The night of good and evil

The night of good and evil

Ancient tome in hand, Nyx, Aric, Magnus, and Elara returned to Sylvaris, determined to seek more guidance from the seer, Isolde. The eerie forest seemed to whisper secrets as they made their way back to the clearing where they had first encountered her.

However, as they approached the familiar spot, a sense of unease washed over them. The clearing was eerily silent, the fire long extinguished and the pot overturned. There was no sign of isolde.

"Something’s wrong," Aric said, his hand instinctively going to his sword.

They searched the area, and Magnus found what they feared most: Isolde's lifeless body lying amidst the grass, her eyes closed as if in peaceful slumber. Nyx knelt beside her, checking for any signs of life, but it was clear she had passed.

"She’s gone," Nyx whispered, her voice choked with emotion. "But how? We just saw her."

Elara noticed a strange amulet clutched in isolde's hand, glowing faintly. "This must be important," she said, carefully prying it from the seer’s grasp. As she did, a soft voice filled the air, resonating within their minds.

"Do not grieve, my children. My time was limited, but my spirit remains to guide you."

They looked around, trying to locate the source of the voice, but it seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at once.

"Isolde?" Magnus asked, his voice tinged with hope.

"Yes," the voice responded. "I knew my end was near, but I had to warn you. The true prophecy is more dire than you can imagine. The darkness you must face is not just in the world, but within yourselves. Go and conquer the darkness my children"

The trio reached back to the guild feeling sorrow, the guild master now knew about who they actually were because of mira but he was willing to keep their identity a secret the trio kept doing the tasks they were assigned to and many years passed.

Nyx now 16 has achieved SS+ rank in the adventurers guild and is serving under the direct command of the king as a knight with her companions, Kyros the rogue boy they saved accompanied them to pay the debt.

One fine morning Nyx accompanied by Aric, Magnus and Kyros were patrolling in the kingdom an elven elder came and handed them a beautifully crafted scroll, sealed with an ornate wax emblem depicting the three moons, arrived in their chambers one evening. The message inside, written in elegant elven script, read:

"To the esteemed Nyx and her brave companions,

By the decree of the High Council of Sylvaris and the gracious invitation of Queen Elowen, you are hereby invited to attend the Festival of Luminara. Your presence is requested at the Moonlit Glade at twilight on the eve of the festival.

May the light of the moons guide you.

Sincerely,

Eldarion, Keeper of Traditions"

"What is the festival of Luminara? "They said.

" The Festival of Luminara, an ancient elven celebration, occurs once every century, marking a rare convergence of the three moons of Sylvaris. The elves believe that during this celestial event, the barriers between the mortal realm and the spirit world are at their weakest, allowing for communion with ancestors and the infusion of magical energies."

"Oh, thank you so much for the invitation we would definitely come. "

In the evening as they made their way to the Moonlit Glade, the forest seemed to come alive with anticipation. Luminescent flowers bloomed along their path, and the air was filled with the soft, melodic hum of elven chants. The trees, ancient and towering, seemed to part gracefully to allow them passage.

Upon reaching the glade, they were greeted by a breathtaking sight. Elves of all ages adorned in shimmering, ethereal garments danced gracefully under the light of the three moons. The air was filled with the scent of exotic blossoms and the sound of delicate, otherworldly music played on harps and flutes.

Queen Elowen, a striking figure with silver hair cascading down her back and eyes that reflected the light of the moons, welcomed them warmly. She explained the significance of the festival and invited them to partake in the sacred rituals.

The festival began with the Moonlight Dance, a graceful and hypnotic dance performed by the elves to honor the celestial bodies. Nyx and her friends joined in, guided by elven dancers who moved with an almost supernatural fluidity.

As the dance concluded, the elves gathered around a massive, ancient oak in the center of the glade. Here, the High Priestess invoked the spirits of the ancestors. Ethereal forms began to appear, filling the air with a soft glow. Nyx felt a sense of awe and reverence as the spirits offered blessings and wisdom to the living.

The participants then moved to long, elegantly set tables laden with an array of exquisite dishes made from rare fruits, vegetables, and meats, all glowing faintly with imbued magic. As they dined, they shared stories and songs, deepening their bonds of friendship and camaraderie.

At the festival's peak, Queen Elowen presented special gifts to Nyx and her companions, each imbued with the magic of the three moons. Nyx received a moonstone amulet, Aric a blade forged from star metal, Magnus a tome of ancient spells, and Kyros a cloak woven from starlight.

As the festival drew to a close, an elder elf approached Nyx with a grave yet kind expression. He introduced himself as Eldarion, the Keeper of Traditions, and presented Nyx with a unique and mystical gift: a young dragon, its scales shimmering with the light of the moons.

"This is Drakonis," Eldarion said, as the dragon nuzzled against Nyx. "He is a rare and mythical beast, bound to you by the light of Luminara. He will aid you in your journey, providing strength, protection, and guidance."

Nyx felt a deep connection with Drakonis instantly, as if the dragon understood her very thoughts. "Thank you," she said, her voice filled with gratitude. "I will care for him and honor this gift."

With Drakonis by her side, Nyx felt a renewed sense of purpose and strength. The festival had given them not just new allies and magical items, but also a powerful companion to aid them in the trials to come.

