Chapter 4 - Travelling

-

-

Today was the day that Sister Ling would come back to the Yu Sect. Yu Jian had spent the last couple of days walking through the Sects building exploring the unknown corners of the building he had lived in the last 8 years.

Has it really been 8 years? Time goes so fast! I know time goes faster when you do something you enjoy, but 8 years??

Walking further, Yu Jian suddenly found himself inside the training hall where it all started. At that moment Yu Jian had been to busy looking at all the amazing statues and details in the ceiling to take note of where they had walked. Now, after cultivating to the top, he could remember the path as if he had tried his best at the time to memories it.

Where it all began… I wonder what to do next. I guess i’ll have to ask Sister Ling if she knows of something. Maybe I should try to learn some martial arts?

With no talent for martial arts, Yu Jian had never though of even trying it before now. With no idea if there was even a next stage in cultivation, time had to be spent at something else.

Looking further down the training hall, Yu Jian could see 37 outer sect students copying the moves of the teacher in front of them.

Suddenly, Yu Jian realized that this teacher had to be one of the elders of the Yu Sect. The robe the teacher was wearing had the symbol of elder on the back.

Analyzing the elders every move, he came to realize how profound this martial art really was. The students weren’t even close to get a grasp of the elders techniques.

Slowly Yu Jian started to follow the elders moves, getting the feeling through his body.

Seeing a fighting dummy right next to him, Yu Jian decided to try out these new moves.

Twisting your wrist like that, following up with an angle like this…  Yu Jian began calculating the moves.

Stepping forward, Yu Jian released a seemingly normal punch to the dummy. This technique used the twist of the wrist to vibrate the Chi in the users body, sending it into the target and destroying them from within.

Landing the punch Yu Jian felt satisfied by the feeling of it and left the hall. Sister Ling would come in about half an hour and Yu Jian wanted to be one of the first to greet her.

Later, one of the outer sects students decided to try out the new skill on a dummy. Picking the one Yu Jian had been to earlier, he started charging up his punch.

Just as the punch landed it went right through the dummy, Breaking it like a kinderegg. The dummy was completely hollow with only a millimeter left as a shell. The punch from Yu Jian had destroyed the matter on the inside of the dummy!

* (Pov change to Sister Ling)

As the airship started to descend, Yu Ling felt a little excited. She would finally get to see Yu Jian again!

The last 8 years had been quite tough. All the students at the Academy had to leave at least four times every year, hunting vicious beasts. For graduation, everyone had to hunt down and kill a minimum of one rank 1 desolate beast or die trying. For Yu Ling, this had not been too hard, but she felt sorry for those that had died or gotten expelled as they had failed to do this one task.

Looking down through the group of people she quickly found Yu Jian. He was now all grown up and showed a mysterious attitude. The way he carried himself was almost too royallike and unpredictable, but at the same time graceful. His black hair was now long, down to his shoulders and his skin almost seemed to be cut from top quality white jade. Without even thinking, Yu Ling jumped out of the airship and flew down to meet Yu Jian.

As she came close enough to see his eyes looking at her, she almost screamed out in surprise. They were so profound and deep brown giving of an air of mystery, yet seemed to shine at the same time.

Landing in front of Yu Jian, she was totaly dumbfounded. She could not sense a speck of Chi in him or Yuan Power for that matter. Usually cultivation would improve the body and it’s looks, so how could she not sense it?

Either he had a higher cultivation than her or he was still struggeling grasping the Chi. As being above herself in cultivation seemed impossible she naturally though he hadn’t event started.

Of the people in the outer sect, some spent 5 to10 years before they could cultivate anything at all, so her logic wasn’t completely flawed.

Suddenly Yu Jian broke the silence:

“Long time no see Sister Ling. Congratulations graduating and on breaking through the Xiantian Disciple Realm into the Xiantian Deposition Realm!”

Yu Jian said something that seemed impossible for Yu Ling to ever hear from him. At least not before she had told him herself.

“How did you know? Did someone tell you? I wanted it to be a surprise…”

“I just sensed you’re cultivation? Isn’t that what everyone does? And I am a little surprised, even though I pretty much expected it to be at the mid-tier.

