IX: Lindsey

Iris has been disconnected all day. What has she been thinking? I keep looking at her fifth life.

I want it so badly. But she's my best friend I could never. I need to distract myself.

“We are running low on supplies. I'm going to get some more.” Iris nods while sitting down curled up with her knees to her chin and her arms wrapping around her legs. Like she's been doing all day.

We aren't really running out of supplies but I am running out of lives. Three isn't enough.

I've been walking in the forest for a good half an hour and there has been no sign of anyone. Until I see a woman hunting in the forest.

Yeah, she's like twice my size but I could totally take her down. I crouch down and walk until I'm hiding behind the tree next to her.

Time to strike.

I take my makeshift dagger and go straight for her back. But before I know it she turns around and stabs me in the stomach. Like she knew I was there. I look down at my stomach and blood pours out. I'm in insufferable pain.

And then it turns black, that's all I see.

Then I see the forest again. The girl is out of sight. It all happened so quickly she stabbed me I died I came back and she's gone. I'm so confused. I look down at my chest, my wound is healed and my lives is down to two.

“NO!” I yelp. “This can't be happening.” I can't go back to Iris. She'll think I'm weak, losing a life.

I need to regain it. No matter the cost.