As they left the Moonlit Glade, they felt the light of the three moons guiding their path, casting a hopeful glow on the uncertain road ahead. The Festival of Luminara had not only been a celebration but also a pivotal moment in their journey, heralding new beginnings and the promise of adventures yet to unfold.

( later that night)

Nyx awoke with a start, drenched in sweat. The nightmare that had haunted her sleep was vivid in her mind: the menacing figure of Thalos , one of the four pillars of the Demon King, standing amidst the ruins of her home. His sinister laughter echoed as flames consumed the palace, and the screams of her people filled the air.

She sat up, heart pounding, and instinctively glanced around the room in the inn where she and her companions were staying. It was then that she noticed the distant glow of fire and heard the faint, unmistakable sounds of chaos. Panic surged through her veins as she realized that her nightmare was not just a dream—it was a premonition.

Throwing on her gear, Nyx rushed to the window and saw the source of the destruction. Sylvaris was under attack. Dark, towering figures moved through the streets, setting buildings ablaze and cutting down anyone in their path. At the center of the chaos stood Thalos, his eyes glowing with malevolent delight.

"He's here," Nyx whispered, her voice trembling with both fear and determination. "Thalos is here."

Aric and Magnus had left earlier that day to scout the surrounding area for any signs of the Demon King's forces. They were miles away and unaware of the immediate threat. Nyx knew she couldn’t wait for their return. The people of Sylvaris needed her now.

Nyx burst out of the inn, calling out mentally to Drakonis. The young dragon, sensing her urgency, soared down from the sky and landed beside her, his scales shimmering in the firelight.

"We need to stop him, Drakonis," Nyx said, mounting the dragon. "We can't let him destroy this kingdom too."

With a powerful flap of his wings, Drakonis took to the air, carrying Nyx towards the heart of the battle. As they approached, Thalos noticed them and smirked.

"Ah, the little princess," he sneered. "Come to watch your new home burn?"

Nyx felt a surge of anger and defiance. "This ends here, Thalos. You won’t destroy another kingdom."

She leaped off Drakonis, landing gracefully a few feet away from Thalos. Drawing her moonstone amulet, she invoked its power, creating a protective barrier around herself. Drakonis circled above, ready to strike.

Thalos laughed, a chilling sound. "You think you can stop me? You're even more foolish than I thought."

He raised his hand, summoning dark energy that crackled ominously. Nyx braced herself, focusing her own magic. As Thalos unleashed a torrent of shadowy power, Nyx countered with a blast of moonlight, the two forces colliding in a brilliant explosion.

Seeing Nyx struggling, Drakonis dove towards Thalos, breathing a stream of white-hot fire. The flames enveloped Thalos, forcing him to retreat momentarily. Nyx seized the opportunity, channeling her magic through her amulet to strike again.

Thalos roared in anger, lashing out with a wave of dark energy that sent Nyx sprawling. He advanced on her, his eyes blazing with fury. Just as he was about to strike, Drakonis swooped in, shielding Nyx with his massive body. The dragon roared, a sound that shook the very ground, and unleashed another torrent of fire.

Thalos staggered back, his dark armor scorched and smoking. "This isn't over, princess," he snarled. "I will return, and next time, you won't be so lucky."

With that, he vanished into the shadows, leaving behind a city in ruins but not defeated.

Nyx struggled to her feet, leaning on Drakonis for support. The fires were being extinguished, and the remaining demons were being driven back by the city’s defenders. Though exhausted, she felt a sense of grim satisfaction. They had survived another attack.

When Aric and Magnus returned, breathless and anxious, they found Nyx amidst the rubble, tending to the wounded and organizing relief efforts.

"Nyx! Are you alright?" Aric called out, running to her side.

She nodded wearily. "We held him off, but Thalos will be back. We need to be ready."

Magnus placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We will be. Together."

Kyros reached her too and told her that "the demons were retreating now and they saved as many people as they could but......Mira . "

"What Mira Kyros tell me what happened? " Said Nyx.

"She was slaughtered and burnt when she was trying to save a child " He said.

Nyx's eyes filled with tears and she said "I think it was me again if only I wasn't here he wouldn't have attacked this place ."

"No my child he didn't attack because of you he attacked because because he was looking for a revenge " The seers voice said .

"Which revenge? " She said

"There are many truths that you don't know and even I don't know but it was so obvious by looking at his face it was the face of a person looking for a revenge so don't jump to the conclusions you did a great job today my child " The seer said.

"Hey Aric let's go see the damage and see Mira too, Magnus report that we were not able to defeat the pillar but he has withdrawn his forces for now to the king "

The aftermath of the battle was so bad there were elves lying everywhere covered in blood the soil had become red and every person was grieving for their families at the town hall. But this time nyx was able to hold her own in front of a pillar of demon king.

Nyx knelt beside Mira, tears streaming down her face. "I'm so sorry, Mira," she whispered. "We couldn't save you."

When Aric and Magnus returned, breathless and anxious, they found Nyx amidst the rubble, holding Mira's lifeless body. Aric's face darkened with sorrow, and Magnus placed a comforting hand on Nyx's shoulder.

"We'll make sure she’s honored," Magnus said softly. "And we'll fight even harder in her memory."

Nyx nodded, wiping away her tears. "We will. For Mira, and for everyone else who has suffered because of the Demon King."
