“Hello, welcome, welcome, one and all!”
A figure stood in the center of a wooden stage floating in a featureless void. Dressed in a colorful, red and black striped dove tailed coat with a matching hat and black cane, pristine white gloves adorning their hands, and where their face would be instead radiated a blinding light.
“Welcome to the Gods’ Great Game, hosted by yours truly. I am the Curator, and I will be your host for these activities.”
The Curator gesticulated with his hands, swinging the cane around to address the unseen audience.
“Every single participant here will have the chance to be a part of the game themselves. While everyone is free to observe the world as they choose and take part in any and all votes, to actually interact with our more mortal participants and to streamline the process I have devised a system to assist our more fragile participants in withstanding our presence.”
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
Blue boxes flicker to life surrounding the figure. Empty at first, strange symbols in every language ever recorded and many that never were flash across the 2-dimensional boxes flashing around them.
“To affect the setting of our story, one must simply expend their points to make purchases from the shop. There, you can find a variety of effects, such as choosing champions to carry out your will on the mortal plane, granting classes, artifacts, items, and many other such features.”
As they talked, images formed out of the symbols on the screens, a flaming fist, a sword, a bottle, before the boxes returned to their original blank faces.
“For those who would like to join the game, please, come and integrate yourself into the system. This is a necessary step in acquiring and spending points. For those who just wish to watch and influence the story through your votes you are free not to join and instead take in the story at your leisure. I’ll endeavor to make it enjoyable for you all as well! Everyone is free to enjoy the festivities, whether you take part in them is of course your own choice!
After joining, you will be given ten points to spend right away, and five more each chapter after providing visual confirmation of your comment on the latest chapter. Finally, you must decide which, if any, of the pantheons you would like to join! Pantheons are groups of gods who band together in order to further their goals and create allies for their champions.
Now without further ado!”
