Chapter Five

We’ll start at first.

I’m from Shadingon, you mustn't know it, it’s a little village in south Aribandon. Shadingon is small, poor and falls behind. I was born in a poor family, can you imagine that? A poor family in a poor village. I can’t even get food every day. What’s more, I have six brothers and five sisters. But they all died in the battle of Gungstery.

My mother was called Ivonyulh, and she was quite rich and my grandmother was a nobility of Aribandon. Ha! Do you believe that? Well I don’t, I knew it when I was 18. And that it was when I ran off from……never mind that, ah. So, my father was poor, my mother married him because of love. LOVE! She became very poor, because my father gambled. He was deeply in debt through gambling losses, he owned a lot of money from gangland. A LOT! He begged my mother to give him money, she was disappointed, shocked, and grief-stricken. But she still gave him what he wanted, money, diamonds, even took him to a nobility's party exca trial. He couldn’t lose all the money on gambling, could he? One night, he went to a luxury party with my mother. He met a Mahanish count, whose daughter married my grandmother’s cousin’s son’s daughter’s friend’s son. He gambled with that count, which I don’t know what he gambled. But anyway, he lost. He lost all my mother’s fortune. How stupid was he! Glambled with a count and then a crushing defeat. Ivonyulh asked her mother to give her some money.

‘One last time, mother, please! Don’t you love me?’

‘Ivonyulh, you’re my daughter, of course I love you, but not in that case.’

‘Please, I beg you. Do you want to see me eat only dust and drink dirty water every meal?’

‘Nope. If you want to.’

‘No, I don’t!’

‘Well then……you have two options. One is divorced from that stupid Varl, come with me back into luxurious life. And the other is to stay with Varl, and we will never meet again. Which means, you will really have to eat only dust and drink dirty water every day if you choose option two. Don’t think I am cruel, I already gave you a lot of money, because I thought you would have a clear mind. But you didn’t. Ah. Choose now!’

‘Mother!’

‘3…2…’

‘Fine! Um! I-I chose option two.’

She didn’t ask her ‘are you sure’ but ‘very well, goodbye then.’

‘Bye……’

Then she walked away.

‘Mother, you must understand me! I love Varl very much, and I don’t want to leave him alone. I am sure he will change. Just give him a second chance!’

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

‘I am sorry Ivonyulh.’

So that’s it. Done. Gone. With all her hope. She thought she would change her mind. But she was wrong, my grandmother never helped her since, so that makes me never have a chance to meet her.

Then, you know. I was born, I didn’t have a great childhood, and my brother always bullied me. They rubbed hot oil on my head, laughed at me for no friend, but my parents never cared, sometimes they even forgot my name. I didn’t even talk much with my sister and my parents. I had enough with my destiny! So I ran away from that horrible family on my birthday. Why that day? It would only hurt my heart if I stayed there. It was a hard decision, but it was also the only decision that could make my life easier, make me feel refreshed. I promised never to come back again, and I did. I had never come back to that village.

( 2 )

I told you the village where I lived was small, but it actually a lot smaller than I would ever think. Not a minute, I could see I had run away from it far away. I was released. Where should I go? I went to another village that is quite far away from there. Eh…….sorry, I forgot the name. Anyway, I changed my name, my story, my background. I used to be called Suiogan, that’s a strange name, isn’t it? I changed my name to Merle, just like a normal person from a farmer.

I found a job in a local hotel. After a while, I felt I needed to find a target for my life. So I went to……um……it’s such a shame to say……. I went to The Witchesese’s Housesese’s. I-I didn’t know it, I went there because I saw-saw the leaflets in the toilet. It said:

NO target in your LIFE? Come to The Witchesese’s Housesese’s. WE will offer HELP; ANY wish, any want.

‘Life is SHORT, important at TRY’

Location: Left side of Donklang Street. At Jet Fonseses’. Top floor.

Fee: 50 Anbandu.

What are you WAITING for? We are WAITING for you!

It is what I want. And it’s only 50 Anbandu per wish, we all know witches have the power to change the world. I went there, and they told me there is a consequence. I didn’t see there would be a consequence on the leaflet, they said it’s because my wish is…….too……um, how to say that word……EXPENSIVE. Too……big, too……impossible. The witches at The Witchesese’s Housesese’s can’t talk, they wrote to me:

‘Monbalasa ku, ki do han noi, jet do han noi gon ta la monbalaku. Des, jet han faoyit ki monbalaku. Hahui, ki bhwg ela jatqgu vrh ela Mohani. Fonany, ki han ki do monbalaku.’

Do you know what it means? It means:

‘Your wish, can’t be done. I can’t do it.But I can do it at some point. However, you need power from a Mahanish. Finally, you can complete your wish.’

Allowing my translation is bad, but it’s the meaning of it. I need power from a Mahanish, a witch. But how? So I sent her back:

‘Han do?’

‘Wellas ela Mohani, kunfle u gon jee.’

‘Han do wellas ela Mohani?’

‘Kunfle dua jeo connaflahp. U shooll kunple ku do dua jophen Mohani.’

‘Banvra!’

Translates:

‘How?’

‘Find a Mahanish, take it to me.’

‘How to find a Mahanish?’

‘Take my wand. It shall lead you to the right Mahanish.’

‘Thanks!’

And you know what, Livia? You are the right Mahanish.
