Chapter 2 - Red

A young girl, with long red hair, fair skin and white as a flower of the valley, an expression of curiosity on her face, in a relaxed and calm pose, she gently caresses the head of a cat, which responds to affection with meows and gestures of affection, this could be a common scene, but the young girl is completely naked, in a temple forgotten by time, inside the Garlix mountain.

Sabber watches her, curious about everything that happened, her body was already relaxed, fear made her legs almost numb, but she managed to hold her ground, and as she tried to think of what to say, the girl gave a terrifying scream.

"Ahhh, but what happened?" She said while looking at her hands, and gently gesturing her hands, then, she soon stood up, and Sabber could see all the shapes of her body, from her height and body type he would have guessed she was a teenager, if he saw her in the streets, was much shorter than him, but certain parts of the body were already well developed, thick legs, a belly already showing a slight definition with a little of the apparent abdominal muscles, and a long hair that went to the middle of the back, despite , causing a great impact to anyone who saw it, would certainly be very well seen by anyone who saw it, it could even pass as someone of the nobility.

She looked at Sabber with her ruby red eyes and her expression changed, her happy face turned into an angry face, she opened her arms wide, and let out a loud scream, which caused an echo throughout the temple and left her very uncomfortable.

She looked at her hands, wondering what happened, she looked like she was sad about it all, and said something to herself.

"Yeah... Excuse me, would you like to wear this?" Sabber had taken off the upper part of his armor, and he took off the long-sleeved shirt he was wearing and offered it to the young woman.

When the young woman realized that she was completely naked, she gave another scream "I can't believe this!" And she quickly took the shirt from Sabber's hand and said "look the other way"

The young woman put on the shirt, and it looked like a short dress on her body, going a little below the hip, something unusual in the Roseux kingdom.

"What did you do to me?" The young woman asked Sabber

"I was just defending myself, I wouldn't die by your hands" Sabber said with conviction

"You who invaded my resting place, you better undo what you did immediately!" The young girl was irritated and was raising her fists towards Sabber.

"You see, I was just looking for this cat, if I had known I would have found a dragon, I would never have come" Sabber tried to find a way to fix things, but he was relieved to have survived.

"How did you turn me after all? Tell me everything you know" The young girl was holding back from going at Sabber and attacking him in some way.

"I've never heard of anything like this, and I know a lot of stories about adventurers and their exploits, but it's the first time I've seen something like this, a strange temple, and with such weird images" Sabber wasn't sure what to say, he didn't want to cause the girl any more harm, she looked downcast, and now that she's in human form, he feels more empathy for her.

"This is a very old temple, a few humans used to come here to talk to dragons and learn about magic, but that was generations before I was born, and I've lived for over a century." The young woman was calmer, but the expression on his face was still that of someone enraged,

"Over a century?" Sabber was surprised, and even more so to learn that she was so much older than he was.

"Well.. I just used this scroll I found on that altar" Sabber showed the scroll to the young girl.

"Fine, so just use it again and I'll be back to normal, okay?" The young girl looked relieved.

"I'm not sure, scrolls don't work that way" Sabber rubbed his head, he was shy and uncomfortable not being able to help this girl.

"But let's try, maybe it will turn me back" The young lady looked determined.

"But you promise you won't attack me? I just came after this cat, I'll get him and leave here quietly" Sabber was suspicious of the situation, but he couldn't leave her like that, apparently she really liked being a dragon.

"This cat has kept me company the last few days, so with great regret I'm letting you guys go" She seemed to be more thoughtful about letting the cat go than Sabber himself, she really didn't care much for him

"Alright then, I'll change her back and I can go away peacefully" Sabber wanted to see if she changed her mind.

"Be quick" was all she said.

Sabber with a certain way, struck a dramatic pose and used an expression as if he was a great wizard, and with his eyes closed and bright, he slowly opened the scroll towards the young girl and when the scroll finished opening completely he gave a shout "Haaaa !".

A soft golden light came out of the scroll on the hand, the young girl was surprised, but she was already striking a dragon pose in her splendor, but nothing happened, the glow ceased after some time and she remained in human form.

"But what are you doing, there must be something wrong with it, or you didn't do it right!" She was even more furious, apparently she was an impatient person.

"Let's try again" Sabber closed the scroll and then opened it completely, again, a small glow came out of the scroll, but she remained in her human form.

"It's not possible, I can't stay this way, I have to go back to the dragon world soon" She seemed to be very nervous and worried, looking at her hands in disbelief about what was happening.

"Back to the dragon's world? You don't live here?" Sabber had no information on that.

