Part 9: Impatience

Part 9: Impatience

A couple hours passed with Merideth still stuck in the two boys’ room with no power. She sat around texting Roxanne and Josephine who were all complaining and having a mental breakdown about the rain. Josephine complained about Alana leaving her, which she didn’t like. Roxanne moaned and groaned about her hair being ruined and not being able to go back to her room to fix it.

The rain was a disaster for these two girls. Merideth remained calm and content about her situation, getting to know Justin and Eric was comforting and entertaining. As the night went on, the mood began to shift, and Eric started making up “real” ghost stories to keep himself from being bored.

“And that’s why I don’t trust a bitch with gold teeth anymore.” He expressed passionately, concluding one of his scary stories.

“I had a stalker once,” Merideth contributed.

“You had a stalker, Mer?” Justin asked while staring straight up at the ceiling from his bed. He laid out comfortably with his arms crossed behind his head and resting on top of a large fluffy pillow.

“Yeah! I did! He was so creepy!” Merideth’s tone was lively, and she almost seemed excited to talk about her stalker.

“Well, go on. Tell us about it! We ain’t going nowhere,” Justin insisted.

“Okay okay!” She started. “Well… when I was about fifteen, I noticed this creepy guy wearing a black hoodie that covered his head following me home from school one day. I didn’t think anything of it at the time because I just thought maybe he lived on the same street as me or somewhere along the way. But, at some point, after a couple times, I started looking out the window, curious as to where he was going. That’s when I noticed the strangest thing; he would stand behind our fence peeking at our house for over an hour sometimes before turning around and going somewhere else! Ew! It was so weird! Sometimes he would even stand behind a tree thinking about god knows what.”

“Probably beating his meat,” Eric suggested, letting out a soft but audible chuckle.

“Ew… I fuckin’ hope not,” she expressed, disgusted. “Well anyway. I started bringing bear mace just in case he tried to try something you know? I didn’t really think about calling the police because I was fifteen, and my parents were too busy to care, so really it was the only option I could think of. So, another day, I got fed up with him following me, so I came out of my house and confronted him. I walked outside with my bear mace and stuttered real sassy with my high pitched 15 year old squeal, ‘Hey, bitch! Quit f-f-following me! I’ll spray you with this b-b-bear mace! It would fuck up a bear, so I’m sure it would f-f-fuck you up too!’ I wanted to sound threatening, you know? So he would take me seriously. And as soon as I showed him the mace he shouted ‘Sorry!’ Then he turned around and ran away. I later found out from a nearby neighbor that he was just a 12 year old boy with a learning disability that thought I was cute. My family later had dinner with his family, and I gave him a kiss on the forehead to be nice. It was still scary though!”

“Absolutely terrifying. That was a great story, Mer!” Justin exclaimed and Eric clapped sarcastically from his bed.

“Hey! I can’t believe I hadn’t mentioned it yet! I’m hosting a big party in two weeks. You two want to come?” She exclaimed excitedly.

“Oh imma be down for sure,” Eric said with little enthusiasm.

“Sure. Just send me the date and the time when it comes up, and we’ll both be there,” Justin added.

“Perfect! It’ll be fun!”
