The End of Apocrypha
A Thirst For Rebirth

A Thirst For Rebirth

"So dark,"

"Where am I?"

"Is it over?"

The place resembled a void filled with darkness. Nothing is visible, and even a small amount of light is enough to blind people inside. and, inside that void, a young man's consciousness was floating into nothingness. He has no idea where he is or where he will be heading. But there was one thing that remained crystal clear in his mind: "He wants Revenge."

"I will take my revenge, you monster!"

Then he remembered the horrifying experiences he endured while alive, as well as the torment he had to suffer. His parents being killed like animals was too much for him to bear, and he had to watch it 1001 times. He was filled with guilt since he couldn't stand up to that monster, and the horrific scene he witnessed will likely haunt him for the rest of his existence.

"Mom, Dad, I'm so sorry for being weak."

"I let that monster torture you both, and all I did was watch that happen."

"Weakness is a sin, and all I can do for now is say sorry,"

As he finished those statements, a ray of light appeared in front of the void. It had no form and resembled a small ball of light. Even though the low light was small, it still blinded him. He couldn't help but cover his eyes, but he quickly realized that he didn't have any arms, and the light was rapidly going directly toward him.

He was still baffled; he could see but had no physical body, but then the ray of light spoke...

"Do you seek the truth?" The light asked suddenly after I finally arrived close to him.

"What truth?"

"The truth why your God decimated your homeworld."

"....."

He kept silent since he couldn't see why a God would ruin his own creation. They were a menace, according to Yaldabaoth, but what kind of menace were they to God that he decided to annihilate the whole planet?

"I beg your forgiveness," the light said unexpectedly.

"Forgiveness?"

"I made him, and he was my pride and joy, but h-,"

Nathan then exclaimed, just as the light was going to say another word...

"YOU CREATED THAT GOD THAT KILLED MY PARENTS AND MY FRIEND?!?!?" he raged.

"Yes," the light said, "and I begged for your forgiveness."

"Forgiveness?" he asked sarcastically, "Did you know how my parents died 1001 times in front of me!?!?"

"I know," the light stated seriously, "and I also know that those horrible memories will follow you around forever."

"Then why didn't you prevent that God from annihilating our planet?"

The light didn't respond to his question, and after a few moments of silence from the light, Nathan asked another question...

"God was meant to protect us and give us hope," he lamented, "but he destroyed everything I loved right in front of my eyes."

After a brief pause, the light spoke to Nathan...

"Let me ask you a question, something child: how would you feel if you murdered your own child and spent eternity knowing you killed your pride and joy with your own hands?"

"AND WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK IF YOUR PARENTS WERE KILLED IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES, FOR A FUCKING ONE THOUSAND AND ONE TIMES!!!" Nathan roared furiously, ignoring her attempt to gain pity.

"I-do-n"

The light tried to respond to his statements, but it couldn't say anything because it understood Nathan was enraged by the destruction of his homeworld and the loss of his loved ones...

"If you're not going to say anything, then just leave me alone; I've had my fill of Gods and other higher beings," Nathan answered calmly.

Nathan then no longer spoke after he said that, but then the light spoke again...

"I was supposed to be the manifestation of Wisdom itself, but my love for my child blinded me, and now he continues his wicked ways, and all I did was watch," the light pauses for a moment before continuing," I was a bad parent, instead of rebuking him for his wrongdoings, I hid here because I couldn't bear the thought of ending him with my own power," it said with a heartbreaking tone.

"So does that mean that you want me to do the dirty work for you?" he questioned.

"Not exactly, but you have the choice to do that,"

"Then why me?" I'm a broken person, and I know that God and his subordinates probably did the same thing to others, "

The small light from before gradually became larger, and after a brief while, it took on a new appearance. It had turned into a beautiful goddess with white hair and bright golden eyes. Nathan had never seen a woman so stunning. She was even more beautiful than Raphael, whom Nathan deemed the epitome of beauty. Only one word can accurately express her elegance...

It was Divine!

The light was bright enough that he could now see everything around him now that the darkness in the void had vanished. He could see his form right now, which appeared to be black smoke drifting away. When Nathan turned to glance around, he was flabbergasted by what he saw. Several statues had been cut in half or broken into pieces, and banners near the statue remained undamaged, but they were severely aged by time and appeared to be relics of a bygone era. The structure's walls were either damaged or reduced to rubble, giving it the appearance of a vandalized God's sanctuary. A skull sat atop an empty throne that had been sliced in half in the middle of all of this.

"What happened to this place?" he questioned, a puzzled expression on his face.

The woman explained, "This realm is called Barbelo, and this is the Gods' graveyard."

"Is this then the afterlife?"

"No, this is the location where only gods go once they die, and you are the first mortal to visit."

"How did I end up here?"

"Someone must have sent you not knowing that I reside here," the woman replied.

Nathan had many more questions for this woman, such as: what was that skull on the empty throne?, why was this place decimated?, why did all the Gods die? and so on, but the woman spoke before he could ask all of these...

"I know you have a lot of questions about everything, like why your homeworld was destroyed or what happened to this realm," the woman said, "but let me ask you one more time, Do you want the truth?" She asked seriously

Nathan hesitated before responding. He was still furious with her because she had created a creature, or what we would call a God, who had destroyed, tormented, and traumatized him for the rest of his life. But, as the old saying goes, curiosity killed the cat. He then responded...

"So, what is the truth?"

She said, "If you travel into his realm of seven heavens and find the truth for yourself."

Nathan bit his lower lip, frustrated. "I'm already dead and even if I could, I'd be powerless again."

"I can provide life once more, and you can live there with a fresh start," she continued. "You can do whatever you want there, whether you want to learn the truth for yourself, live a perfectly normal life, or even exact your revenge."

"But, how will I develop power in order to avoid being powerless again?" Nathan questioned.

"All realms of the 7 heavens are born equal, and the only way to become more powerful is to seek knowledge and understanding of the world of magic and weapons." The woman explained

"Does that mean I have a chance to avenge myself?"

"There is a chance," she replied.

Although those memories would continue to torment him, knowing that he had the opportunity to exact vengeance on the person, no, I mean monster, responsible for these memories fuelled him, and his resolve to become stronger was now at an all-time high.

The woman asked, "Do you wish to be reborn?"

But Nathan suddenly asked her, "Do you have a name?"

"It's been so long since someone asked me that question," the woman said, shocked.

"Well, do you have one?"

She smiled and said, "I was one of the universe's entities and have been here since the beginning, I am Wisdom herself, and my name is Sophia," she stated.

"I accept your offer, Sophia," Nathan stated solemnly, "but you cannot influence my decisions, whether I choose to end the universe or live a fully normal existence."

"It's the least I can do for what my child and his subordinates did to you, and I asked for your forgiveness once more," she said as she lowered her head.

"Enough with the formalities," Nathan says, pausing briefly before continuing, "Thank you for giving me this opportunity."

"I wish you the best of luck in your new life, little one," Sophia replied, smiling. "May wisdom guide your decisions and journey."

Sofia then cast a spell that sent him to the realm of the 7 Heavens!
