Chapter 1. Awakening and Misunderstandings.

Chapter 1. Awakening and Misunderstandings.

Near the door, which opened after a thousand years, stand two baffled guardsmen.

The two guardsmen are dressed in black uniforms, like two members of a secret service.

The one standing to the right of the door regains his composure quicker and immediatly makes a call on his phone whilst taking out a gun.

"Come on come on come on pick up pick up...." The phone makes a sound after half a minute of calling "Young Miss! Thank god you picked up! Get back quick! The doors opened! The doors opened!!!" The guardsman shouts.

The other guardsman, who recovered his composure later, immediatly runs off to get reinforcements.

The guardsman, who is on the phone, carefully listens to the instructions of the Miss and then closes the call.

He stares straight into the room.

Nothing can be seen in it due to no light reaching into it, it's pitch black.

Two minutes later, an entire army has assembled next to the door.

"Alright... Flashbangs!" One of the guardsman shouts and about fifteen granades are thrown into the room, making it almost as bright as the sun.

A small grunt is heard from inside and with that grunt, the room is flooded by the guardsmen.

"Lights! Quick!" Another shout is heard and the entire room is illuminated with flying balls of light.

The contents of the room is shown.

A single man, whose face is covered with a slightly decayed mask and hair tied up with a hood so it cannot be seen, lying on a simple bed, the entire room surrounded in various clothing and a small, slender sword hangs from the wall.

All of the guardsmen immediatly aim at the man on the bed.

The man, Archivald, rises from his slumber slowly but surely.

He looks around and notices the men inside his room.

"Hmm... Waking up to see this was unexpected." Arc cracks his neck and rises from the bed, all the guns still aimed at him.

Why has nobody shot him yet? The answer is simple.

The moment Arc's eyes opened, all of the guardsmen were nearly knocked out by the aura given off by him.

The aura of the Immortal, who is stronger than all.

Archivald slowly walks past the guardsmen who can do nothing more than put their guns between Arc and themselves.

"You all look like you've seen a ghost. It can't possibly be me since I can still walk with my own two feet and feel the cold air on my body, well, as much of it that I can feel." Arc laughs simply.

The aura in the room starts slowly toning down.

"I see, you all cannot even handle being in my mere presence. Is there not even one of you who can call themselves a master of an art?" Arc asks a simple question but the guardsmen don't answer.

"Hmm... Seems like this is the easiest way to do things..." Arc mumbles to himself and suddenly the aura that held down the guardsmen dissapears.

All of them immediatly fall down due to relief.

Relief that they were not killed.

"So. Which one of you actually has the capability to talk here?" Archivald asks.

"I do, your majesty. We all do but I lead them for today so I must come first. My humble name is Jeremy." The guardsmen who called the Miss answers.

"Hmm... You'll do. Now tell me... Where can a man find something to drink here?" Archivald asks and Jeremy immediatly leads him outside. All the guardsmen shortly follow.

--- A little distance away ---

A convoy is speeding through a city surrounding the mountain where Arc slept for a thousand years, it is escorted by police to make the trip faster.

"Hurry up! Jeremy told me that the door opened! Who knows what might be in there! All records of what exist in there were erased!" A woman, the Young Miss, shouts at the driver.

"God damn it... What if it really is a Calamity in there... Why else would the room be sealed so tightly that not even a particle of magic can get either out or in... Ahhh! Whatever! If it's a calamity I just have to contain it again somehow! Anastasia did it so why shouldn't I, Emilia, the descendant of her, not be able to!" The Young Miss, Emilia, shouts.

The anxiety shown on her face is clear, she fears for what she might find in her own clan's headquarters.

--- Archivald's location, a grand dining room in the clan hall. ---

"Hmm. It seems the quality has gone up." Arc says whilst drinking a cup of the highest quality alcohol.

"It is to our delight that it is to your tastes." Jeremy says whilst bowing.

"As I thought, being treated like a King really does not suit me. I ignored it in the past but no longer. Act more casual around me. It is also good that the language spoken has not changed. Before my slumber, I had a great dillema over the problem of languages in the future but it seems it was unneeded." Arc laughs and all the others laugh with him.

Suddenly, Arc gets all serious.

"Alright, tell me. I'm curious. Where am I? Tell me the Kingdom, the province, the city or town where I am in. I cannot hold myself back any longer." Arc looks at Jeremy.

Jeremy then turns his gaze towards one of his subordinates.

"Alright, I shall talk for Jeremy as I am the main historian in our clan. The name is Anthony. Pleased to meet you." The guardsmen, who has a red line on his shoulder, speaks up.

"Your Greatness is currently located in the Imora Federation. The Federation is comprised of exactly fifty one cities, each holding the exact same amount of power in the Federation regardless of their true power. Our city is one of the biggest and most prestigious in the Federation and is humbly called, Draydon.

Each city has a leadership similiar to the Federation, many clans and houses form it. The difference here is that the political power differs based on your actual power.

Our Clan, which is the oldest and strongest in Draydon, is called The Slumbering Sect and it is located on the most honorable mountain, The Chamber Mountain.

Our Slumbering Sect is a matriarchy founded by the Great First Matriarch, Anastasia, whose family name is not known.

The current Matriarch is a direct descendent of Anastasia and her name is Emilia.

That is all I can tell you right now since even I do not know it all from the top of my head." Anthony then sits down, exhausted.

