With so little reference to DN, I think I'll just remove it totally. Sorry for those who read this for the DN elements (Is there even any?)
Originally, the story was supposed to be highly based on DN, but due to various factors, I removed them over time, and now, there is barely any left. Hence, I made such a decision.
As such, I will fix the arc 0, and interlude chapters. Also, I plan to revamp the whole arc 0, at some point.
Assignments and tests next week. No worries for those who are following though, I will still release a chapter once per two days.
Have fun reading, the boring part is finally over (and will start after a few chapters, again)
I woke up to see Senpai in our room.
“Kur-kfu!!??” Senpai quickly covered my mouth, but Nobody had already stirred from his slumber, slowly getting up.
And then he looked at us.
After a long period of silence, he finally spoke, “I didn’t see anything, you guys can continue.” He then laid down on his bed, facing the other side.
Senpai’s fist flew towards him instantly.
“So, you want to get a mission and go straight away, and that’s why you had Rigel to get you in here, right?” Nobody summed up what happened, and laid out the facts to Senpai, who nodded.
“Are you an idiot!?” He shouted suddenly. “Just get Rigel here instead of barging into our room!”
“Rigel told me that I should come myself since it’s a special occasion.” Senpai said. On a side note, she isn’t in her uniform at the moment, and instead had a plain white tank top with black, short shorts, and was sitting cross-legged on the floor. Compared to her usual, fierce look, she had a far more innocent face.
That’s when Rigel came out of our bath, with a white t-shirt and green trousers. “A sister going into a room and personally waking up his younger brother is something perfectly normal.”
I don’t really understand that terminology, but Nobody seemed as he was suddenly revealed a secret. “You are right! I have underestimated you! Please, take me as your student!” His face was full of shock, and then he bowed towards the laughing Rigel.
“Are we done? Can we go get a mission now?” Senpai asked, while cocking her head to the side. Rigel nodded, “Your uniform is inside, just take a bath here. Clint and Junior(Nobody is renamed!), you can use the bath in my room.” Rigel gestured me to follow him as Senpai took our bathroom.
After we cleaned up, we returned to our room, where Senpai was standing with a triumphant look. “Finally, you guys are back! Now let’s go!” She opened the window, and leapt out.
Senpai. I understand that you are a superhuman.
But this is the 4th floor.
She was fine though, when we rushed down. And she was annoyed that we were slow, but she brought us to the Adventurer’s guild’s hall.
Ashley was already there waiting when we reached the guild hall, even though she told us that she had just arrived. It seemed that Senpai had woke her up before coming to our dorm.
At the moment, the board was full of requests, but most of the mare simply F and E grade quests. Senpai, on the other hand, was looking at the A rank quests.
“Clint, you are good at killing monsters, right?”
“Hm? Yes?” I am, but I hadn’t been killing them for 3 months already. I was a little worried that my skills would be gone, but Senpai chose an A ranked quest anyways. It was to defeat a hellhound sighted in the academy forest. The exact location it was sighted was marked as well, so we could start investigating in that area.
Rigel was left to do that though. We are to follow him while killing all the mosnters we run into. Senpai was really excited to see me fight monsters, and quickly took the quest, registering us under the quest.
Since it was an A ranked quest, with Rigel and Senpai participating, we would get only a few guild points, since we seemed to be leeching, even so, it still yielded more points than gathering herbs.
We entered the forest wielding our weapons. I led the way with my sword and pistol, while Senpai had a sturdy longsword that was slightly blued, and Ashley had her staff, both of them slightly behind me. Nobody, on the other hand, had a diverse set of weapons. Compared to his first day, he now had a whole set of weapons, which we made in our engineering class. Even the ball toy was beautifully made, and he had brought it with him. He stood behind all of us with the ball rolling around him.
It didn’t take long for the first monster to jump out. It was a savage rabbit, a mutated, aggressive rabbit that attack with its claws. I easily dodged the attack, but I didn’t counter attack.
I didn’t kill it instantly though, I dodged a few of its attacks, and after recording the data, I fired a shot through it, killing it instantly.
Ashley was slightly dissatisfied by that, “The rabbit! You killed it!” She looked at me accusingly. I turned towards Senpai helplessly, but she shrugged, leaving Ashley’s anger to me.
“Sorry Ashley, but would be prefer for me to hurt the rabbit, or the rabbit to hurt me?”
She calmed down at the words, but still pouted. Luckily for me, she stopped complaining when I killed the rabbits after that. There were a few other monsters, and for the first of each of them, I would stall the battle for some time before killing them. Senpai was slightly annoyed by my slow pace, but I ignored her comments to hurry up, and continued gathering data.
It was when I confirmed that I had the data for each of the monsters in this part of the forest that I started the onslaught.
Time for the killing spree.