“???”

Confusion could now be seen all over Yu Lings face.

H-how can he sense others cultivation? No, that’s im-impossible! I have to ask though.

Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit.

“Uum… Yu Ling…W-what’s your cultivation level?”

“Mhm? To be honest, I don’t know what level. I just know I passed peak Xiantian Realm 5 years ago, and because the book would tell how to cultivate further I had to figure out that part for myself. Wait, Yu Ling are you okay?”

* (Pov change Yu Jian/ mc)

I rushed over to Sister Ling as she was about to fall, catching her before she hit the ground. I though people in the Xiantian Realm was supposed to be tougher than normal. Fainting in this heat should be pretty much impossible. Maybe something else is wrong?

I picked her up in a princess hold and carried her to Doctor Xiaoqing. I guess meeting the doctor together is our thing?

Fast as I could without making Sister Ling uncomfortable, I rushed to Doctor Xiaoqings room, knocking three times.

I then gently kicked the door open as I carried Sister Ling inside. A strong smell of medicine could be sensed inside the room.

“What happened Yu Jian?” Xiaoqing asked as she found a wet towel to wipe Sister Lings forehead.

“Well, I don’t really know why, but…” I continued to tell her how Sister Ling jumped out of the airship and how we simply greeted each other and that I congratulated her with her achievements reaching mid-tier Xiantain Realm then later on fainted.

Just as I finished the explaining, Sister Ling woke up.

“How do you feel, Yu Ling?” Asked Xiaoqing as she continued to wipe her face gently.

However, Sister Ling didn’t say anything. She was simply staring at me, making it really awkward and silent.

Is it something I have done wrong? I don’t know anything about what women think. Was it wrong of me to greet her like normal?

Breaking the silence, Sister Ling finally began to whisper:

“You broke thru to the Realm above Xiantian??”

Was that what surprised her? I guess since it’s so long ago I didn’t even think of that as abnormal.

“Yea, I call it the Overlord Realm. You have to mix the Chi and Yuan Pow- Not you too Xiaoqing!”

After about an hour, we finally came to an end with the talking after Xiaoqing woke up and I explained how I cultivated. Surprise was written all over their faces. What they told me later was that in the southern part of the continent, the amount of immortal overlords could be counted with two hands.

In the northern parts though, it was unknown. There could be more like me who cultivated in secret, but it was highly unlikely. Yuan Power was exponentially more difficult to gather, compress and turn into the liquid Yuan Power. Most people would spend over 200 years on the last part of that process. What that meant to say was that Sister Ling was actually a prodigy among prodigies. I guess that makes me a monster.

I also found out that there were actually more steps of cultivation, but the reason it wasn’t explained anywhere was because it was different for every person after the Xiantian Realm. Most immortal overlords would spend hundreds of years trying to get insight in some kind of law or element, helping to find their cultivation path.

I guess I’ll have to do some travelling! Shouldn’t get into any trouble for now in the south unless some kind of expert comes flying from the north.

The name of the Realms above Xiantian didn’t have a spesific names. There were move like levels above. For instance, the Overlord Realm as I called it was called in general 3nd Power Realm. Kind of boring if you ask me. I’ll continue name them as I please haha! And the ranking goes up; 4th

Power Realm, 5th Power Realm. It goes all the way up to the 10th Power Realm, which is the Godlike Power Realm. Legend says that in this realm, one can control the elements to your will, split mountains with a chopstick and sleep at the bottom of the ocean seemingly forever with one single breath. Traveling among the stars was not a dream either.

I knew it was too easy! Watch out guys! If this was basketball I’ll get a penalty, cuz I’m travelling!

AN:

Probably not the best chapter, but it was neccessary to get through this part I guess.

I've never been actually "good" at beginnings, but hopefully it was enough.

I'm going to have a short (hopefully really short) break writing some chapter in advance,

because this chapter felt a little rushed right now.

I'll also hope that I'll manage to write a story that in the end will leave you with a satisfied feeling.

See you next time ;)
