“Ahhhhhhh!” I screamed talking animals. I jumped out of bed and ran to the door and tried to open the door but I was too freaked out for my hands to work I kept fumbling. All the while I kept hearing my name being called.

“David” one annoying voice said, reminds me of mikey from teenage mutant ninja turtles.

“David” said another voice, this one quite, like whoever’s voice it is isn’t used to talking.

“David” said the third in a high girlish voice.

My door opened and my mom came in and slapped me across the face. I was shocked! How was my mom here? She was supposed to be in Japan on a trip!

“David!” Mom yelled with a stern face “SHUT UP!” her face loosened “You might wake the neighbors.” she paused “Odin, Rose, Alex, go and play in the livingroom, and Alex, don’t poop”

A chorus of “Ok Nabalungi” and a sole grumble of “One time it was one time, and it wasn’t even THAT messy”

“It was that messy!” Mom yelled at Alex. Wait, at Alex, but Alex is a dog and she understood a dog. Does that mean....

“I see the gears turning in your head. The answer is yes I can understand dogs, and cats, and birds, and fish, and frogs, and about 100 other species of animals.”

“How?” I asked utterly befuddled

“It’s a family bloodline skill.” She replied like it was so natural “I am surprised though that you unlocked your abilities so soon.” she said to herself “It might be due to you being a pureblood of our skill. Thank Gia, Gia told me that you unlocked your power tonight. Though teleporting around the world cut my mana supply by about 1/10th. Anyway you are probably very confused allow me to explain. Since humans inhabited the planet Gia has given certain humans ability to make life more interesting. Our families ability is the power to harness the powers of the animals. Because we require animals to use our abilities we basically became the protectors of animals and our sister clan became the protectors of plants. There are many kinds of skills Gia has given to the people of the world some can be beneficial for all of humanity, and some can possibly destroy humanity.”

That was a lot to take in. Okay lets break this down. seriously only 1/10th of her mana for such a long distance. I probably gained the ability sooner due to Gia making me savior of the planet. So there are more people with abilities. AHHHH this is driving me crazy what did I do to get in this position. Ok lets think back Gia said I was her champion and I asked for the powers of The Gamer, does that mean that I can check my stats?

“Wow, this is cool! Wait do I have one of those things? What did you say Status? Hmm nothing showed up.”

“I well I did get the ability The Gamer so that might be it.”

“Why do you think that?” she asked confused.

“Well i got a notification saying that ‘Because of your wise insight Wisdom +1’ so that

probably means I’m right.”

“How did you get this Gamer ability?”

“Gia gave it to me” I said obviously

“WHAT!” my mom yelled “GIA GAVE YOU AN ABILITY!”

“umm yeah…. didn’t you notice my Status window said Gia’s Champion?”

“Wait what did Gia say when she gave you these powers!” she demanded

I proceeded to tell my mom about the dream I had and what Gia said was coming.

After I finished speaking my mom went into deep thought. Then she looked up and said “If Gia says you are her champion, and she gave you these abilities that means that you must train to be able to take on the invasion. This should be easy because earlier when you made a wise insight you gained a stat point, which from what I know about games reflects your character’s or in this case your abilities.”

“Cool lets do it!” I exclaimed!

“Ok, this isn’t going to be easy, I’m going to have to call in a few favors and call your father to come back to help train you. He can’t teleport and is on a job so I’m going to train you for a month in our bloodline skills then you can go and get practical training in our Training grounds.”
