It All Begins

“Welcome future heroes!” a powerful voice called out across the room that 1000 humans found themselves in. No pattern could be distinguished other than the fact that they had to be over 16 from what one man could tell. “You have been saved from death to participate in my sincere effort to save my world!” A beautiful man called out from the front. His size was deceptive, as it looked like he was directly over Noah. The visual effect caused him to blink and rub his eyes. The weird visual effect distracted him.

To take his thoughts off the situation he looked around, wondering how everyone else died.

“Mommy!” a girl called out, clutching at herself desperately as she crumpled to the floor, seemingly afraid of everyone as she flinched away from anyone who tried to help her.

“Somehow even now I am luckier than others.” Even if he died malnourished and wanted to save someone from an accident, His poor life was still better than those around him.

“Everyone will be given my divine gift of grand forge!” The man called out, redirecting everyone’s attention back to him, his voice seemed to have an effect that forced your thoughts back to him. Since it was so easy for Noah to stop thinking about what the crying girl might have gone through. A knife appeared in the man’s hand, though now that Noah thought about it, the man was probably a god and this was an isekai scenario… wonder who out of the mass here gets the power fantasy scenario? “You will be able to forge weapons out of your skills and loot, having their power expand your might!” The man called out, as the knife turned into a flaming scythe.

“As your power grows. Your weapons will grow stronger, your abilities will allow you to do more. But this gift comes at a cost.” The man announced as visions appeared in everyone's minds. The visions were horrid. Monsters were ravaging the land, and to Noah’s shock, they weren’t censored. He saw beasts tearing humans apart. “You must prevent the influence of a foreign god from turning this world into a spawning pit for his beasts!”

“That bastard!” Came someone from beside Noah, he could feel anger flow through him at the thought of that foreign god having his way with… wait a second. His thoughts didn’t go to protecting the humans, just stopping the foreign god. Noah could tell now that the god was using mental influence to guide people down the path to fight the monsters, but was that just to give the meek he summoned the courage to do what was needed?

“I have loved watching your world. And your video games have helped me change how my blessings reach my people. Everyone has a status window that shows their stats, skills, and unique abilities. Thinking about it, a screen like in every isekai he’d ever read showed up in front of Noah, giving him his basic stats.

Heh. was almost DND stats until ego. Did they not want to put your ability to communicate with others into a stat? Better for him, he didn’t want to have a stat with 1 on his sheet.

“Everyone has a character sheet. Even the natives. But with your skills, your power will surpass those who would be your peers. Now, while I can’t drop you in the middle of the world without some preparation, I will send you all to what you would consider a dungeon. When you clear the dungeon, you will be able to enter the outside world without that damn outer god killing you before you are ready.

Noah could hear the murmurs picking up as people realized they would start alone, and their fears started to return. He couldn’t blame them for that. Many people may not be suited for combat and receiving no aid other than a “tutorial” dungeon didn’t help. He could see a good number of people excited though. They thought the world was served up to them on a silver platter. Just the fact the god needed to summon one thousand people told Noah that this wasn’t the normal power fantasy isekai.

“I Have one last gift for you all!” Noah turned back to the man. A large screen appeared in front of the man, but for some reason, the man was still fully visible. Adam would need to get used to the god being front and center if you ever looked at him because currently, it was messing with Noah’s mind.

“Each of you will be drawn a ticket.” As the man said that, Noah noticed a slip of paper in his hand, looking at it, the top of the slip was shining gold. “The number on your ticket decides your turn order in deciding a boon to aid you on your journey.” Hearing that Noah’s shoulders slumped. Knowing his luck, he would get one of the higher numbers, meaning he would start with a less useful skill. What he didn’t expect though, was for the number of the ticket to be: 1000.

“Now if number 1 could please step up to the podium and chose their gift please!” The god called out in a happy tone. This didn’t even cause Noah to see what was going on as he sat down. He would get the absolute worst ability. Seeing he was the last one seemed to cause physical pain in him. Hopefully, he wouldn’t be pushed to fight on the frontlines as he was the literal worst of the summoned people in his mind. He would sit for over two hours until they got to the last 100 people.

“Now I must confess something. I didn’t prepare a blessing for everyone. In fact, I must recoup my losses for summoning you all, so I Chose one hundred of you to donate your potential for the cause.” The god said, his grin wide as Noah looked up at him. The feeling of fear building. “You one hundred will not be given a choice in what happens to you but will be given a curse based on your luck. The man’s grin grew more and more menacing as he went.

“This world is not a forgiving place, and since you weren’t gifted with the power to receive a boon, you will be fuel for the strong.” He announced, causing many of the remaining people to cry in despair, Noah would notice just now that the people who chose their powers had already left. “And don’t worry about dying. Your curse comes with a seal that will drain your potential upon death. So fight as much as you can. So I can restore my power.” The man announced, right before Noah was also teleported away from the room he was in,

Noah found himself in complete darkness. He didn’t have much time to react to the development when a small campfire lit near his feet, lighting the small room he was in. The fact it was all rock told him that his dungeon was some sort of cave. That didn’t occupy his mind for long though, as he immediately sat down and opened up his status sheet to see what happened to him.

“Fuck you!” He called out to the heavens. That bastard of a god stole 6 of his stats and the one boon he was fucking given, just to make enemies stronger when he fought them. They might as well have just blood sacrificed him with how good he’d be. Wait a second. He practically was a blood sacrifice! His entire reason for being here was to struggle and gain some extra power just so it could be funneled back to that damn god!

And looking over the one part of him that wasn’t stripped from him or given in a pathetic form, isn’t unbound mind just his autism? What does his autism have some sort of special effect in this world? dammit being malnourished made his constitution a 2, What sort of brain did he now have since his intelligence was weaker and his wisdom was also the equivalent of someone who likely died of starvation!?

He could feel his heart beating rapidly, and if he didn’t do something quick, he’d probably have his body flood with adrenaline and waste it. Thinking back to the meditation techniques he tried to use before he was fired from his only job, he found they were missing from his mind, and his breathing was speeding up. “Fuck it, if I’m going to use everything up now, might as well do the best I can.”