"This is a secret, but dragons and other types of creatures live in another world, less evolved magical beings live here in your world" She was so furious that she didn't think about the impact this information would have.

"Another world?" Sabber took a few steps back "some cults say things about other worlds, but that always seemed like crazy people" Sabber was shocked by the new information.

"Usually these people are really crazy, they talk about strange and useless things, in our world we are warned about this" The young girl became more conversational and saw that she couldn't say much more about it

"But if even you didn't know about this scroll, maybe some other, older dragon knows how to turn you back" Sabber felt guilty for apparently having taken the young lady from her home.

"I know there are some dragons hidden in this world, but I wouldn't know how to contact them that way, I would have to look for them, and for other temples like this one" She was very nervous, furious

"Apparently there's not much information here, I just see these stones with these weird designs" Sabber spoke kindly, trying to comfort the girl.

"These temples were hidden inside rocks by a certain earth dragon, these columns should be kept intact, as they tell us where to find the other temples, and many more things, look more closely at each column and you will know where some of the other temples are. ." She was practically asking for his help without asking directly.

"Does it only show the location of some temples?" It seemed that Sabber was getting very happy with all this information, he was an avid reader and loved to learn new things.

"Actually, it only shows the location of one temple, each temple shows the location of the next temple, this was the first one, it was used to start humans, at least that's what I learned" Sabber realized that she was confused too, she didn't quite know what to say

"So you don't know much about it either?" Sabber began to feel more comfortable around her.

"I don't know much about your world, I've never been here before, and these temples have been abandoned for a long time, they only serve as a hiding place for dragons when we visit this world" She was restless, she didn't want to stay in that human form

"Just look for the column that has the information on the next temple so we can get out of here soon" She got angry again and yelled at him again.

Sabber would normally fight back for such a provocation, he grew up with many brothers and was used to periodic fights and arguments, but it all ended well in the end, and he also felt guilty for having done this to her, so he kept his mouth shut.

"I'll look at these columns more calmly, I was already doing this, but I couldn't see them all, just stay here and don't let Fefe get away" He said with his head down

"Fefe?" She asked

"That's the name of that cat, I came to this mountain to find him" He said in a selfless way, proud of himself.

"I didn't know this feline was so important, I'll keep an eye on him" She took the cat in her hands, stroked it a few times and soon growled in joy

Sabber went back to looking at the columns, he had to use a makeshift rope with cloths he found on the altar to look each column to the top, the drawings were fascinating, he at first thought it was some war between humans and dragons, but after what was there learned, saw that there were different types of interactions they were having.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Sabber found a column that only had images of landscapes, they were really close to reality, he saw images of some places that he recognized from stories and books he read, they were far north, very far from where they were, and one of the main images was of a mountain with a kind of face on its side, the rocks of the mountainside formed an image that appeared to be a face, and he soon recognized this mountain.

"In the twentieth year of the reign of Antres Jeremiah, an army of ice trolls came from some land far to the north, there were about 4000 ice trolls left destroying everything in their path without caring about the consequences, even the northern kingdom Silvarte, had problems with these orcs and they made their way straight south, straight to the Roseux kingdom, no one could say what these trolls wanted, for all they left behind was destruction and death, and at that time the Kingdom was already in direct war with the sand people of the Kingdom of Tressent, and much of its strength was outside the country, but a warrior named Affnerr X. Castela alone, decided to go face this army of ice trolls, and waited for them in the Rareface Mountains, as it was an environment that was favorable to the agility and attack force he had, asked the local population to set up wooden barricades so that the trolls not pass the mountains, and for 10 days he fought without rest, whenever a large amount of trolls gathered, he would flee for a few hundred meters, climb some rock, or tree, he was known for his agility and dexterity, apparently, it only took one hit to kill the troll, or leave it with a mortal wound, and after those 10 days, the troll bodies were scattered all over the mountain, the smell in that place in the following weeks became unbearable, the locals had to organize and burn the bodies, and many other creatures and beings were in the midst of this small army, a few years later, and of other feats, Affnerr X. Castela became an Immortal, taking the chair of Garret M . Hopkins".

"I think I discovered something, the temple is in the Rareface Mountains, it's far north of here, walking would take a few days, but we need more information, there it's close to the border and a very dangerous place, I'm not that powerful enough to go there alone, and I don't know if that way you'd be useful." Sabber was trying to help, but actually did almost the opposite.

"So you're saying I'd be useless? You haven't even met the edge of my abilities." The young girl was furious at what the Sabber had told her.

