Chapter two
Nova
Sometimes when all of my friends are gathered together, I feel like we are a family. We’re so close. We all lost our parents when we were little, so I think we just gravitate to each other. I dread telling them the “news” or whatever you want to call it because I have no idea how they will react. Solace, Quinn, Reagen, and I are all sitting in the living room. I glance at Reagen from time to time. I mean, I told Reagen about the other night's events, and he hasn’t talked to me since. If my brother won’t accept it, how will my friends? And on top of that, this is like a movie scenario. They’ll probably just laugh at me. I have no idea where to start, so I proceed to expeditiously tell my “story”, or whatever. No one really knows what to say after I finish. Jenna, generally being the most organized of us all, was the first to collect her thoughts. Her reaction was about the same as Reagen’s. “So… you can basically fly… and your parents are superheroes… and our planet is like a safe house for you guys?” She says. “Yeah,” I say. “That’s basically it.” “Ummm,” she said. “My parents told me the same story. They were basically people who were supposed to protect this planet, and they gave me a… box. I haven’t been able to open it yet.” “Guys,” Quinn said. “This is kinda freaking me out. Um, the night my parents died, I found a package on my doorstep that had a locket in it. It has a keyhole, but I don’t have the key.” “Ummmmm,” Solace said. “This is freaky. I found a key right after my parents died.” We all look at each other in distress. What just happened?! In a few seconds, all our worlds fell apart. We are all connected in some way. Solace and Quinn have a key and keychain, and Jenna has a box that could also go with the key and all of our parents died, and I have superpowers, and, and… What the heck?! What is this conversation?!
