Elder Dragons, if there’s one thing we all had in common, it would be our pride.
When Trish tried to attack me from behind, I lost it.
I manage to hold off killing her but this was probably worse.
I dislike sneak attacks, but that’s probably because I’m strong.
If I were weak, I would probably employ them all the time.
But It’s just another thing I have to keep in mind now.
Humans are weak and yet they are abundant everywhere.
It’s their ingenuity that’s kept them alive.
That’s what master taught me long ago.
Yet, I still can’t keep my rage in check sometimes.
Well dwelling on things for too long is bad for me.
So, I decided turned in for the night.
I don’t have the same needs as humans, so I just slept on a tree branch.
I wonder if my parents see the same stars.
My brothers never really bothered with aesthetics, only caring who was stronger.
But I was always the strongest, the weird one of the nest.
I was the last to hatch and had green scales.
My parents thought I was a wind dragon at first when they saw my color and size.
But they accepted me eventually as a small, green earth dragon that could use magic.
The only dragons that could use magic were the dragons that humans revered.
I’m pretty sure they were distantly related to us Elder dragons or some off mutation.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
But they are nowhere as strong as we Elder dragons are.
So, it’s still a mystery why after so long, an Elder was born with magic.
I’m told that they started a world war looking for me.
Yet somehow, they all disappeared, only being mentioned as “sealed” away in some old books.
I’ve been trying to find anything out about those events.
But beings over a thousand years old are rare.
Usually though, it means that they are strong.
So, I fight and fight until the one who can help me will appear.
Sometimes, I make connections with humans but they never last long.
After master died, his son saw my true form and I ran away.
I wonder what he’s been up to?
It’s been seventy years, hopefully he had a good life.
Eventually, I got tired from thinking about the past and fell asleep.
I woke up the next day and found my way to the road again.
I decided to head to the capital Foren of this country Emisia.
It was a relatively new country, it wasn’t here all those years ago when I first met master.
He was a retired swordsmaster of renown who lived in a small village with his son.
His wife had died and he lost his will to fight.
He past the days with his son, in peace.
But I needed a way to hide my true form and came to him for training.
Learning how to fight like humans was useful.
He didn’t open the door until the third day I stayed outside his house.
Nowadays, the village is gone and a giant capital is in its stead.
And it was a sight to behold as I walked over a hill.
It had a huge wall that wrapped around the city.
Peeking out in the middle, could only be what I assume to the King’s castle.
I walked towards the gate and saw a long line of people waiting to get in.
There were knights at the entrance going through everyone one at a time.
I got to the end and waited for my turn.
“NEXT”
I walked up to the two knights and prepared for their questions.
They both had helmets on but I heard a young man’s voice talk to me.
“Name and reason for entering Foren?”
“I’m Gia, I’ve come to see the sights”
The knight looked over me and pointed at my side.
“That your sword?”
“Yes, it is”
“Mind if I take a look?”
I covered my side and moved away a bit.
“Is there a problem sir?”
I said with a calm smile on my face.
There was no way I could show him this sword.
Anyone could tell that it was evil if they saw it.
“HEY!!! Everything must be inspected”
“Now, Now”
The other knight tried to calm him down.
“Obviously, this pretty girl isn’t someone who is dangerous right? I’ll handle her, go look at the next person, will you?”
“Tch”
The first knight scoffed and moved away.
“Thanks”
I said to the second knight.
“No problem, the kid just started and doesn’t know the ropes yet. Now I really have to inspect EVERYTHING on you.
Unless of course you pay the toll”
“Oh of course. Will these do?”
I handed him two of the gold coins I got from the bandits.
“These will do nicely. Enjoy your time in Foren Ms. Gia”
“I intend to”
He welcomed me past the gate and I was finally in Foren.
