Note: This is in the perspective of a baby dragon.
A world accompanied by pitch darkness. A sound repeatedly and rhythmically beating – a heartbeat. I was awoken by it.
My consciousness is still blurry and hazy. The only thoughts I’m able to muster is that I’m somewhere safe and secure, at least for the moment. And with that, my mind blanked out and my consciousness slowly faded again…
After an unknown amount of time had passed, I regained consciousness only to find some changes to the darkness encompassing me when I opened my eyes. There were small white cracks that seemed to have appeared out from nowhere. Pure dazzling sunlight seems to be radiating from those tiny cracks, probably from the outside.
The warmth of the light from the cracks seems to be giving strength -enough strength to break free from this place that I was in. So, following what my mind was telling me what to do, I poured every ounce of my strength into moving my tiny arms and legs to push against this barrier holding down onto me.
“Craccck!!!”
A huge chuck of the barrier fell out, leaving a gap for the white radiating light to peer through almost blinding my sensitive eyes. The sting only lasted for a few moments though and quickly dispersed. I reopened my eyes quickly after the pain subsided to peer through the gap to find….
A huge creature adorned in pure-white glittering scales with gigantic white wings protruding from her back. Her features were that of a predator and the size of the creature could easily be considered to be the scale of a small mountain. Both combined only added to making the creature seem menacing and oppressive. Only, her eyes betrayed her intimidating looks for it appeared gentle and soothing.
Along with that gentle gaze, she was also giving off motherly aura. It seems as if she was beckoning me to hurry out to greet her. I felt a close connection with her and something tells me that she was my mother.
Not feeling any signs of danger from her, though shocked at first, I slowly begin making my way out of this thing holding me down from going to her.
Seeing me do that, the huge white-scalely creature let out a soft growl. Its eyes shine of pride and warmth. With those eyes serving as encouragement, I was finally able to break free from this round object that was obstructing me.
I slowly crawled out into the light and took a quick glance around me. Surprisingly, I found there to be around five of these strange round objects near me. Though they were still undisturbed. It seems that I was the first one to come out. Knowing that somehow made me a bit happy and proud.
A deep and melodious feminine voice quickly snapped me out from my pondering:
“Little one, you are the first of the batch. Though you may not know what this signifies yet, I congratulate you. However you must always remember that as the eldest, you bear the responsibility of taking care and looking after your younger siblings.”

Those words for some unknown reason shook my body and it quickly itched into my heart. I knew that something of very important value was just said to me even though I could not quite comprehend what was said. In response, I could only nod my head up and down.
Seeing my nodding, she let out a satisfied grunt and turned to face the other strange objects. One appeared to be moving and there were imminent cracks appearing on the surface of it. With the same process as me, the tiny creature inside inspected her surroundings and after gathering enough courage finally stepped out.
The tiny creature who emerged out from the strange object was of a pale-green color. Her tiny horns and claws were undeveloped and only serve to make her seem vulnerable. And I could clearly see that I was the bigger one between me and her as she approached and sat right next to me.
Taking my eyes off her, I saw that two other strange objects were stirring and shaking with cracks appearing. The timing was almost perfect and moments later, and two little creatures popped out, one of a purplish color and the other of a crimson red.
They took curious glances around and when finally satisfied looking around, settled down beside me and the pale-green dragon.
Moments passed but the other one object remained still and silent. After seemingly hours had passed by, the gigantic white creature let out a soft sigh and gave a soft and sorrowful glance at the silent object. We could only watch silently for even we know that the one inside it would never come out to greet us.
The white creature, after a long moment of silence, finally brought her gaze back to us and spoke:
“It seems that there will only be four of you. Though, the other one did not make it through, and though it brings great sorrow and pain to me, we must move onward. For now, since you have only been recently come into this world I expect all of you to be tired so for now, I’ll let you have a decent amount of rest tonight. I’ll inform more of what’s to come tomorrow morning. But be sure to get a good night’s rest because you’ll need it tomorrow.”
And with that, the white creature, my mother, fell to a great slumber. But not before encircling her children around with her body and tail protecting them from harm’s way.
Her words certainly were taken to heart by me and the others because as soon as she went to sleep, we also began to tidy and ready ourselves for rest as well. Her words left me anxious and the hint she gave were obviously clear.
Tomorrow wasn’t going to be easy day and I’m going need every possible ounce of strength I could muster for it. Only with some rest will I be ready for it. So with that in our minds, we quickly fell asleep.
With that, my first day passed.