Archivald sits there, taking small sips from his cup.

"Say... Has there been any records of an Empire named Immel?" Arc suddenly asks Anthony who shakes his head.

"No... I, who have studied most of the books from the time of our Great Matriarch Anastasia, has not even heard of that name or any Empire of that time..." Anthony answers clearly.

Arc then thinks to himself: "She properly did her part. I guess now I have to uphold my part. The promise I made to her."

Suddenly, the doors are thrown open by a small girl, who recently reached the age of sixteen.

"Young Miss Emilia! You have returned!" Jeremy immediatly jumps up and goes up to the girl.

"What are you all doing?! Throw out this filthy masked guy! Why aren't you guarding the chamber and instead drinking!? What was in the chamber!?" She starts shouting orders and questions..

Jeremy tries to explain but Emilia doesn't listen at all and after half an hour, an unexpected conclusion ,due to many misunderstandings on Emilia's part, happens.

Emilia challenges Archivald to a duel.

"There's no way that a man, who has to cover his entire head and only has clothes like that can defeat me! You do not need to worry about my safety." Emilia explains her reason for the duel like that.

Archivald, seeing no reason to deny the duel, accepts and follows Emilia to a courtyard overseeing the entire city.

"Ohoo... It indeed is a big city." Arc says whilst looking at the scenery, making Emilia slightly more mad.

"Hey you! We are supposed to duel! Stop looking away! Or are you trying to stall so you won't have to admit to the fact that you somehow snuck into the chamber and are now trying to seem like you were contain in the chamber? You damned hobo!" Emilia shouts out.

Archivald doesn't even try to refute her since he knows that, due to decaying, his clothes are similiar to that of a beggar.

"Well then, come at me." Arc says confidently, completely enraging Emilia who has completely misunderstood everything Jeremy told her.

From Emilia's viewpoint, Archivald somehow managed to get past Jeremy and hide the treasures and then pretends to be a great being worthy of being sealed in such a great room.

Emilia, now completely enraged, charges at Archivald.

A gust of wind blows, not due to natural causes but due to the speed of Archivald.

Emilia is suddenly on her back, her sword and every single strand of armor on her body has vanished into thin air.

Archivald, who is looking at the city, pays no attention to the confused Emilia.

The guardsmen, who had witnessed the aura of Arc firsthand, felt like this was a natural outcome.

"Eh? Wh.... What?" The late reaction of Emilia slowly starts coming.

"Why am I on the ground? Where is my armor? Where is my sword?" She barrages herself with questions and slowly gets up.

"I... I want a rematch! I don't know what happened but you probably can't do it again!" She shouts whilst putting on a new set of light armor and getting a new sword.

None of them have said this due to it being natural, but magic is used everywhere.

The armor, the sword and everything else is enchanted with magic.

Archivald however, did not use a single strand of magic but purely his own natural speed.

This is why she thought that Arc probably can't do it again since no traces of magic means that a magic that can only be used once or twice a day was casted.

"The outcome won't differ but if it sates your curiosity. So be it." Arc says and waits for Emilia to get ready.

"Alright... Start!" Jeremy shouts again and the same outcome happens.

Emilia, now on her back without any sort of armor or weapon.

She slowly gets up and looks at the man infront of her.

She finally understands that something is wrong.

"Jeremy. Tell me again. What did you say to me earlier..." She asks and Jeremy speaks again.

Half an hour passes as Emilia thinks.

"That can't be possible... Just for a single person that good of a seal? There's no calamity? But... But the riddles!? The warnings on the walls!?" She then suddenly remembers something.

The oldest part of the clan hall.

The part constructed by Anastasia herself.

"Slumbering One... The Immortal..." She looks at the man standing near a cliff.

"There is no calamity... There is only a man... A man so powerful that if woken prematurely and angered... Would be a calamity..." She starts laughing to herself.

"My grandma, my ma and me... We all misunderstood the readings! There is no monster sealed in something in the chamber! The chamber is meant for a man to sleep!" Emilia then jumps up and walks towards Archivald.

Archivald slowly turns around and looks Emilia who bows.

"I'm very sorry... I misunderstood completely... I jumped to conclusions since I panicked... I'm very sorry!" Emilia bows.

"It is fine. You finally understood. This truly was faster than trying to explain to you with words. It seems my eyesight and judgement of people has not deteriorated during these years. I do hope that you will now listen to my name though.

Also, don't go formal on me. I have already went through around fifty years as royalty, now it is time for me to enjoy this time with no restictions put on me.

The name is Archivald Peglion. My age is unknown to even me. I hope that you won't throw me out of your house now that I disrespected you so." Archivald smiles and holds out a hand towards Emilia who is looking at him in surprise.

"Mr. Ar- No, Archivald... My name is Emilia Campbell. My surname is my Father's, as is tradition. If I may have the honor... Can I know what the First Matriarch had as her surname? It is lost to time and our clan has tried all to find it again... You, who she served with such fervor, should know..." She asks while looking down.

"Her full name was Anastasia Imera Flora Vicier. If you wish to know more... Just know that she was my First companion, my childhood friend and also... A queen who never got to be a queen." The last sentence confused everybody except Arc.

After a minute of silence, Emilia breathed in and out and then looked Arc straight in the eyes.

"Let me introduce myself again... My name is Emilia Vicier. It's a pleasure to meet you, Archivald Peglion." She smiles at Archivald and shakes his hand.
