Hmm? What is this? It feels so warm…and its like I’m floating in something. I have a body? Wasn’t I dead? But I can clearly feel my body. Was I reborn? I try to move but I can only twitch and even then it makes me unbearably tired. So tired….I think I’ll sleep now…..
After I slept for a long time I woke up again and this time I felt much stronger. I was able to move a bit more before I tired out. Then as the exhaustion swept over me once I fell asleep.
This time it was a shorter period that I fell asleep. When this time around I was even stronger than before, I was able to move more. Thats when I noticed something strange.
My body felt different?
I-it felt like I had wings and c-claws for feet!?
Na wai!
Its that type of reincarnation story!?
Dammit god couldn’t you have given me a little break and start out with hands!
(Author-san: No.)
Oh no! Now I’m gonna have to live through constant life and death situations right from when I’m born right? I’ll probably have to eat my siblings because its survival of the fittest huh? A-and then I’ll have to hunt some scary monsters and get into fights where they probably slice me open or try rip me apart! I would have to get stronger and evolve by having to challenge and eat those stronger then me while hanging on to life by a thread while my limbs and blood go flying right?
This is dangerous!!!
As I was fretting about this I noticed something.
Wait but I feel my mouth and nose? No beak? I moved forward to check where I am. Then I bumped into a hard, round wall. I felt around and confirmed what I new.
I was in definitely in an egg.
Sadly it seems I couldn’t do anymore today. I seemed to have used up too much energy…I can feel sleep coming over me again. I guess I must wait till next time to explore…..
This time when I woke up my mind felt much more clear than all the others. However what came immediately as I woke up was overwhelming instinctive urge. The urge to move! The urge to break!
I kicked out with my legs. It hit the sides causing the egg to rock slightly.
I kicked once more.
*rock*
Kick, kick!
*rock, rock*
Kick, kick, kick!
*rock, rock, rock!*
Kick, KICK.
*Crack*
KICK! KICK!
*Crack, crack!*
*cling*
Ah I got a part off.
I started banging my full body weight into it and the egg shell pieces started to split off one by one. Then finally, I could feel the cool air come in through the hole I had. I shivered as it struck my skin. I crawled forward and flopped out of the egg. I was exhausted by the energy I had expended during my hatching.
I didn’t even notice there were others around me until there was loud voices and I could feel myself being lifted up. I struggled weakly but just gave up. I could feel a warm, wet towel being pressed against me and it was wiping off all the goo from the egg. I struggled to open my eyes and finally I succeeded….
GYAAAAAH!!!!
The Light!
I’m going blind!
I’m meeeeltiiiiiingggg…..
………………
……..
Ha, just kidding.
Not about the blind part though. The light was too much for my poor newborn eyes who had not seen light till this moment and I was blinded and had to shut my eyes. After waiting a bit I tentatively opened them again and to my relief it didn’t feel like someone was digging needles into my eyes. I looked up at the sound of soft cooing. I widened my eyes in shock at what I saw.
A beautiful woman in her early twenties with long reddish-brown hair and blue eyes was smiling down lovingly at me as she slowly rocked me. She had a refined yet gentle air about her with a elegant and doll like face. Pure white, soft looking skin and small, pink lips with a light blush adorning her soft cheeks. She had adorable looking droopy eyes and a beauty mark on the corner of her right eye further adding to the elegance that she seemed to exude. A truly beautiful women that would probably beat the models from my previous life. Heck, even I can’t help but praise this woman's beauty.
Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit.
However that wasn’t what had shocked me (well, maybe a little). It was the reddish-brown feathers that grew from her neck downy to her shoulders, and from what it looks like it extends down her arms as well.
Well, that settles it.
I’m a bird-human!
That actually makes sense though.
Thinking of this new revelation, the bird-woman, who I assume is my my mother looked over at the sound of another deeper voice. She smiled a blinding smile full of affection. I craned my neck to catch a glimpse of the new figure. I saw a tall and broad, handsome man who looked to be in his late twenties to early thirties. He seemed to tower over us as he gazed down at me. He scars across his muscular arms and one running down the left of his cheek but that didn’t detract from his handsomeness. Instead it gave him a dangerous air along with his rugged face. He had a classical strong square jaw and sculpted face. A long aristocratic nose and sharp, fierce golden eyes.
I guess he’s my father?
I think?
I mean he seems to have lion ears atop his head and his head full of golden-brown hair seemed to have look reminiscent of a lions mane. If that isn’t enough then he has a long lions tail that seems to be swinging to and fro with happiness judging by the silly grin (he has fangs too!) plastered across his face.
Hmm, so does this mean that I’m a half breed?
Wait a second.
If this is one of those other worlds with magic and stuff isn’t it usually a plot line that half-breeds aren’t liked by anyone at all and hunted down or discriminated against!
Shit, though I don’t have have death flags from the get-go but my life’s a struggle from a giant death flag!
You damn god why must you torment me so!
(Author-san: Because its funny)
Turning to my mother, he seemed to be saying something but I could not understand a word of it. However my mother seemed to not be paying attention as she now stared down at me with a slightly shocked look. Father frowned a bit and I assume preceded to ask her what was wrong. Still a bit shocked she pointed at me and turned to speak to my father. Then father(?) turned to look at me with the same shocked look.
Eh…?
Is something wrong with me!?
Dammit, I wish I could understand what they’re saying!
Alright I need to calm down so I can make sense of things.
……Take a deep breath and calm down now Isabel…..
Its mentally exhausting if I keep reacting over every little thing.
I heard shrieking and shouting just then and then the door where father had walked through banged open. Two golden blurs rushed in and proceeded to jump onto mothers leg and pull at her dress. Smilingly at them she crouched down to let the two new arrivals get a look at me.
I stared at the two children who seem to be my siblings. One was a adorable little boy of about 8 years old with messy golden hair and eyes. He had lion ears and tail of our father. He had soft, squishy looking cheeks you just wanted to pinch and big, wide eyes full of sparkles that stared at me with wonder. He had the same gentle, yet refined air of mother if a 8 year old could even have that.
The other was a just as adorable little girl of about five years old with long, straight golden hair that reached her waist and bright blue eyes full of happiness and excitement. She had mothers beauty but fathers sharp eyes, and fierce aura. This girl was currently squealing in happiness while looking at me with the same sparkles in her eyes as the little boy. I couldn’t help but giggle at their cute reactions.
That simply caused everyone to crack a grin so wide that people would be afraid their faces would split. Well, I guess I must be pretty cute too since this family seems to blessed with such good genes.
Oh, I just can’t wait till I grow up then.
Muwahahahaha just you wait world!
I shall wreck havoc!
I hope I have my mothers looks though…
Sorry, father your just a bit scary ya know…..
Oh, I’m a bit tired again….
I’ll go back to sleep….
