"Mystery creates wonder and wonder is the basis of man's desire to understand." - Neil Armstrong
"Alright, next in line please come up."
It was Zac's turn next, unlike the ones before him, Zac did not share their expression of nervousness. He didn't think there is ever a need to worry about things such as these. There just simply isn't a point in it. What is the point of needlessly worrying? Would worrying be able to change the final result? If worrying does nothing, then you might as well use that energy elsewhere.
"Please sit here" Burning torches in iron sconces line the walls of this room, lighting it brilliantly. At the room's center lies a squat stone altar, its top covered in recently spilled blood. A channel in the altar funnels the blood down its side to the floor where it fills grooves in the floor that trace some kind of pattern or symbols around the altar. There were 80 different symbols there. They each resembled nothing yet everything at the same time. Together they form a nearly perfect circle, yet it was missing something for it to completely wrap around the altar. And beside it, a chair is situated beside the altar covered with weathered scars.
"We will first determine the type of ability you have or the type you will have in the future." The man said as he washed the blade he was holding in his hand.
"There are many types of abilities a person can have, the most common ones include, elemental power, powers that change the way one thing interacts with another, powers that change your body. There are too many different kind of different abilities many still left undocumented"
Standing 5' 10" tall, this man has a secretive feel about him. He has a round face with a square jaw, a hooked nose, small ears and angled lips. His brown eyes are hooded, and he has thick eyebrows. He has shoulder-length, shiny, deep brunette hair which is elaborately styled. He has broad shoulders, toned arms, a broad torso, and strong legs. He usually wears perfectly pressed, garish clothes that are mostly white colored.
"Of course, some just have power to gain strength and speed conditionally. Whichever one you get will of course show you your future prospects. But every single one will help humanity's cause."
There have been cases where people were able to change the type of abilities they had, but those rarely happen to anyone. Usually your abilities are defined from both whom your parents were, and the conditions you are in. Sometimes emotions will affect what abilities you were born with as well.
"Please use this blade to put a drop of your blood onto the altar."
Zac did as he asked, cutting a fine line with the knife in his hand. He leads his finger over the altar. One single drop hit as the channels grew red. It was as though the blood was multiplying. Symbols lit up one after another, as the blood flowed through the grooves. The symbols were all lit up. After which one by another they started to dim. Only leaving three symbols still lit up.
"Alright I will tell you what those symbols mean, the symbol on the middle left means strength augmentation, this essentially means that your ability could either strengthen yourself or it could strengthen techno-augmentations. The second one on the right of that means that you also have the agility augmentation. Which basically is the strength augmentation but for agility."
Zac had heard about these terms before, he had seen that most people in the army would have one or more of these augmentation, however they are by no means uncommon, as most people would have at least one way of strengthening their body. Some elementalists are able to utilize their respective ability to strengthen their attributes. Such as wind ability users can speed themselves up by using wind to push their feet or divert wind to have less air resistance when traveling.
"The third symbol however... it rarely appears, well let me tell you what, it usually appears on abilities that could change laws around us, such as changing gravity."
"Well I must say congrats, I must say that you are at least 1 in 10 to have that symbol."

Zac thought for a second, and asked," I understand what each of these symbols mean, but what do they mean together?"
The man smiled mysteriously
"That is something for you to find out, most people aren't able to tell what their abilities pertain to until much later. Some people who thought they had their ability figured out when they were tested were forced to rethink it after their ability actually awakened."
The man came closer, took away the blade as he said, "Please go back outside." After which he yelled, "Alright, next in line please come up."
Perhaps he was distracted by his conversation, or perhaps he never even expected that it could happen. But on the altar, there sits one more symbol dimly lit. The 81st symbol.
