floor 2:magic forest...but different!

Hmmm. I thought, trying to rack my brain for any ideas. Sadly, however, my brain had a death grip on those ideas and refused to give me them. I sat for maybe an hour or so. Maybe. I don't actually know, as I have no way to know what time it is. I mean, I guess I could look at the sun but…Nah. Speaking of the sun, I was thinking about something. What if I made, or tried to make, a sun-moon cycle on my first floor? That sounds pretty rad, honestly. Well…I guess they already have a sun-moon cycle, considering the huge hole, also known as my entrance. Wait. entrance. It's a hole.

…how do they get out? FUCK! HOW COULD I MAKE SUCH A BIG OVERSIGHT?!

…well, it's too late to go back now. Well, it isn't, it's gonna cost me nothing if I redo my entrance, but I don't feel like it! So I won't. Hmm…maybe there's an exit on the boss floor? Like a staircase up, or a teleporter? No, not a teleporter, I don't know how to do that yet. Wait. a boss? A BOSS! How did I forget a boss on the first floor! Wait, would a boss on the first floor even be fair? Maybe a miniboss on each floor, then? And every 5 floors, there's a big boss? OOH! What if the theme doesn't change every floor, but every 5? And after you defeat the first boss, you go to the next theme?

I might be onto something here. I continued thinking. Would they…evolve, with each floor? Like, maybe in the forest area, the further you went down, the bigger the forest got? And maybe you could find some scraps of civilization? That sounds cool. But what about enemies? Maybe they could go from elementals to more nature themed? There would still be elementals, but instead of the primary attacking force, they could be more like a support, distracting enemies with attacks from behind? Those little fuckers could zip around pretty fast. But what would be the primary attacking force? Ents? Or some type of monster that could use the trees to its advantage?

…maybe fairies? Hmmm. maybe? But how would I get a faerie?

A few hums and hmms later, I decided to throw the faerie idea to the maybe pile. I might stick to the ent idea. But what kind of ent would it be? A humanoid ent? It definitely has to be somewhat weak. Ooh! Maybe typical forest denizens could be turned into enemies? I scanned the little bubble I had claimed on the surface. There was nothing. Well, there were things, but nothing I needed.

…it was oddly silent in the forest, actually. Not a critter or bug in sight. Whatever. I'll come back to that later. Back to the forest. My forest, I mean. Not the outside forest. You know what I mean!

…anyways, I made the staircase rather deep. You know my first complaint, how I said it would be lame to have such a long staircase? Well, I'm taking that statement back. My spiral staircase was long. Very, very long.

At some point, maybe an hour later, I stopped elongating the staircase. Now, it was time for the second-floor entrance. Maybe the staircase could lead into a raggedy shack? That’d be cool. Ooh! The shack could also have some loot! Like a treasure chest or something. Yeah. yeah, I'll do that. First, I needed space. This time, I made a square 10 miles long in each direction. Then the yellow grass, with some blue or green sprinkled in there. The height was about 400 feet this time. Then the shack. The entire thing was made of the magic trees here. Meaning the shack was a nice blue color. Well, it would have been nice, if it wasn't ruined. The entire thing was 2 stories tall. So, more like a house than a shack. It had 4 rooms on the first floor, and 3 on the second. There was the living room, the kitchen, the guest room, and the dining room. On the second floor, 2 of the rooms were bedrooms, while the third was the bathroom. The planks were rotten, and any food that could have been there was either stolen or rotted away. How did I make fruit, you ask? I stole some off a tree in the outside forest. There was a huge hole in the roof like a giant had punched it. Any furniture had been torn up and destroyed, with cut marks littering them, and the floor. And, after adding a small loot chest in one of the bedrooms, I deemed it finished. Now I need to put something inside the chest. Maybe a bow and arrow? Wait, what if the people in this world had guns, and would want guns instead of a bow and arrow?

Eh. I don't care. I made the bow out of the blue planks, and for the string? I dunno. I just imagined a bow made of my wood along with a string. It worked, though. After I looked at the bow for a few seconds, a blue screen popped up

A bow made of a rare wood.

Ooh. cool. I'm pretty sure that's a good bow. I don't know what the requirements mean, but it seems fair. I threw it in the chest, along with a quiver made of wood.

Now for the actual forest. I threw in a fuck ton of trees, now changing the once barren land into a nice forest. I threw in a bunch of those magic flowers, too. I summoned about…50 elementals of different types and threw em in some trees. Now I needed a new enemy type. Hmmm. How would I make a tree come to life?

