Chapter 27
After her outburst, Lilith noticed many faces looking her way with concern. Even Sharl seemed worried as he came off the dance floor placing a hand on her shoulder. “What happened Lils? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Lilith leaned forward and pretended to scan the room swinging her head from side to side. “Nope. No ghosts.” She said, shaking her head ‘no’ before going back to sitting up straight. Lilith then grabbed one of the wine casks filling her tankard again. She had spent the past hour on her extracurricular activities and needed to start catching up to Sir Tanel and Celeste if she didn’t want to be left behind on that front. Without saying another word she began to drink downing half her tankard before taking a breath and looking around.
“So when did you want to start that sword training? I don’t have the greatswords made yet but we can start whenever you have time.” Sharl asked as he poured a normal sized cup of wine for himself.
“Maybe tomorrow afternoon then, but you had better get those wooden greatswords made. If I hit you too hard with a blunted one it might as well be the real thing.” Lilith said raising an elbow to poke him in the ribs.
“Well then, make sure to bring your armor too.” Sharl said with a smile.
Celeste had been listening from her side of the table but now came over to join them her eyes focused on Lilith as she approached, “That dress looked sho pretty when you didz the spins.”
“Heh! Ya, I’m just happy I didn’t club the Regent with my tail.” Lilith chuckled a bit before looking down at her drink.
“Well I am glad we had the slow dance then.” Sharl said with a bit of mirth in his voice.
“Why didn’t the two of you dance?” Lilith asked, looking at Celeste on here right and then to Sharl on her left who was standing over both of them.
Sharl looked past Lilith causing her to turn back to her friend. Celeste shook her head ‘no’ causing her golden hair to shake obscuring parts of her face momentarily. “He’sss too tall. I would have to shtand on his shoes.”
“It might look a bit odd, but... we can give it a try if you want to short stuff?” Sharl half asked, half dared as he leaned in placing one hand on the table while his other held the wine goblet.
With that Celeste’s eyes lit up like a switch had been flipped. Finding renewed confidence she even managed to stand on just her second try. “Yes letsss.” the young girl smiled.
“Good” Sharl confirmed with a nod setting down his drink. “But lets leave the standing on my toes part as a last resort.”
Lilith watched as Sharl guided her to the dance floor, her two friends trying a type of two step as the music was more up beat now. Celeste was managing pretty well considering her inebriation. It looked like Sharl was keeping his neck bent down to watch her and was taking smaller steps. Celeste was looking mostly at Sharl’s chest but she didn’t seem too upset at the view. She turned to look at Lilith a couple times, her friend making a point to clap in approval.
Lilith had gotten to the bottom of her tankard of wine and was feeling a good buzz as she watched the two of them dance. The mismatched couple did look odd but that was just because everyone else looked so normal. The realization suddenly gave Lilith her best idea of the night. “Gonald!” she half screamed at the dwarf across the table from her. “Lets dance!”
Gonald stood up at the sound of his name being called so loudly by a female voice as if by reflex. His head instantly snapped to Lilith’s direction but it was too late as she had already jumped behind him. Instead he looked down at his right shoulder to see her hand placed upon it, a small cloud of mist still expanding off her skin. Lilith then spoke softly in his ear “You didn’t think I was going to let you get away with that Blink Dog joke now did you?”
In another puff of mist they were both on the dance Floor. Lilith swinging in front of him in a single step before she lifted his hand up to her shoulder. Realizing that resistance was futile, Gonald did what any Hill Dwarf would do when confronted with adversity. Apply skill and Strength until the problem was solved.
Lilith was surprised as he grasp her waist and hand with some force and began to lead her in a spinning half galloping fox trot. Lilith was just managing to keep up, her body felt fine but her head was a bit slowed thanks to the effects of the wine. Feeling light headed as they picked up speed she looked down only seeing the top half of Gonald’s face the rest of him being obscured by her bosom. Finally feeling comfortable with the pace, Lilith looked up spotting Sharl and Celeste as they sauntered by, both of them with huge smiles.
