Chapter 66 - Dungeonkeeping

Chimera (Lesser) selected!

Basic Monster Template Generated:

Hieracosphinx

Next Monster Template available: Level 25

Huh. I wonder what that is. I have a lot of other things to do, but… summoning an example of my newest monster template to see what it is and what it can do should be fine, right? Right?

We are doing it.

Summon!

Just like every other time, space tears and matter begins bleeding into reality from beyond. Honestly, it is a very interesting process. This time, it is accompanied by a feeling of curiosity from the tear, a near overwhelming urge to investigate and explore. The matter forms an orb hovering in front of the stage, before excess starts vanishing, leaving a small quadrupedal shape with a tail wrapped around it, curled into a circular shape. The more defined it becomes, the more obvious the fuzz and fur on it become, gradually taking on an orange color.

Its head is buried between its forelegs but there is a shift there, both the color and texture changing. Instead of the regular fur, a layer of whitish fuzz surrounds the creature's neck before feathers sprout to cover the shape and hide the fuzz. When the creature stops changing, it slowly begins to unfold itself and stretches.

A small feline is standing there on padded paws adorned with sharp claws. The head however is that of a bird of prey, a hawk. It sports sharp features and alert eyes culminating in an even sharper beak angled downwards. It meanders up to where I am floating in front of it and begins to… rub its body against me, releasing a rhythmic purring noise.

I suppose this is its form of swearing fealty.

I acknowledge it and seemingly satisfied it turns and wanders off to explore its surroundings. I cannot help but be awed by its movements as it jumps off the stage all the way onto the first row of seats several times its bodies length away, then swiftly sprints off down the room. This one is fast. If the claws are not just for show, I might have gotten exactly what I wanted for my dungeon… an agile defender, capable of constant harassment and swift relocation against any who dare invade.

While the little scamp is off to explore - and explore it does, its curiosity is almost burning - I turn back towards other things. Namely, name and class selections… There are six of them waiting for me.

Three of them are standing there before me, polishing their shining armor and weapons. Alright folks, gather up, we have classes to select.

The mannequins jump up and assemble before me, Siegfried looking on with anticipation.

Curtained in Steel - Level 1

I will just… check the two of you… yeah, you both have that option as well… fine. Siegfried now has three squires it seems. They all have the same skill as well - a passive that helps them wear armor and move in it while making it more durable.

You two need names, still. Isabella, is it? Got it. What about you? Lionel, huh? Nice, that makes this simple then. Congratulations, you three!

Next up there is a sprite to deal with, and then finally the doppelgangers have both earned their class as well.

Sprite! Come on over and pick! While you think of a name maybe, I will pull up your class selections.

Monster Class Selections (Sprite):

* Fae Trickster

* Fae Diplomat

* Wind Sprite

* Plant Sprite

* Fae Brawler

Ooookay. I understand Fae Brawler, they did their utmost with their tiny claws and teeth. But why Plant Sprite is there, I have no idea.

You got it? Great. Bitterblossom? Sure, sounds like a reasonable name for a Sprite. And you want the Plant Sprite? Okay, but there are not a lot of plants down here, okay? If it needs plants to work, that's not going to be great.

Yes, yes, just cautioning. Go ahead.