Maybe…I could give a tree a core? Maybe…

I imagined the magic tree, but added in the core. It was located around the center of the tree. After I summoned it, I noticed a considerable dip in my mana…

Nah I'm just fucking with you, it only cost like 50 mana. In Front of me stood a tree with a core. I tried to order it to move, but nothing happened. Shit. maybe…

I threw about 200 mana into the core. That's all it could take. From the outside, the tree started shining.

Ah…shit. I thought as the tree started growing arms. Then, it uprooted itself, the roots were the legs. In the middle, around where the core was, a mouth grew. No eyes, just a mouth. It looked rather disturbing, honestly. After looking at it for a few seconds, 2 blue screens popped up.

Oh wow. It's not as powerful as I thought it would be. It is like…20 feet tall, after all. I guess size doesn't matter, after all. It looked around, confused. And after a few minutes, its arms seemed to go back inside of it, and its roots went inside of the ground. The mouth was completely closed, and if I didn't know any better, I would have guessed it was just a normal tree. Neato. But, it was too big. How was any beginning adventurer supposed to fight this thing?

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

After a few seconds of thinking, I had decided to make this thing my miniboss. And for my normal enemies, I would need to make a smaller version somehow. But it couldn't guard anything if there was no exit, so I needed to make that real quick.

…maybe the miniboss was stationed over the exit? Like, literally? The exit could be a hole, like 6 feet wide, and you had to jump down to get to the next floor? Of course, there would be a lake under you. Buuut…if you were wearing heavy armor or if you couldn't swim, you would be pretty fucked. And that's not very fair. Maybe a friendly spirit could guard the waters, and save any adventurer who fell in? But…what kind of spirit would it be? A water elemental? No, an elemental would be too weak. Then a water spirit? That could work. Hmmm…

Thoughts for another day. Right now, i was focused on this floor. I stationed the ent where I wanted the exit, and I fucked off to work on something else. This time, I imagined the ent, and kept its name in my mind. However, I made it smaller. About 7 feet. It wouldn't really fit in with the big trees, so I needed a plan for that…wait.

What if these ents could live inside the trees, kinda like the elementals hiding inside the glowing cracks? Maybe…

I imagined a humanoid entity. It was made of roots, and had one big mouth. Their legs were still the same as the big ent, though. In the middle, lay a core. I made sure to emphasize the idea that they could hide inside trees.

This time, about 20 mana was drained. It was exactly as I imagined it. Again, 2 blue screens chimed in.

That's…a lot of math. It's simple math, but still math. I hate math. After looking at the dryads sheet, this monster involves a lot of math. I hate this monster. But I'm still gonna use it! But I hate it. I threw in like…70 of these fucks all over the place and deemed it good enough. Now for the details. I think there's gonna be about 4 houses on this level, including the entrance. So I have to make 3 more. The first one is gonna be as hidden, and secluded as possible. And by that, I mean it’ll be a tree house in the furthest corner away from the exit. But, that also means there’s gotta be good loot! First, I had to choose a few trees. Which wasn't too hard to do as they all basically looked the same. Then, I had to make the floor. Then the walls, you know the whole shabang. Then I had to make it look like a tornado happened. I decided to say “fuck you” to most doors in the treehouse. Then, I made it look like all the nice, blue magical wood looked rotten and moldy. Basically, what I did to the first house is what I did to this house. The loot for this house though? Magical wood armor! And a sword, to boot. The helmet was a generic European knights helmet. The chestplate, though, had spikes on its pauldrons, with three spikes on the gauntlets.

You think I can make a cloak from leaves? I do! And I did! I'll show you the stats when I'm done with the armor. And speaking of armor, now it was time for the pants! Or the cuisse, fan plate, and greaves if you wanna be all technical. First, was the cuisse. Which is just a fancy name for the thigh piece. It was nothing special. For the fan plate, or the knee guard or whatever, I added a spike. Yes, i know, there are a lot of spikes, but spikes are cool okay! And for the grieves, or the piece that goes over your feet, I did nothing. It looked kind of cool, with the multi-colored leaf cloak added to it. Now for stats.

It's a pretty solid sword. The other 2 houses looked like the first, and I made it to where It didn't really have anything. One of them was near the middle, and the other one was close to the entrance. Oh, right, miniboss on the first floor. I decided to just do a lesser dryad. Why not do something creative, you ask?

Because I don't feel like it. That's why.

Anyway, with all that, I'm pretty sure I'm done with the 2nd floor. Entrance, exit, loot, monsters…yeah, i'm pretty sure i got it.

Now, it's time to do the same thing again, but slightly different.
