Astrid came to the queen’s room holding a dress that Noxus had picked out for her.

As she opened the door, she noticed Aurelia sitting on the bed staring at the covers. She ran to drop the dress of on a hanger in the bathroom and came to the queen’s side.

“Is everything okay?” Astrid asked as she placed her hand on Aurelia’s shoulder.

Aurelia looked at her with red puffy eyes. “There is one person I want to share this news with and she’s not here. I didn’t grow up with a mom, how am I to become one?”

“Are you unhappy with the pregnancy?” Astrid asked.

“I am worried. I am nervous. I’m not unhappy, just unsure that I will be able to do this.”

“You have shown the basilisks here so much love and care. You will make a great mother. You radiate the greatness of a mother,” Astrid said consoling her.

Aurelia took her in her arms. A thank you wasn’t needed, it was felt through the hug.

After several seconds, Astrid pulled back and told her to follow her to get ready for her date. She drew Aurelia a warm bath and waited for her in her room.

When she heard the shower turn off, she knocked on the bathroom door.

“Come in,” Aurelia said.

Astrid came into the room and started to dry her hair, using the brush to form soft waves within her dark hair. She opened the closet where she had put the dress and showed it to Aurelia.

Aurelia gazed at the dress. She felt it was far too beautiful for her to wear. The shimmery gold reminded her of the one she wore when she first met Noxus at the bus stop. Astrid helped her to get it on as the right fitting material caressed her body. Looking into the mirror, took her breath away. The useless sleeves that hung off of her shoulders reminded her of a princess from a movie and the high slit on her leg allowed her to feel sexy and beautiful at the same time, along with the bustline of the dress, that rounded her cleavage perfectly.

Astrid admired the woman before her. She was stunning, the most stunning woman she had ever seen.

Turning towards her, Aurelia asked if she looked okay.

Nodding, Astrid said, “Yes, my queen, you look radiant.”

The name caused Aurelia to blush as she pushed past her towards the door.

Before Astrid opened it, she told her that Noxus was waiting for her by the door.

Walking out of the bedroom, the lights seemed to blaze brighter than they had before. Reaching the staircase, Aurelias, breath hitched as she took in the scene ahead of her.

The basilisks were all standing in a semi-circle at the bottom of the stairs, looking up at her. As they gasped, Noxus turned to look up at her, smiling. He wore a black suit with a white button-up underneath and had left the top two buttons undone. A gold chain hung around his neck and his clean-shaven face seemed to highlight his jawline. His dark hair was waxed back in a professional look.

He was being her prince. This was her fairytale.

She smiled back and him as she walked down the stairs to her serpent prince.

Once she reached the bottom of the stairs, he pulled a small chain from his pocket. Moving it into her view, she could see a gold chain with a diamond cut into the shape of a diamond.

“May I?” Noxus asked.

“You may,” Aurelia said as she started to lift the hair off of the back of her neck.

Moving behind her, he snigged her hair and planted small kisses on the skin behind her ear.

Placing the necklace around her neck, he said, “This was my mother’s.”

Aurelia felt her love for him ignite in her chest. He had done this all for her to make her feel special. He was giving her a part of his life. He was everything she ever hoped a man could be plus more.

He held out a bent arm for her to take, just as they do in the movies. “I know how much you love your Disney movies,” he said with a wink.

Walking around the castle, Aurelia found the old garden renewed. Fairy lights had been strung and new flowers flourished around the stepping stones on the ground. In the middle of it all was a table with food already placed on it and a bottle of wine.

They laughed and chatted throughout the night. Falling more in love with each other, but neither quite sure how to express it.

“I am going to go into the human realm tomorrow to get your sister,” Noxus said after clearing his throat. “The court needs to know of your pregnancy, but it wouldn’t be fair if the person closest to you, didn’t know first.”

Aurelia stared at him with a mix of shock and thankfulness.

“I need a way to prove to her that you are really here,” Noxus added.

She pondered his words for a moment before saying, “Tell her that I told you about the Wilmers.”

“But you haven’t?” He furrowed his brows.

Unable to figure out the correct way to tell him, she just started letting the words spew from her mouth. “I was eight and Bryn was ten when we went to live with them. They would lock us in the basement, and we were forced to go to the bathroom in buckets. Our only food was rice and a nasty-tasting shake that they forced us to drink each morning. The man of the house, his name escapes me, did horrible things to us, short of taking our virginities. He died after we had been there for a couple of months, and we were brought back to the orphanage. We had never told anyone about the torture.”

Noxus felt the anger rise within him with each part of the story she told. Clenching his fists he watched her tell the story. After she was finished he placed a hand on hers.

With pain in his eyes and heart, he said, “He’s lucky he’s already dead.”

He leaned over the table and his lips engulfed hers in a kiss.
