Chapter 59: Kilasia, Goddess of Chaos

Chapter 59: Kilasia, Goddess of Chaos

Phoenix Rising stayed in the arena, challenging other guildmates to try and show off a bit of their power. Sora stayed on the outside and would give tips to players when he saw them struggling. LeeLee went up with hesitation and entered the arena, Sora saw this as an amazing opportunity to train her and asked Lone Shadow to step in and teach her a thing or two. The fight was restricted to normal attacks only and Lone Shadow played mostly on defense since Sora wanted LeeLee to sharpen her fighting style.

“Change up your attack pattern, your movements are way too predictable.”

“Y-yes!”

“No, no, no. I didn’t mean to start randomly throwing attacks together, you need to be fluid or else you will leave yourself wide open between attacks.”

“Sorry!”

“Ah, I thought you were really powerful since you were a high rank in the guild. Watch out or I might take your rank.”

Sora watched the two girls spar for a bit and was delightfully surprised that Lone Shadow was a competent teacher. Her movements were basic yet effective so it was easy for LeeLee to start catching on. Some of the other guild members in the arena started to try and learn along with LeeLee. Just as things started getting good a voice that everyone could hear broke the training atmosphere.

-Server Announcement-

I am Kilasia, Goddess of Chaos. Things have been rather boring for me these last thousands of years so I thought it would be fun to play a little game. Here are the rules; Each faction will have a rift opened within their territory. As the rifts continue to remain open stronger monsters will appear, not stopping until the winner is decided. Any creature killed will be sent through the rift once again to a different faction. It will be random of course, so one faction might get every single monster killed sent back to their territory, hahaha wouldn’t that be fun? Oh, and to make it a little more interesting I will handsomely reward the winner and similarly severely punish the loser. Anyways, the timer starts… now!

The sky suddenly turned dark and the world began to shake, making it seem like doomsday had just started. All of the players in each faction started to run around like mad, preparing for the worst and hoping that they wouldn’t be the loser. Sora smiled, Kilasia had always been his favorite goddess since she made things interesting. His guild all left the arena, mounting their wolves and heading towards the main gate. A ripping sound was heard as they made it through the gate. Many players looked up and saw the sky tear apart, leaving a color that looked like red, but also blue; it looked white, but also black. Looking at the large tear in the sky reminded everyone of one thing; Chaos.

Every faction watched as creatures started to pour out of the sky like meteors, crashing into the earth before getting up and walking towards the main cities. The creatures that were sent looked like someone got random parts of creatures and put them together; one had the head of a toad and the body of a bull, one looked humanoid with the head of an alligator with arms and legs like a lion, and one was even just a bird with human arms instead of wings. Every creature looked horrendous and made many players feel extremely uncomfortable. Throughout all of the factions, a single sentence was being said over and over again.

“What the hell are these things!?”

How dare you all insult my children, I’ll have you know I created every single one of them with love and care. Just hearing all of you insult them in such a way makes me… makes me… bahahaha! I’m just kidding you all, these are all my failed creations. Do me a favor and clean them up, thanks a lot for the help.

“What kind of event is this? This goddess is a bitch!”

-Server Announcement-

I heard that.

A bolt of lightning that was the same color as the rift came down and struck the man that had cursed at her, turning him into a frog that hopped around blindly, eventually being squashed by one of the failed creations. Sora and his guild were at the front, fending off the first wave to give players time to convene. Bubbles the Blacksmith set up a portable forge near the entrance of the gate which was quickly covered by a huge crowd of people that needed repairs. Kira had just logged on and was on his way to the gate when he heard the commotion but was suddenly stopped as he got a message from Sora.

“Withdraw food and potions from the guild bank and bring them to the guild, if you don’t fill up your inventory then take some money and quickly buy more supplies from the auction house. We will be alright for a while but the sooner it’s done, the better.”

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

“Got it!”

Sora kept holding the frontlines, swiftly dispatching the creatures that were unlucky enough to target him. All of the creatures were from level 25 to level 30 right now but a few level 31’s started to fall as the battle progressed.

Normally the number of enemies would get smaller as the battle went on but since every creature killed was sent to another faction the battlefield remained full of enemies. The creature that had the head of an alligator had just come back, meaning it was killed in another faction and sent back here. LeeLee was put in charge of the guild while Nobunaga started taking command of random players that didn’t have a group to go with, it created a fortified defense that wouldn’t be broken anytime soon.

The other factions were holding on just as well as The Eastern Legion. Var has a wide open field in front of it, making it easy to spot and attack enemies. Archers and mages were able to bombard the battlefield from on top of the walls of Var, creating an area right in front of the city that was charred black from fire magic, iced over from ice magic, and was littered with thousands of arrows that stuck into the ground.

