Chapter 520:
But even as she conceded, she made sure to boast. She was still resentful after catching Colton paying a visit to Allison.
But Allison cast her a nonchalant side-eye, her gaze flickering. “Once you’re in, Miss Johnson, you can’t leave before the game is over.”
“What?” Melany glanced around in confusion. “But I have no chips left — I can’t play anymore.”
Ignoring Allison’s words, Melany turned to leave, only to be blocked by Amor’s black-suited bodyguards.
“What’s going on?” she demanded, a faint tremor in her voice.noveldrama
Amor leaned in, a smile playing at her lips. “Don’t tell me you sat at this table without knowing the rules.”
Melany turned stiffly. “What… What rules?”
“Like I said, once you start playing, there’s no backing out,” Allison explained again, her lips curling. “You play until you’re either broke or… throw in the towel.”
Amor clapped her hands, her voice carrying a dangerous allure. “What she said is right. No need to be afraid, though.”
She leaned into the table. “I brought you into this, so I won’t abandon you. Besides, running out of money is a minor inconvenience. I can lend you a million.”
Only a fool could be easily manipulated. Amor intended to ensnare Melany, to make her a willing pawn.

Melany’s face paled in fear as Amor’s words sank in. “No. I quit,” she began, her voice trembling.
But she was cut short by the bodyguard’s drawn gun and Amor’s cruel, nonchalant smile. In that moment, Melany realized the danger she was in. Cold sweat beaded on her forehead.
Amor was a viper, she realized. Letting her join the game had been a trap!
Melany found herself with no options left. She could only swallow her pride and ask Amor, “Would you be willing to loan me some money?”
She didn’t have the funds now, but she needed to stay in the game. At least Colton wouldn’t leave her stranded, she thought. If she kept playing, she could use Stevens Group’s money to repay the one million later.
“Certainly,” Amor replied, giving a small nod. Then, almost offhandedly, she added, “But I do have one condition — you’ll need to be my partner in the next round.”
Relief washed over Melany. Without even consulting Colton, she quickly nodded. “Alright, I’m willing to be your partner.” Given the situation, she knew Amor’s skills were stronger than Allison’s. Plus, with their interests now aligned, Amor had no reason to harm her.
Melany thought perhaps she was overthinking things. With Amor on her side, they shared a common opponent, and perhaps they could even push Allison to her limit and make a fortune in the process.
Across the room, Kylo’s voice cut through the tension. “For balance, Scarlet Snake, you may choose a partner too.” Allison rested her chin on her hand, deep in thought.
