Chapter 12 - The Wait (P7)

Part 7 - Beyond Salvation

Allana stood before the door to her room and just couldn’t bring herself to open it, the memories from last night’s nightmare still too present. Instead she invaded the room next door and, smiling maliciously, pulled the curtains open and jumped onto the bed. Protests filled the air when she mercilessly uncovered its occupant.

“Good Morning!” she said in a high tone and Selina turned the other way, frowning.

“No …”

“Yes, yes! Wake up, sleepy head!

“You’re insane! Let me sleep!”

“Oh, I see … Busy night, eh?” she asked playfully, recalling she had last seen her in a common room surrounded by her new admirers, and the girl opened her eyes immediately, turning to face her with a mischievously smile.

“Not as busy as yours,” she answered. “How was His Highness?” Completely caught off guard, Allana blushed profusely and couldn’t help avert her gaze.

“What are you talking about?”

“Oh, I think you know very well what I’m talking about!”

“Were you spying on me again??” she accused, throwing a pillow at her that Selina easily avoided, and the other girl laughed happily.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

“And then?” she finally asked, sitting amongst the bed covers, and Allana crossed her arms, defensively.

“Then what?”

“Were you with him till now?”

“I’m not talking to you! Spy!” she retorted and Selina dragged herself to her side.

“Oh, come on! Tell me! Were you?” she insisted and Allana finally nodded, her cheeks burning, even more when Selina laughed again. “And then? What else! Tell me! You know I hate suspense!”

“I don’t know …”

“What do you mean you don’t know? What happened?”

“Hum … we talked.”

“Talked, eh? What else?”

“What else?!” she demanded in indignation. “Nothing else, of course!”

“Tche …” Selina sighed, looking disappointed, while Allana felt her cheeks burn at the memory of the long kisses they had shared. “You shouldn’t let the opportunity pass.”

“Opportunity … Selina! Don’t know if you’ve noticed, but you’re talking about my cousin!”

“So what? He’s kind of cute …” Allana sighed in deep exasperation.

“You know … sometimes he kind of scares me. It’s like he knows what I’m thinking or feeling. Like he’s inside my head. I know it sounds weird …” she confessed and Selina shook her head with an all knowing expression.

“I see. You’re beyond salvation.”

“What?”

“No salvation at all, if things are already like that,” she insisted.

“What are you talking about?”

“I mean that you’re in love with him.”

Allana sat there, for a moment, completely dumbstruck, and ended up taking a deep breath standing up.

“I should have known that it’s no use talking to you.”

“You may not have noticed it yet, but I’m telling you. You’re beyond salvation.”

“Yes, yes, because you’re some kind of prophet now, or something like that. Anyway, I just stopped by to steal a dress from your wardrobe,” she told her opening the closet and Selina looked at her curiously.

“A dress?! Don’t you have enough of those in your room?”

“I do. But I don’t want to have to go in there just yet. And afterwords we have the whole day all to ourselves. There’s going to be a Council, and Heric and Dana will have to attend.”

Selina clapped enthusiastically and finally jumped out of bed.