By memorizing how the monsters initiate their attacks, I could kill them before their first strike lands. This applies for most of the monsters, including the Savage Rabbit and the Raging Wolf. Both of these, as well as some others, would be instantly shot before they even reached me. For goblins, I couldn’t shoot them while dodging, so I would quickly dodge the initial strike, and shoot it before it could readjust themselves.

Given more time, I could even sense how they hide, and kill them before they even start their ambush, but we are in a hurry.
“I see that you aren’t lying about killing monsters.” Senpai said with a nod, “Good… Good… I don’t need to protect you guys after all.”
“With I, the awesome insignificant person with Clint? Of course you don’t need to protect us!” Nobody casually laughed behind us. Actually, he had done nothing at all while slacking around, not that there is much he could do.
That’s when Senpai unsheathed her sword, and answered, “There isn’t a single hellhound. There are 6 of them with a Cerberus leading them.”
Nobody and I whistled together at the words, while beads of cold sweat started forming on Ashley.
“Come on! Let’s do this!” Senpai shouted. It was a motivating shout, and Nobody cheered along with her. Ashley, on the other hand, meekly asked, “Could we go back…?” but they ignored her and walked deeper into the woods. I patted her shoulder before following them, while she followed us, almost crying.
“There they are.” Senpai said as she hid in the bush. We had met up with Rigel, and at the moment he was in the trees above them with his bow ready. We were standing away from the wind, where our scent wouldn’t reach them. As Rigel reported, there are 6 hellhounds, each at least a metre tall and two metres long. The ceberus was slightly larger, standing a whole half metres taller, and much wider, than the hellhounds. Not to mention the three heads with razor sharp teeth that will shred any enemy that goes too close.
There was also a weird distortion, a portal, on the other end of the clearing, but no one knows where it led to, or is it even a two-way portal.
The Cerberus alone would be an S ranked monster, and the whole group would be ranked SS rank. But I couldn’t help from being excited for the incoming battle, despite the actual rank difference.
On a side note, Senpai had a guild rank of SS, but her rank dropped to A due to a -2 in attitude, and she could, in her top condition, kill all of them. But she doesn’t have her armor on, which would provide her room for mistakes, as well as her best katana. She's still really good with the sword though.
We waited for the arrows that will signal the start of the battle. Ashley had multiple barrier spells ready, but she never used it against A and S ranked monsters, and was getting nervous by the second.
And then a hellhound fell, with multiple arrows appearing instantly and piercing through its head. The surviving hellhounds and Cerberus instantly turned to their direction and charged. The leading hound leaped high up, directly targeting the tree Rigel was on, but I stepped out at that exact moment, and fired a large shot at the hellhound. The ball of mana pierced into the hound, creating a wound that was bleeding profusely. Thanks to dad’s training, I had instinctively aimed for the heart. It didn’t exactly hit the heart, but it struck an artery. While it wasn’t a one shot kill, with the rate of bleeding, it is down for the count.
Not that there was someone free to count the time to his death.
As they turned towards their new enemy, namely me, Nobody stepped out, with the mace form of his transforming weapon activated. One of the daggers stabbed into the hellhound in front of him, causing it to flinch in pain, and he swung downwards, smashing the hell hound in the head. The hellhound fell down, stunned, but, not much damage was actually dealt. With the thick skin of the hellhound, the knife couldn’t do its maximum damage, and his swing dealt reduced damage.
He smiled though, and he swung again, and again, and again, as Ashley created barriers to cover him from another hellhound.
From the beginning of the battle, Senpai had rushed towards the Cerberus, fighting it alone. Even with a weaker sword, the Cerberus stood little chance, as her blindingly fast attacks destroyed the Cerberus slowly.
Another hellhound tried to attack Nobody from the side, but Ashley threw barrier after barrier to block it, after stalling for quite a bit, a wave of magical arrows suddenly appeared on its neck and it fell down, dead. Nobody was still fighting the wounded, but far from dead, hellhound. Using his free hand, he manipulated the sphere, which was on the ground, to spin its blades rapidly. Whenever the hellhound gets close, the sphere would fly forwards with the rotating blades to force it to retreat slightly, and then he would swing. Other times, Ashley would create a barrier to block hits, although each barrier could only take a single hit.
While looking, I dodged attacks from the final hellhound, while firing multiple shots. Now that they were fully aware of my weapon, it was much harder to land a fatal blow, and they would dodge most of the attacks easily.
Since it was like that, I settled for many small wounds to cause it to bleed out. Of course, it didn’t survive long enough for the attacks to even matter, with Rigel killing it with another wave arrow.
That is official kill stealing. I should report him.
Senpai was done as well. The Cerberus was beheaded three times, before finally dying. It seems that each brain could control the body, so even if one was killed, the others had no problems attacking full force.
Nobody and Ashley started cheering after the battle, the latter sighing with her mana drained, but it was Rigel who reminded all of us that life sucks.
“Congratulations on defeating the initial wave.” Rigel said while clapping, “But you guys should stop relaxing. The portal was still there, and THERE IS STILL ANOTHER MONSTER!”