Gonald pushed Lilith away for a spin but he couldn’t get his hand up high enough. As she felt the tension in her arm she let her hand come free before she completed the spin and then stepped back into his arms. At least that was the plan. Instead she over shot her position her breasts slamming firmly into his face momentarily blinding the surprised dwarf. The hilarity of the size mismatch when the woman was taller than the man suddenly became quite obvious to the both of them.
Cheers went up from the room as Sharl lifted and spun Celeste in the air while keeping a grip of her delicate hand. She landed gracefully like a feather their arms now extended at full length until he stepped back in to resume their circuitous path around the room.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
Lilith not wanting to be outdone began to Jump around the room as Gonald continued to push her in looping circles, a puff of mist surrounded them with each jump. Soon the floor had a small layer of it adding a bit of atmosphere to the otherwise undercoated section of the tavern. Gonald gave Lilith a pat on the shoulder after the fifth jump to let her know he had reached his limit. Lilith cheered internally as it seemed he was conceding the match.
Lilith danced her fingers a little ways up his back finding that she could feel his muscles moving even through the two layers of his dress shirt and vest. Gonald of course did nothing of the sort he kept his hands firmly in the places for good little Dwarves as he was happily married but at this moment Lilith did not know nor care. She was having a blast and so were the many onlookers including Sir Tanel.
Now just dancing normally, her eyes began to track her two friends. They were the reason she had come out onto the dance floor after all. Compared to the size difference between her and Gonald the two of them looked like they were practically made for each other. Which was seeming more and more likely as the two of them were putting on a master class of country swing dancing causing many of the patrons to clap and cheer with each new feat they pulled off.
This time Celeste was lifted in an arc, her feet completely off the ground, from Sharl’s right shoulder to his left. Then landing, Celeste did a half turn ending with her arm at full extension still holding Sharls hand by her finger tips. He then pulled her back in as she was wrapped in her own arm before she spun away and continued the dance.
When the song switched to something slower Lilith and Gonald waved to the cheering guests and were about to leave the dance floor. Lilith however decided to give Gonald a big hug pressing the side of his head into her chest fully. Releasing him she looked down with a big smile. He had kept up with her the whole time and never demurred in the slightest. ‘Dwarves sure are a brave people’ Lilith thought to herself as the guild master took a moment to recover his wits.
Reaching their table again Goland seemed to still be recovering both mentally and physically as he barely managed to find his chair without his legs giving out. “So no blink dog jokes… duly noted.”
They both had a good laugh as Lilith watched her two friends still on the dance floor looking a bit tired but also comfortable in each others arms. Their size difference didn’t seem be an issue in the slightest now. They were dancing a slow waltz and seemed to be having a good time judging by their smiles. “Well, I learned something new about Dwarves today.”
“Oh ya whats that?” Gonald asked fully prepared for what was bound to be another height joke at his expense.
“I learned that dancing is part of the Dwarven fight or flight reflex.” Lilith said with a smirk.
“Well to be honest that is how we woo our women.” Gonald said as he ran a finger on the rim of his tankard.
“What?”
“Ya, we get blind drunk then dance with the ones that we can still see.” He explained while drinking more wine.
“Wait, if you are blind drunk, how would you see them?” Lilith asked as she took a sip.
“If she is the one, then it don’t matter how drunk you are. You could see them even with your eyes closed.” Gonald said as he looked into the middle distance wistfully.
He then ordered two more casks of wine as Lilith filled her Tankard again finishing off the small barrel.
As the song drew to a close Sir Tanel stood up and began saying his good byes. After having seen a show that he thought could not be topped in a million years he thanked everyone especially Sharl and Celeste as they came off the dance floor with the end of the song. Lilith noticed a special look in Sir Tanel’s eyes as he spoke to the pair. Like he was seeing the start of something grand.
Noticing this Lilith felt a strange wave of emotion wash over her. One that she hadn’t expected. It was some type of longing. A desire for the same type of connection the two of them had even though she knew that wasn’t possible for her. With tears in her eyes that no one else could see she waved goodbye to the regent but didn’t say a word. Instead she managed a smile even though it felt forced on her end.
With the departure of the regent, the guards left as well causing a few of the patrons to let out a roudy cheer. Celeste looked like she was tired and thirsty and began drinking more wine as if it was water.
