Darkness, ever oppressing, all-encompassing darkness. All that I can sense around me is the darkness. The last thing that I remember, before all I knew was darkness, is foggy and difficult to recall.
I remember walking down a road, while holding hands with a woman. Ashley, that’s her name. We were talking when suddenly I heard two incredibly loud bangs, and saw a man running out of the bank right in front of me. I heard another shot as it rang out, and instinctively I threw myself over Ashley as I pulled her to the ground. Then immediately I felt pain, pure agony all throughout my body, and it is all I could feel.

The last thing that I can remember clearly before this all-encompassing darkness is Ashely’s tears falling onto my face as she cradled my head in her arms, and then now, the ever-present darkness.
