The Mystery Message

Milo looked to his left and to his right, just to make sure no one was in sight. Then he pushed the button on his phone to retrieve his message.

Milo,

Sorry it took so long to keep in touch with you. I have to be extra careful it's properly encrypted and will be very difficult to trace. Hope you are doing well.

I've been doing fairly mundane stuff over at the Ariguar office…things I could do back home. Whatever reason they wanted me transferred, they haven't told me for some reason. I have yet to hear anything from Bohr since he was demoted as well. Keep your head on a swivel and stay safe.

Your friend,

Kayla

"Mr Greene" said a woman popping her head outside the door Milo was standing next to, "Congressman Tinker will see you now." Milo quickly removed the message from his screen and walked inside to Clay Tinker's office. The short man with very well-kempt hair shook his hand as he sat down in front of his desk. The congressman hit eight different buttons on his safe and took a folder of papers from it.

"You know that I have been an advocate of not only you but our now-former Director Bohr." Milo could tell that he wasn't going to like the way this conversation was going. "So I must be frank with you. I think your best option is to submit yourself to the Royal Intelligence Service for questioning."

"What?!" said Milo sounding disappointed. "Why?"

"I have spoken to both the new CIA director Roy McGrath and individuals within RIS. I can assure you I won't let them do anything bad to you. But you at least need to go and set things straight. You went into outworld on a mission without even having a psych evaluation and without registering with elven intelligence."

"No disrespect, but you couldn't protect Bohr's position as director and you're going to protect me?"

"Ronald had some personal issues to deal with. He had a conversation with President Alamore and both men agreed it was in his best interest to step down. Believe me I wanted him to stay on."

"Is McGrath insisting on you doing this?"

"Yes. He wanted you sent to Ariguar with Ms. Rall but I haggled him down to this. I do have some weight and influence to throw around, in spite of what you may think."

"Fine" Milo said figuring it was pointless to argue. "But can they come here to have a supervised interrogation with me instead of me having to go see them?"

"Don't push it. I don't think you understand how easy you've got off." Milo's heart sank some.

"Thank you, Mr. Tinker" Milo said with a sigh, and he shook hands with him and was off. Milo returned back to his home, attempting to get his mind off of things. As he was cooking his evening meal, he got another message notification. He took his phone from his pocket and opened his message.

I have very important information for you that you will not want to do without. Meet me in the situation room at HQ tomorrow night ten minutes to midnight. I will leave the door unlocked for you.

Milo replied saying "who is this", feeling puzzled and kind of excited over the message. It was a message over the secure agency network, but he didn't recognize the number. After he finished eating, he checked and still saw that he had no reply, so he decided to get ready to go to bed early.
