The fallen
CHAPTER 1 ; BEFORE LIFE THERE IS DEATH.
The sound of silence echoes across the town. A small girl who has not even turned fifteen stands on trial for execution. The townsfolk who seem to ignore the current events have a somewhat pleased look but do not utter a word. The executioner asks the girl if she has any last words with a peaceful smile nods her head and a sudden swing the girls head rolls off the podium they had been standing on.
A child with white hair that seemed to have a grayish tint to it wakes in a cabin he rubs his ruby red eyes seeming to still be tired but nonetheless awakens waddles past a table almost stumbling over a dropped wooden stool but that seems to have woken the child from his drowsiness looks around the cabin which only had a two stools a wooden table and chimney but even so the place was unnaturally clean the boy had taken note of this and thanked and verbally thanking her for cleaning he then began what had been a daily task for him.
First he would pick twigs and wood next on his list would be to go out to pick berries and plants
In preparation for his sister to come back and cook but this was no choir or pain for the boy he was happy to do it often gleaming while performing the tasks although he'd usually finish pretty late sometimes an old man would help but only rarely because the boy was only 7 he'd greatly appreciate it.
After he'd finished he made his way into the house where he'd usually wait for his sister but it
has already been hours and the sun had set “knock knock”a knock at the door had erased the sad expression on his face but when he opened the door instead of his sister he saw the old man even though the elder had not been the one he was expecting he was still happy to see him “may i come in xaos“ with a heartless almost dead expression the man asked xaos.
Xaos nodded in agreement. The elder looked at the ground and reluctantly walked in and sat at the table. Xaos offered him some of the berries he'd picked but the elder declined. The old man seemed to want to say something but “xaos have you eaten”.
“No”
The elder then stood and walked over to grab the fruits and vegetables and instructed xaos to start a fire “oo k” xaos replied excitedly when xaos left to retrieve the wood from outside the old man shed a single tear before grabbing a knife out of his pouch and cutting the produce by the time he had finished preparing the ingredients the fire had been light in chimney and the old man began cooking during the duration of the wait for the food xaaos had asked where his sister but the old man simply replied “i'll tell you after we eat “
An hour passed and the elder and xaos chatted the entire time and the old man's expression seemed to have lightened.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
“Oh it's ready , looks great” xaos said with a big smile the old man was less enthusiastic
As they sat down and began eating the man had told him what happened to his sister and left before xaos could react.
Xaos began crying refusing to believe the old man's words this crying went on for ours xaos couldn't even leave the cabin out of fear and so all alone he cried until he had slept when he woke from the floor he ran out of the cabin and run across the field and through the woods and to the town gates before he could enter he was stopped by a soldier
“Hey kid what's the rush”
Xaos screamed "I want to see my sister" and the man seemed to be stunned “hey kid what's this sister of yours name?”