"I didn't mean to call you useless, I just think that now you've completely lost your skills, but that's no problem, I'm also nothing special and I managed to get into a superior Guild, I think you can also be very skilled if you put in the effort enough" Sabber wanted to cheer her up a little, the guilt was already weighing on his shoulders, he was happy to have saved himself, but he didn't want to go through anything like that.

"Don't you have anything special? I thought you were some kind of mage, for having managed to transform me" The young woman looked the Sabber up and down, and soon noticed the terrible state of his leather "armor", his sword, which looked being too small, and her shoes apparently worn out.

"Actually, I don't have any physical abilities beyond normal for a human, and I don't have any magical powers either, the only thing I have that's extraordinary is a super memory, I can remember absolutely everything" Sabber tried to show a little grandeur as he spoke, but he knew this was something very out of the ordinary, and at the end of the sentence it all sounded very strange and foggy.

"No superhuman abilities and no magic? Could such a person defeat me?" The young girl spoke to herself and was completely pale, with a hard, closed expression.

"Well I think we'd better get out of here and take shelter somewhere, the torch's fire is going out and I don't know how we're going to get off this mountain" Sabber was clearly discouraged, but he needed to act.

"I still feel the magic running through my body, I think I can make some fire" The young lady spoke this decisively, then, suddenly and to Sabber's surprise, she closed her eyes, concentrated for a few moments, and when he opened it he gave a very loud cry, and a flame the size of a hand came out of his mouth.

Sabber's gaze changed in that instant, and he felt a shiver run through his body, even though it was a spark compared to the power before, it was still something that impressed him a lot.

The look of the young girl completely changed, as it was a new experience for her, she was also impressed.

"I think if I keep practicing, I can improve a lot, I still feel the dragon's blood in me" Now she seemed excited about it, and that enthusiasm reached Sabber as well.

"Oh, since we're going to spend more time together, we better introduce ourselves formally, my name is Sabber D'doria, how about you?" Sabber now showed a newfound spirit.

"My name is practically unpronounceable in your language "Mmtchqsll JjqckksvNn" so I guess I'll have to choose another name.

"How about 'Red Twilight' Sounds pretty like you?" Red's eyes sparkled like jewels, and Sabber knew she liked it.

"Well, now get Fefe and let's get off this mountain" Said Sabber, excited

"Yes." Red simply nodded in agreement.

< Chronicles of Rousex >

< Know the fire luck >

"About 1 year before becoming Immortal of Rouseux, Affnerr X. Castela almost lost his life in a barbaric prank with another strong competitor to the Immortal of his time, but who was not bestowed with this blessing, but his power was really worthy of becoming an Immortal, but he lacked luck, on other issues.

Affnerr was a warrior who worked insanely on his agility, he used short and agile swords, one-armed shields, and a small device under the shield, which he himself developed, was like a small crossbow with the ability to shoot twelve arrows, and when someone asked about this device, he said that these arrows saved him several times.

Skilled with short swords, bows, and throwing knives, along with his unsurpassed flexibility at the time, Affnerr was one of the deadliest of combat warriors, fought remarkably well at short and medium ranges, and was even better in forests and places with obstacles.

One morning, before the sun even changed the dark of the sky, that Immortal wannabe invited Affnerr to a rare dungeon he had discovered inside a dormant volcano, but this Immortal wannabe had ulterior motives, he already knew about Affnerr's weakness. in long-range fights, and had already explored part of the Dungeon, and discovered a place that Affnerr was extremely unlikely to survive.

Only the two of them entered that Dungeon, and the dispute was about who would get the best treasure in the Dungeon, and shortly after entering, the Dungeon split in a fork in two different directions, and the mage chose the safest direction for him, and without question, Affnerr went the other way.

The beginning was almost difficult for Affnerr, he encountered slugs that seemed to be pure volcanic lava, which left trails of fire wherever they went, bats that were burning in flames, and small volcanic eruptions along the way, it was when in such an eruption, the floor opened and Affner fell into a space filled with volcanic lava, but on top of a huge rock that kept him away from danger, but he soon found himself in a scenario that seemed to be a large trap, there were what appeared to be dogs of embers, who hurled red-hot stones from their mouths, which burned the ground on which Affnerr stood, and after a long time without feeling anything like that, he feared for his life.

The mage was safe, on the opposite side of the dungeon, he was very powerful, but he only fought at medium range, even if he had a much higher destructive power than Affnerr, he would probably lose in a duel, thanks to Affnerr's great dodge, which made him feared even among mages after proving time and time again, that he was superior in mid-range fights, even against magical beasts or dark mages and bandits who fought with magic.

