit that frame or the blue eyes like Shiroka did. However, cultivators grew taller and muscular as they advanced. I would remain an unattractive grim-looking man if it wasn't because of Lightning.

My only notable features were my tanned skin, coffee-colored eyes, and the white hair growing in the same messy style as my father's. The man's hair was brown, but we figured I had taken after his own dad.

Hair color could fluctuate between close relatives ever since the cultivation era started. Scientists hadn't figured why purple, pink, and blue hair existed to this day. Guess our world had geared towards the logic of anime.

And I was the living proof with my broken system. Lightning allowed me to retain my fundamental appearance in a digital world. And by fundamental, I mean a carbon copy, something not possible in the age of space warcraft.

Speaking of prints, it was weird how I looked just like this woman I just met...

"It was okay," I replied with a smile before I took my shoes off, and we talked in detail. It seemed as if I was spoiled in this life. My parents didn't have other children after eight years. They had been living in Konoha ever since the second war ended.

There were some plotholes in Naruto concerning Minato and Nagato's age. I didn't know if the system would correct those by having Jiraiya teach Minato before the rain orphans. Nagato died at 35 while Minato died at 24; he should have been 41 by the time he was resurrected. Considering the time lapse between Nagato's death and the beginning of the fourth war, there should have been a difference of five years between their ages.

People said there were ten years between the second and third wars. Kakashi was born two years after the second war then. But since the third war begins when he is 13, there should be around eleven years before the second and third.

It was all approximations...But it helped me understand that my new parents had moved to Konoha two years before the son of the white fang was born.

The third war lasted one year, and Itachi was six years younger than Kakashi. The man would be born four years after the third war.

"I'll be seventeen when he is born, which gives me another thirteen years before the Uchiha massacre. A total of twenty-two years before the Uchiha massacre and another three years before Naruto becomes a genin."

If Kakashi was really 27 at the beginning, there's a three-year gap, which was a plothole...Whatever I don't care.

"Back already, son?"

I heard a familiar voice which I recognized as my father's an hour later. He entered the living room and put a bunch of groceries on the counter. My mom thanked him and started cooking.

That night, the three of us talked until they were satisfied. They weren't Shinobis, so they hoped for me to do well. We were living in a time of peace, so they were more concerned about happiness and dreams than me potentially dying. My memories told me that my parents surprisingly weren't against the idea.

The will of fire was burning strong. I couldn't care less about Hiruzen doing his magic, but he had apparently helped me achieve my objectives without worry.

When they went to sleep, I slipped out of my room and headed for an open field in the forest. It was enjoyable, walking around the village for the first time. I had the memories, but doing it in the first POV was a new feeling altogether.

I couldn't jump around the rooftops yet, though, so the wind didn't brush past me as it did for others in the anime.

I was full of anticipation and ready to start my training. And the whole reason why I would train at night instead of going to sleep was but ONE.

I could go to sleep at any point in time without repercussions. The PAUSE menu was really broken even with all those restrictions.
