Henry and Elithian were once great friends, before the incident. They were practically inseparable, one always at the other's house. They would cry and cry when they didn’t get to see eatchother; it was torture for them.
It was a late afternoon on friday. Eltihian’s mom, Katine, was having a BBQ with Henry’s mom, Scarlet. Scarlet had blackish dark purple hair. It was an unusual sight. They were at the park, so Elithian and Henry were running around playing tag and hide & seek (although there weren’t many places to hide.)
Katine was talking to Scarlet about gang activity, and how it affected Scarlet’s Husband’s work. He worked for a ‘clan’ / ‘organization’, though normies called it a gang although they didn’t commit any serious crimes, according to what they do. Usually, organizations can be divided into two categories: White hat, and Black Hat. Obviously, White Hat was seen under a good light, while on the other hand, black hat organizations were considered disastrous.
It’s important to note while White Hat organizations were seen in a good light, they sometimes commited less serious crimes. Though, these would be covered up or ignored as they did some grand deed like donating to charity or helping small businesses. They controlled the public's will by their actions, and in every organization, there had to be at least one mastermind.
Scarlet’s Husband, named Luther, worked in an organization that on the surface was a White Hat organization. But, below the iceberg, were norimies couldn’t see, they had connections to criminal organizations, money laundering, drug distribution, and much, much more.
In the public’s light they were considered angels.
In the underworld considered a powerful being not to be trifled with.
People who had loved ones inside the organization never knew what really happened on the inside. The loved one and the gang member could be killed if the member decided to spread information.
“I’m scared for Luther… boss wants him to assassinate a target… He’s never killed anyone! He’s not that kind of man you know?” Scarlet said, her lip quivering in fear.
“I don’t know how you can live with a man who is involved with that kind of business. He’s putting you and your child at risk!” Katine replied, shaking her head.

“I know I know but, I love him. I can’t just abandon this relationship. Hell, the only reason I know about this is because he told me while he was drunk. What situation would we be in had he not told me that day?” Scarlet said, a tear beginning to form.
“Wait, can you tell me again? It’s been a month since then, and my memory is foggy” Katine asked.
“Sure, why not. But remember, you can’t tell anyone. I’m sorry for putting you at risk by telling you a month ago, but my mental state then wasn’t at its highest, and the stress was unbearable.” Scarlet announced.
“It’s fine. We’re stay-at-home house-moms, I got your back! Us house mom’s have to stick together. You can always count on me!” Katine said, bearing a smile afterwards.
“Right, here goes nothing.” Scarlet cleared her throat.
“About a month ago, my husband, Luther, returned from work. He was drunk, as always. I had always been aware he worked for a white hat organization. In Fact, I praised him for it. But this time, it was different. He was crying, cussing, overly drunk, way more compared to previous nights. His entire body smelt like a mix of beer, vodka, and puke. Obviously, I immediately took him to the bathroom where I had drawn a hot bath earlier. He got in, and then, I asked: “What happened today? Are you okay!” I said, biting my lip nervously.
He burped, then began. “M-my bos-s he’s told m-e blech that abo-t-t the unde-gro-und… S-s-scarle-t-t I-- my-y organization ain’t-t W-whit-e h-at!” Luther said in a drunken haze. Scarlet could barely understand what he was saying.
“Hold on, let me get this straight: Your organization is black hat, and your boss told you this today…. Am I correct?” Scarlet said, hoping she was wrong.
“Y-ye-s” Luther said, burping afterwards.
Scarlet’s head began to spin. The group she and her husband were once proud of showed their true colors. Under the surface, a mobster lurked. What should she do now? This job was one of the only jobs her husband could get in today’s economy.
And on top of that, though she wanted to work, Luther promised at marriage not to ever let her get a job. He wanted her to live a carefree life.
“He’s such a gentleman,” She thought when they got married. Now, the story was different. She knew Luther was a stubborn man; almost never goes back on his promises’. One of the many reasons she married him.
But now, she was thinking about the future. Was it even allowed to tell outside normies about the inner workings of the organization? How it operated under black hat rules below the surface? Would she and her family be silenced?
She worried about her son, Henry. What would happen to him?
“Oh god…. What do we do?” Scarlet said, getting up from her kneeling position. A searing sharp pain irradiated in her head. She began panicking.
“Y-yeah, tha-ts what I-m wond-ering! I s-sho-uld jus-t qu-i-t!” Luther said, sitting up in a fast motion. Water spilled out the tub.
“What will we do about rent! It’s due three days from now, so we won’t be able to pay!” Scarlet said, pacing back and forth.
“B-bab-e” Luther said.
“Y-yes?” Scarlet replied.
“I-i migh-t gott-a keep i-t ‘y-a kno-w? I ca-re abo-ut thi-s I-i-i me-an th-is f-amily!” Luther said trying to nod his head in self assurance. He didn't believe himself.
“No! I won't put this family at risk! You’ve got to quit that job! You’re putting us in danger, not to mention you might lose your life! It’s unrealistic; a risk neither of us should take!” Scarlet yelled, losing her temper.
What followed was a long night of arguing.
