Chapter 22 - Mortal King Grim Blade

Chapter 22: Mortal King Grim Blade

An elder from the Tyrell clan entered the colosseum. He was in charge of introducing the participants.

Blacky watched as the contestants stood in the arena after the elder gave them a short introduction. He calmly waited for his turn. While these contestants were impressive to these villagers, they didn’t interest him. Blacky found that they lacked heavily compared to sect disciples.

There were twenty two contestants at the level four spiritual warrior stage. Eight were level five spiritual warriors.

The elder spoke out loud, his voice echoing throughout the colosseum. “Next we have quite the famous contestant. He is a rank six spiritual warrior.”

A brown haired youth walked out of the colosseum gates. He did strange arm movements. When he entered the arena, people from the crowd erupted in cheers.

“This is Logan Penguin. He is nineteen years old, a rank six spiritual warrior from Penguin City!” As the elder introduced the man, countless young kids under the age of ten began to cheer.

“Why is this guy so famous?” Blacky wondered why so many children loved this man, he asked Raven.

Raven knew who Logan was, however he had no good thoughts about him. “He is famous due to his music. He raps about nonsense.”

Another rank six spiritual warrior was introduced. Jules then stated that it was Draught’s turn.

Draught appeared in the arena, still wearing a mask.

“Here we have Draught, sixteen years old level six spiritual warrior, from an unknown background.” The elder gave a brief explanation.

Blacky’s turn was next. He stood up and walked through the dark hallways which were lit up by torches.

He arrived at the arena wearing his black scarf and gloves. Some people in the crowd began to murmur once they saw his appearance.

The elder’s voice was especially loud when he introduced Blacky.

“This is Blacky, the only contestant from our Tifili Village. He is a level six spiritual warrior, the youngest contestant at the age of fifteen!” It seemed as if the elder had a bias for Blacky, the reason being that he was a member of their village.

The crowd began to cheer madly for Blacky. Three months ago Blacky’s name spread throughout the village after he killed two guards. No one could believe that he was actually a genius.

“I once helped Blacky steal a chicken! Hooray for Blacky!” A poor looking old man yelled out proudly, attracting attention from people in the crowd.

Blacky was overwhelmed by the crowd’s enthusiastic response. He smiled and waved at the crowd. In stone village he got disgraced, however in his village he was quite popular. Even if it was just cause of his strength, he was happy with it.

Blacky also attracted some fearful and annoyed looks from the other contestants. He simply ignored them and stood near Draught.

“Next we have an important guest from the Denus Empire! He is one of the two late stage spiritual warriors.” The elderly man introduced the second last contestant.

A handsome blond man walked out dressed in royal robes. He had the demeanour of a noble. The youth stood in front of all of the other contestants, appearing slightly arrogant.

“Blueale Denus, he is seventeen years old, a level seven spiritual warrior.” The crowd erupted in cheers for Blueale, his background and strength caused many to respect him. The younger women were especially fond of his looks.

Blacky looked at Blueale with some disdain. While he was decent, he wasn’t anything special. Compared to Cool Breeze he was nothing.

A moment later a bulky looking man walked out of the entrance. He held on to a huge battle axe, looking at Blueale with a smirk on his face.

“Finally we have Hound Blight, his master is a mortal king! He comes from the Extera Clan. He is sixteen years old, rank seven spiritual warrior!”

Blacky glanced at Hound Blight with the corner of his eyes. This sixteen year old seemed like a gorilla, he was at least two hundred centimetres tall, even taller than most adults.

Blacky licked his lips, this man was his contract, given by White Devil. If he could kill Hound Blight, he would gain a mortal king master! In the future he could have the chance to become a mortal king!

Hound Blight didn’t know of Blacky’s thoughts. He walked up to Blueale with a smirk on his face.

“Pfft, What a joke. I expected more from the Denus Empire.” Hound Blight spoke in a deep voice.

Blueale snorted in reply. “Oh. Your Extera Clan actually dares show their face in public?”

Hound Blight angrily shouted out. “We’ll see how long your Denus Clan can stay on top!”

“Haha, what feisty youths.”

Sting Tyrell interrupted the conversation from above. “Now, all the contestants are gathered here. I shall announce the reward for first place.” Sting paused for a moment. “Thanks to the Denus Empire, we’ll be giving fifty low grade elemental stones to the victor!”

Many people couldn’t help being surprised. This was not something their small Tyrell clan could simply pull out. It seemed that the Denus Empire had some type of deal with the Tyrell Clan.

“Now that all the contestants have been introduced, we shall begin the tournament. All contestants may return to their waiting rooms. The first match will be Blacky versus Temonti.” Sting shouted out.

Temonti was a level four spiritual warrior. He was one of the weakest people in the tournament. When he heard that his opponent was the famous Blacky, he felt some pressure. However he didn’t surrender, after all his life was not in danger.

Sting wanted Blacky to start off the tournament. Since Blacky was from Tifili Village he wanted him to have a good performance.

Blacky didn’t mind that he was first. All that mattered was that he defeated his opponent in a clean manner. This was to impress White Devil. As for the village chief Sting, and the others, he didn’t care about them.

Blacky and Temonti remained inside of the arena as all the others left. The elder from the Tyrell Clan stood in the arena near the two.

Blacky smiled slightly as he looked at Temonti standing around ten meters away from him. “Good luck.”

Temonti had a sword in his hand. He appeared extremely focused, not replying to Blacky.

“Begin!” The elder announced the start of the match.

Blacky instantly used the infinite glide technique, his right hand reached out at the same time.

Before Temonti could even react he felt a hand on his throat.

“You lost.” Blacky stood in front of Temonti with a ridiculing smile on his face.

The spectators all watched with amazement. Those that weren’t above the sixth spiritual warrior stage couldn’t see Blacky movements. All they saw was a trail of dust which was left behind.

Even Blue Devil was surprised when he saw Blacky’s movements. With his eyes he clearly saw that Blacky used the infinite glide technique.

“Complete mastery of the first stage of the infinite glide technique. Not bad.” White Devil stated.

Blue Devil chucked. “It seems he’s not bad. I’m afraid Draught can’t beat him. What a shame.. How about I take him as a disciple instead?”

White Devil ignored Blue Devil. His interest in Blacky grew.

“Blacky from Tifili Village is the victor!” The elder was slow to react.

“Blacky! Blacky! Blacky!” The crowd erupted in cheers.

In another room of the colosseum Hound Blight sat next to a middle aged looking man.

This man was Hound Blight’s master. He had a nasty scar on his face. His eyes radiated dense killing intent as he looked at Blacky through the recording box.

“This brat is from the bounty hunters association. That technique is called infinite glide.” Hound Blight’s master spoke with clear anger.

Hound Blight heard that his master got his scar from White Devil.

“Master Grim Blade don’t worry. This disciple will teach that Blacky a lesson in your behalf.” Hound Blight said confidentially.

Grim Blade’s scar twitched as he replied. “White Devil seems to have only brought along this brat. He must be confident in him, you must not underestimate him.”

Hound Blight replied with a playful smile. “Master, I’ve already formed an elemental rune in my spiritual world. I doubt this Blacky can be a real treat to me. He’s probably weaker than Blueale.”

Grim Blade shook his head. “No, with his speed Blueale will stand no chance. Your advantage is that you’ve formed an elemental rune. In this tournament you have to be careful of this brat.”

While Hound Blight didn’t totally agree with Grim Blade, he still nodded his head.
