Halfway to the mountain

Halfway to the mountain

SOMEWHERE, POV: MAN PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS LUJAY

I was in the desert, on my knees. I dropped everything I was carrying on the ground. The temperature was unbearably hot. I have no idea where I am, or where I need to go. Just breathing in the hot air hurts my throat, feeling my body requesting for water right away. I took a look at the horizon in every direction. I noticed that towards the sun, there are mountains in the background. The direction where the sun is on my left, there are more mountains, however, one specific mountain has an ice cap on it. I decide to walk towards the ice capped mountain. At least you can melt the ice for water. I then looked in my immediate surroundings and found out that the land is fairly flat. The sand is thick enough that riding the bicycle isn't doable. The biome is a semiarid sandy environment with only dead trees. It's almost like a steppe, but with more sand and no green to be seen anywhere. Rocks can be seen sticking out of the sand at different locations. The dunes mostly form around the rocks.

After placing everything in the trailer, I place the bicycle next to all the gear in the trailer. The trailer connects to the bicycle via the seat and not the axle. If it was an axle connecting trailer I would have to abandon many things here. I end up pulling the trailer at a slow walking speed. By the time I finish drinking one of four camelbaks worth of water, it's almost sundown. I decide that here is just as good as a location for lunch. After thinking about how thirst I am, I remember that I can use magic. I have all the knowledge already in my head. I intuitively cast what I believe is a water gathering spell. After about 30 seconds, I gathered about 6 ounces of water in my cup. I am also starting to feel light headed.

At this point, I recall that my dimensional space also uses mana, but I don't know if they use the same mana. I felt that the mana cost for the dimensional space wasn't simple, and corresponded with how much space is being used and the max capacity for the dimensional space. It's tedious to think and organize my thoughts about this. I just know that I am slowly improving. (Author Note: Slow? Keep in mind this is POV)

I decide to gather nearby sand and store it in the dimension for sacrifice. Over the course of the day, I know my space will increase even without my intervention, I just want to speed it up so I can store everything in the dimensional space earlier than if I didn't intervene. I still had two fistfuls of compost, but realized it was automatically transferred out of the sacrifice section in my dimensional space. I think this happened because of the dimensional transfer. I still know that the worms are used to help with farming. Maybe this is a blessing? I added a little bit of sand to mix with the dirt for the few worms I had. I don't know what they eat, but I'll find out later.

It's now sunset, and I've drank about 2 camelbaks so far. I have 2 left with water. I need to drink slower. I got some rations from my dimensional storage. I used some mana to gather another 4 ounces of water. Before almost passing out from exhaustion and low mana, I chugged that water down, and filled all my free space with sand to sacrifice.

Day 2 : I woke up, and mister Sun was saying good morning to me. I felt a little thirsty and the day hasn't even started yet. Looking hazily all around, I hear noise in the background. I jump up and leave all my stuff here while I go out to take a look. I make sure to bring my composite bow and quiver of arrows with me. After walking for 30 seconds, I see a large scorpion the size of an elephant in the distance. It looks like it's attempting to dig in the ground. I decide to walk back to grab my sledge hammer. I know it's strong enough to break rocks, which would be more useful than a hatchet in all honesty. I don't know how strong the exoskeleton of the scorpion is, but it looks thick and strong. Walking up to the scorpion, I am behind it in it's blind spot. This also means that I don't have a clear shot to any vital location either. I decide that I am going to aim for it's joint where the arm connects to the body. I'm not going to say I have the best aim in the world, but when the creature is so big, if I can't even hit the creature...