“Yall looked amazing out there.” Lilith said while wiping the tears from her glowing eyes.
“Well I hase been to a few balls back in Waterdeep but no one eva threw me like that.” she admitted pointing back to the dance floor.
“Ya, she kept landing the spins so I made each one a little higher, that is until I saw her eyes go a bit wide.” Sharl added.
“Are you sure that wasn’t just the wine.” Lilith teased.
“Nooo I’m fine. Look” Celeste pointed a finger at Lilith’s tankard and cast prestidigitation.
Lilith gave her wine a sniff and found that it smelled like honey glazed ham. She raised her tankard to Celeste’s banging them together as they both downed the lot of it.
The two girls continued to talk and drink while the tavern gradually grew less noisy and boisterous as patrons left for the evening or retired to a room for the night.
Sharl and Gonald were talking about the arm wrestling matches earlier, apparently they were debating whether Kevin had gone easy on Lilith.
Lilith then noticed a few women going up stairs with men in tow to the rooms above. She didn’t know whether these were paid relationships or not but seeing them doing this so openly made her think what she was witnessing was normal behavior. In either case she suddenly felt her cheeks were a bit warm. Looking over to Celeste she could see her blushing as well.
Finally Sharl, Gonald, and Hamlin stood to leave saying their goodbyes.
“Make sure to keep her safe tonight, don’t let her out of your sight” Sharl said as he leaned in to whisper in Lilith’s ear.
Lilith gave him a confirming nod before he stepped back and gave Celeste one last hug and a hearty pat on the back. Hamlin went up to a room while Sharl and Gonald went for the door.
And then it was just the two of them and a cask of wine. They only half filled their cups now as Lilith began to give the best drunken astronomy lesson of her life. She explained how Lathander made the sun and the planets in her world as well because the years were the same length and because the days were the same length and because the sunrises were ‘just as beautiful’.
Celeste seemed to understand most of it and was smiling and nodding in agreement while resting her chin on her hands.
“You look tired” Lilith said.
“I am tired. And Hot!” Celeste said with a bit of a stammer, fanning herself.
“Ok, come on, lets get a room for the night before one of these bozos does something dumb.” Lilith suggested pointing a thumb at the group of ‘gentlemen’ slowly getting closer to their table.
Her friend didn’t say a word she just nodded in agreement and stood allowing the table to support her before she took her hand.
Arm in arm Lilith and Celeste walked up to the bar asking for a room. Soon they were given a key that had a slip of paper tied to it with a string. Lilith grabbed the key curiously inspecting the label. “Room 3” it read. ‘Of course its room three!’ Lilith thought to herself before she turned for the stairs Celeste once again hooking her arm with hers for better support.
Going up the stairs Lilith noticed that her body was still as strong and coordinated as ever but her speech and thoughts were definitely hazy and slurred.
Celeste on the other hand was being helped considerably by Lilith’s outstretched arm while her other hand was on the banister.
On the second floor there was one room that was quite a bit more noisy that the others. Luckily it was room one. Their room luckily wasn’t next door.
They arrived at room three using the key to gain entry. Inside they found a decent amount of space. There was a cabinet and mirror on the left with a face wash basin and a large pitcher of water resting on a small table near by. On the right there was a single queen sized bed with fine quilts and four large pillows. Lilith had been expecting there to be two beds but by now she was 2 tankards past caring.
Celeste let out a yawn and began depositing her coil purse and spell focus on the small table. Next she took off her necklace which held a symbol of Lathander. Meanwhile Lilith kicked off her shoes and began undoing Celeste’s dress for her. Celeste then did the same for Lilith undoing the five or so buttons she couldn’t reach.
Then Off came the clothes in a shower of white, red, gold, cream, and black. Lilith finally took off her bra and her panties because she had been wearing them for 2 days now and didn’t want to wear them any longer no mater how effective prestidigitation was.
What surprised Lilith was that Celeste did the same thing while saying “So hot.” Off came her bra and panties before she walked over to the bed ready to collapse. Neither of them slept under the covers it was a warm summer night after all. Instead they laid there in one big pile of arms legs and a single tail, both of them too tired to talk sleep finding them sooner than either of them expected.