Affnerr was already exhausted, dodging every attack they threw, and the river of fire that ran a few meters below him, made it look like he was being boiled inside a cauldron.

He wore rare armor, made from the hide of a Bison leader of the dawn, a creature that was definitely not meant to be defeated with swords, but Affnerr managed to, and stripped the hide of the animal, and took it to probably the only person capable of creating an armor with that material, and thanks to that, it could move freely and have a phenomenal defense.

Now that same armor was against him, the heat only increased thanks to it, and after countless attacks, he got a little dizzy and couldn't dodge clearly, and was hit in the left hand, which suffered immense burns.

The pain was unbearable for Affnerr, he fell to his knees and with a scream that echoed throughout that space, but the dogs of fire ignored his pain, and continued attacking, he was already by a thread, staggering away from the attacks, several times almost he was hit, and was saved several times by his unconscious reflexes, as the sting of the burn filled his entire body.

He was about to give up when something happened, another eruption shook the whole space and a rock twice the size of Affnerr fell some distance between him and a group of these dogs, he didn't have that much strength left, and normally he could do vertical jumps from 20 meters, and the rock appeared to be just over 20 meters.

The heat was building in his body, the pain of the burn too, and the rock was being consumed by lava, he didn't have any time on his hands, so he played all the cards, and with all he had, he jumped.

The movement was as fast as the attacks of those fire hounds, by some miracle, it felt like he was going far beyond his own limits, he felt the muscles elongate entirely, and all the pain, disappeared, as soon as Affnerr's foot touched him on the stone, and soon after, he retracted his muscles to the maximum and with a strong impulse, jumped towards the dogs of fire.

At that moment, he possessed a sword that was immune to magic, managed to defeat those beings was easier for that same reason, but he knew that the sword wouldn't last long if it was misused, so it only attacked through the eyes or inside the mouth.

Before Affnerr's foot even touched the ground, his sword was already embedded in the skull of one of the Ember Hounds, through the left eye, and the others jumped back, they were as agile as a common canine.

Affnerr without showing mercy, threw a blade in the eye of one of the dogs of fire, and went towards the other with a jump, and used the impulse of the jump to plunge the sword deep into the throat of another of the dogs, there were two left that did not were wounded, and a few others who stayed in the opposite direction from where Affnerr jumped, they kept attacking, but the attacks did not reach Affnerr.

After taking his sword from another one of those red fire dogs, he had to withdraw his sword and dodge a few times, the remaining red-hot dogs were trying to attack him with their fangs and claws, and it looked like it would be quite uncomfortable to be hit by one. of these attacks.

The ember dog with the blade in the eye was completely disoriented, so Affnerr jumped behind him in order to protect himself, and his plan worked, even with his hand covered in burns, he managed to shoot another blade straight into the eye of one of the dogs, and took another hard leap towards the remaining Cinderhound, slamming his sword into the beast's mouth, and the impact was so great that the canine was thrown into the volcanic lava, and from what Affnerr saw, they were not immune to the blast wash after all.

With the other 2 Cinder Dogs disoriented, Affnerr only finished with a sword attack to the remaining eyes, piercing through the head completely.

He was now breathing a sigh of relief, but he noticed something, the other dogs stopped attacking, and when he watched closely, they were coming at him through the rocks in the walls, their claws were so strong that they pierced the rocks in the walls with ease, and Affnerr was left speechless, he was already out of resources, his arrows had run out, and there were few blades left, that's when he saw, beyond where he was, something that seemed to be an entrance in the wall.

Out of resources, and completely at a disadvantage, Affnerr had a new idea, and took off his armor, and threw it into the lava, in the distance between where he was and the exit he found, and a few seconds after the armor reached the volcanic lava, he jumped again at a speed and distance that were beyond his limits, and thus, he reached the end of the Dungeon, without any more dangers, as the mage had to face the Boss alone.

The Dungeon Boss was a kind of giant Bulldog made of volcanic ash, and the mage almost died in that battle, and because of the smoke and ash attacks, he left with less stamina and conditioning physical, and a few months after that day, this mage had to leave his guild, because of these lung sequels, and served as a magic teacher in a tiny village, far from the big cities.

Affnerr managed to find a great treasure, but he lost his armor, which had great sentimental value, and was somehow irreplaceable, and he still had a scar on his left hand, as he didn't wear gloves so he wouldn't lose sensitivity in his fingers at the time, from throwing knives and blades or climbing something, he always remembered how luck needs to be on the side of adventurers, and many other lessons he learned that day."
