Waking up an undeterminable amount of time later, Noah found that he was feeling full. It was a weird feeling because he hadn’t eaten anything in what only could be days by now, if not a week. It only took a moment more of introspection to realize it wasn’t from his stomach but his core. It seemed that his body likened his core filling up with having too much to eat.
This also allowed him to think about the situation. Unless his core was actively pulling in energy, which was not what he felt before he fell asleep, then his core was producing energy… from where he didn’t know, but this would be immensely helpful if he created an unlimited fount of energy to pull from for the tutorial.
That didn’t change the fact that he should probably use all of the energy floating around in his core before it started to fill beyond capacity. Sitting up, he could still feel a small twinge of a headache. Which just made what he did the previous time annoying. If he was still feeling the strain of what he did, would he be dealing with headaches all the time?
“No, stop getting distracted. But to avoid headaches in the future, I should probably experiment on increasing my mental stats instead of my physical ones.” Noah announced to himself, sitting down to focus on the energy in his core. He just needed to pull it up to his brain so it could refine? Refine’s a good enough word for what he’s planning. Use the energy to refine his brain.
He walked into the same problem as the last time he had tried to move his energy freely. The stuff seemed to move through his mental pushes like a hand through water, just being pushed slightly and then flowing around it. He let out a slow growl even if it might have been slightly easier than before and kept attempting. He would last for all but a minute before he opened up his eyes in annoyance.
“How bloody hard can it be to move some damn energy!” he yelled, not even noticing how little time he had actually spent on the task before he grew impatient. Sitting back down and trying to focus, he found himself growing angrier and angrier at the inability to move the energy, trying to envision his mental ability like a trap, containing a portion of the energy and moving it up.
His teeth were actively grinding together as he tried to latch onto the tiniest fragment he could get a hand on. If he couldn’t go macro, he’d spend the time and go micro until this damn energy wouldn’t feel like it was trying to actively avoid his influence.
When his mind finally forced a small fragment of the energy to be stuck in his grasp, he found a unique phenomenon. The energy would not be alone, and soon, even though he was controlling a tiny portion of it, a ball of energy was moving up to his head. He was distracted and let the energy go in his head, only for it to start returning to his core as he thought about it. The unit of energy might not be measured in any standard metric, but by the smallest amount energy will naturally form.

Refocusing back on his task, he once again grabbed the energy fragment he had been using and brought it back up to his head. He let out a nervous breath as he began the part he was nervous about. Doing what he thought of based on the fiction he had read, he tried to have the energy be absorbed into his brain and improve it. He did see the energy disappear so he thought he was getting somewhere, but the more energy disappeared, the more the remaining energy moved toward his core.
He continued to force energy from his core up to his brain and be absorbed into the brain, refining his brain to make it better. Sadly putting so much focus on moving his energy caused his headache to build up again, but at the end of his mental stamina, he had managed to empty his core.
What was amazing to him as he laid down after completing the task was he could already feel the difference. He felt like he could have more mind to think, and his thoughts moved faster through his brain than before he started the exercise. Either he had developed some mental skills that were helping him, or he had raised his mental stats. He decided to check his sheet to be sure.

Looking at his skills, he gave a smile From all the fights, his core skills had all improved. And due to the work he did with creating his core and refining his body, he had gained the energy manipulation skill, which would be useful for future use of the damn stuff. Though thinking about how skills worked, even if they didn’t give boons and were only representations of his abilities, it was nice to see he was on the right track.
He tried to stand up again, only for the headache that had built from his efforts of trying to upgrade his body to come back, and he fell back with a groan. “Even with more mind to think, the splitting pain is filling my whole brain up.” he could only complain, lying back so he could try and sleep. It was better than trying to do anything with the headache distracting him, and he honestly wanted to avoid the headache as much as possible.