The battle at Var was on another scale from the one at Frost Peak Mountain since it was easy to access for all players. Plus the new players could even help out with ranged attacks on the wall, along with players that focused more on jobs doing things like repairing weapons and armor at the front gate. Bubbles had just finished repairing equipment from the first wave of customers and thought he could take a break, but before he could even start to relax, more players started rushing over from the battlefield with damaged equipment.

Kira arrived with food and potions completely filling his inventory. Grandpa Blossom had donated a ton of fish to the guild so there were many different foods that had a buff for every person. Kira had to stop at the auction house to buy more potions but didn’t have to buy too much since Athenes had been steadily filling up the guild bank with potions from the ingredients players donated.

-Guild Announcement-

Restock on supplies while we have a chance, this will be a long battle. Bubbles will repair your items and Silent Justice will hand out food and potions. Hope nobody had plans tonight because we are going to be here for a while.

“I need to call out of work, I’ll be right back.”

“Shit! I had a date tonight… oh well, better let her know I can’t make it.”

“Hope nobody had a surprise birthday party planned for me because I won’t be able to go!”

“It’s your birthday?”

“Yup.”

“Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you…”

The entire guild chat started to sing happy birthday to one of the guild members, creating a laid-back atmosphere in this chaotic mess. Sora only laughed along since it was better to take things slow for now, that way people aren’t burned out in the long run. Sora had just seen the creature with the alligator head for the fourth time and already wanted to tear it to pieces out of annoyance.

Blossom turned into the Red Devil once again as she massacred plenty of the failed creations. Her pet, Black Devil, was similarly flying through the horde of enemies and tearing them apart. Her bird was leveling up at a pretty rapid pace but still not as fast as Snow, who was helping Sora finish off every creature he attacked.

“Mister fisherman, why is your pet already level 50 and mine is barely at 39?”

“A better pet is harder to level up. For Uncommon pets like mine, leveling it up to max level can be done in a day. Your pet is an epic tier so it will level up slower.”

“Ohhhh. What’s max level for a pet?”

“Max level is whatever level the owner of the pet is. So your’s would be maxed out at level 48.”

LeeLee had the basic formations already in place and decided to go ahead and join in on killing a few things. She had trained with Lone Shadow for a while and felt like seeing if she improved any. At first, she seemed to have picked up some skills from Lone Shadow, but after a little while, she seemed to have run out of moves and just started her movements at the beginning again. Even during this chaotic battle, Lone Shadow was barking out orders to LeeLee.

“No! Don’t just use the exact movements I showed you, mix it up a little based on the scenario.”

“Sorry!”

“Stop saying sorry!”

The first real challenge appeared after about an hour of slaughter. A large creature crashed onto the battlefield, it looked like an amalgamation of every creature that has been sent so far. The creature let out a nasty sounding roar as it rose up, towering over all of the other creatures around it.

The Eastern Legion gets to fight the first boss, the rest of the factions must feel quite jealous… Don’t worry though, I’m sure he will be on his way to one of you very shortly! Oh, and the girl with the red hair, I think her name is Blossom? I kinda like you so how about becoming my toy? Eh- Valor what are you doing here? Mhhmm… ok.... Wh-what! Buuuut I waaaaant heeeeer… Nevermind girl with red hair, as much as I like you even I don’t want to get on that guy's bad side.

Blossom sighed in relief and secretly thanked Valor for stepping in and stopping the goddess. A lot of people couldn’t help but laugh at the Goddess of Chaos, she might be hard to deal with but she is also quite fun.

Level 35 -Dyroz, The Failed Creation-

The large creature hobbled over to the frontlines, quickly being shredded by the incoming barrage of magic and projectiles. He was already down to 30% health as he finally reached the first player. Luckily the player was a level 43 knight and easily tanked all of the damage the boss could throw out. The first boss wasn't hard at all and helped boost the morale of all the players. Sora knew better though, this wasn’t an event meant to be challenging. It was made to see who can hang on the longest without going insane from the amount of time spent fighting.

The players kept annihilating the enemies with ease, having very few casualties and keeping the player's morale high. A few more waves of enemies died before a familiar face came back to the battlefield.

Level 35 -Dyroz, The Failed Creation-

Sora was surprised as he saw the creature already return to the battlefield. It probably died to another faction and instantly came back here. The creature started wobbling over once again, being ripped apart and dying, only to return again after another couple of waves. Sora rubbed his head as he saw the disgusting creature start the process all over again, memories of the other times he had to fight in this event came back to him and gave him a bit of a headache.

“It’s going to be a long night.”
