Chapter 13 - Departure - Day 3 (P2) - I'll Wait For You

- 5th day of Hanotë

Part 2 - I’ll Wait for You

Kahor hugged his naked body against hers and did her best to hold her tears as she caressed the soft, black hair covering her bare chest. She laid there, watching him sleep, committing every detail of his relaxed face to her memory, wishing they could stay in that room forever, forgotten by the world outside. And yet she knew better than that.

Finally she gathered all her courage and strength and put on a smile on her lips as she woke him up.

His eyes were on her as soon as they opened and then he moved lazily to kiss her, making her laugh at the dreamy way he looked at her.

“I’m not going …” he whispered, immediately murdering her smile.

“Kai …”

“You can’t just tell me to go like nothing has happened …”

“We’ve already talked about this.”

“I want to stay with you …”

She averted her gaze to hide her tears from him and frowned angrily at her own weakness.

“Please, don’t make this any harder than it is … We both know that, in the end, you’ll do what must be done. And I love you for that! And last night … last night didn’t exist to tie you down. I just ask you don’t forget me … like I know I won’t forget you.” she told him and he kissed her face, and her neck, and her ear, making her sigh.

“I’ll never forget you … Not in a hundred years,” she hugged him and kissed him, and smiled when he pulled back to look down at her. “Just promise me you won’t be here when they attack.”

“I promise.” He smiled gently, looking relieved, and kissed the tip of her nose.

“And wait for me. I’ll be back!”

“And what else is there for me? I know you’ll finish your mission in no time at all. I’ll wait for you in Leips,” he nodded, agreeing, and she smiled at him. “And now go. It’s late, already. They’re probably looking for you by now.”

Kai obeyed getting dressed as she put on her night gown, and then he kissed her one last time.

“Take care and no crazy stunts while I’m gone!”

“When we meet again I’ll be able to walk normally again, you’ll see.”

He caressed her hair hesitating for a bit longer, and then stood up, walking out the door without looking back.
