Chapter 1.3

While Sylvia specializes in elemental magic, she does have knowledge in other fields. As one of the top magicians of her world she at least knows spells that practitioners of the arcane deem necessary. Among them she has a few language translation spells. Unfortunately she doesn’t have enough energy to use even the weakest one. It would take her a week to cast with her current level of power. Maybe her [Quick Mana Recovery] skill could help but completing it in one day was impossible.

Wanting to test the skill, she created a sphere of water and placed her hands inside. Adding a bit more energy, she commanded it to rub the stain – caused by eating bare handed – off. Once they were clean, she pulled out, not letting a single drop leave. She dug a hole via magic afterward then threw the dirty water in before closing it. The result – she drained around ten percent of her overall mana. And upon observation, she noticed her recovery was indeed fast.

Compared to the original Sylvia and even her former identity, her natural healing, in proportion to her current strength, was much better. If it stays the same as she regains her strength as the Elemental Lord she could probably cast spells at master class and below endlessly. Her problem however, remains the same. She needs more than a day to acquire the solution. Until then communication would be a major hassle. If only her level didn’t drop to one. No screw that! How did she end up in the girl’s body?!

Sighing in frustration, she strode to the edge of the small hut and began drawing on the ground. Since it was rigid, she had to turn the area where she draws the magic formation into mud. Whenever she finishes, she reverts the area back to its original state and does the same for the following parts. The act continued until she exhausted herself. By then half of the formation was done. If things go well it should be ready for activation in a few days. I hope nothing bad happens.

She went back to her bed, throwing all traces of dirt on her hand with magic as she did. When she was finally in her small sanctuary, she started reassessing her ability. After an hour of two of working there was no more room for questions. Altering the ground took less energy than normal. The spell she used earlier was also the same, aside the water’s creation. If her theory was correct, controlling an element that already existed was less taxing for her thanks to her [Elemental Manipulation] skill.

To further prove the idea, she produced a sphere of wind and a sphere of water after resting. The first she made by gathering the wind in her temporary residence. The other she made purely from her own energy. As expected, the former drained only half of what the latter did. Satisfied with the knowledge, she moved on to her [Elemental Fusion] skill.

She combined the two spells and produced an orb of ice. She presumed that her attempt would burn half of the energy it usually does. To her surprise, it didn’t take anything at all. T- This… is great!

A creaking sound snapped her out of her reverie. She turned to the source and saw a familiar face – who else could it be aside from her benefactor?

In a somewhat good mood, she smiled at the young man only to notice him staring wide-eyed at the orb floating inches away from her. “What? Have you never seen magic before?”

Getting no response, she absorbed the water aspect of the orb then mimicked the young man’s face due to a certain revelation – she could also absorb the wind! It wasn’t made by her yet it was actually getting converted into mana! What in the world?!

The two youths stared at each other, an expression of shock plastered on their faces. Soon, the guy asked what she was doing through facial expressions and she glared in response. I don’t know!

Ignoring her unjust reaction, the young man looked around, his eyes tracing the incomplete formation on the ground. She didn’t know how to explain herself so this time she simply scratched the back of her head and smiled. Sorry?

Sighing, her savior shot her a questioning look as he tapped his stomach.

Feeling offended, she glared again. I’m not a glutton!

Unfortunately her stomach was in its rebellious stage. It whined quite loudly, replacing her irritation with shame. Y- You stupid stomach! Why are you always doing this at the worst possible time?