So I get on one knee, take a breath in, aim the bow then arrow, pull the string back, and then I let go of the string. The arrow, well it misses the target. I don't even hit the creature at all. I take in another deep breath in, and repeat the same actions again. This time I hit the front middle leg on the left side of the scorpion. The scorpion's attention is moved over to me. I take aim again, this time I want to hit it's arm joint. While it's turning around, the claw blocks the joint that I want to aim at. Instead I aim for the front most leg on it's left side. After releasing the arrow, it lands between it's eyes. It's obvious that the scorpion becomes blind and goes into a rage. I clip the bow onto a hook on my body, then pickup the sledge hammer that has it's arm sticking up. I slowly move to the side of the path the scorpion is moving in. This confirms that the scorpion's eyesight was damaged. As long as I don't make large movements the scorpion will not notice I moved and change direction. As it's charging, I manage to side step it, however in the process, my chest is slashed open 1 inch deep 4 inches across. At the same time, I manage to hit it's front leg with the sledge hammer crippling it's front leg while changing  the second leg that was previously damaged to disabled. The scorpion is having an issue standing now, and I start to back off while it is crawling towards me. Even it's crawling speed is comparable to my running speed. I turn directions and charge towards the next leg, however while doing that I notice the movement of it's tail and I turn back just as quickly. I leg go of the sledge hammer, because I realized that I shouldn't have even attempting fighting this creature with that weapon. I've been lucky so far.

I lift my bow and start sprinting for a few seconds, then I turn around and aim at it's front right leg this time. I am too close and don't have time to aim properly. I miss my target and hit it's third right leg. I turn back around and start sprinting again. I knew I needed more time for aiming, this time I kept sprint for another 10 seconds. I turned around and aimed and focused again at it's front leg on it's right. I still missed my mark and hit too high on it's body. I had enough time this time, but I was out of breath from sprinting. I turned back around and started to run to check what's in my path. It was clear, then I turned back around after I caught my breath a little. The scorpion had cut the distance in half at this point. In 8 seconds the scorpion would be in attack range. I shot another arrow, and managed to hit the second leg on it's right side. It's not disabled, but it's definitely injured. I quickly shot another arrow and hit the third leg on it's right side. I needed to turn back around and keep running, however it was easier to hit a close target. I quickly aimed and managed to critically hit it's front right leg, causing it to trip on it's own legs and injuring the creature even more.

At this point, the creature wouldn't be able to crawl at a fast speed, I slowly aimed at it's rear right leg and managed to hit it. I circled around the creature and hit it's other legs, then shot it's arms' joints with arrows. When I knew it wouldn't be able to move anymore, I then had to worry about it's tail stinger. I aimed for the tip with my arrow. After being pierced by an arrow, it started to flail it's tail. I walked in front of the scorpion and aimed at it's mouth with my arrow. The scorpion wanted to roll over, but didn't have enough strength or the ability to roll over. I walked back to my sledge hammer, picking up loose arrows. I walked and found some that were a bit away too. After finding all the arrows that didn't hit the scorpion, I moved to my cart, pulling it over to the scorpion. I drank some water while I was at it. Too much running. After arriving at the scorpion, I used the sledge hammer to attack it's tail to loosen up it's exoskeleton. After knocking a dent in a few places, I grabbed my hatchet. I managed to cut it's tail off. Watching as it's blue-green blood drip down, I realize that I can drink the blood of this creature. I've gotten rather thirsty from all this running. Pulling out a bucket, I gathered blood from the creature. I drank a cup worth of it's blood, mixing with a mouthful of fresh water. I placed the excess blood on the trailer. I cut off some of this creature to place in the dimensional space for the worms. I then placed different parts of this creature into the dimensional space for sacrifice. Next, I ate some parts of the tail raw. I was satiated with this food. I don't want to store raw food on me though. The blood is already pushing it. I gathered my arrows back out of the scorpions body, then started back on my traveling path. Whenever I was thirsty, I drank blood followed by a little bit of water.

By the time dusk was hitting, I decided to find a spot to set camp. I drank some more of the blood, however it's starting to dry out. I decided it was time to get rid of it. I emptied out the blood, filled the bucket with sand, while using the sand as a scrubber to remove the blood residue from the bucket. I found a spot to sleep, and decided to make more water with magic. Today I managed to only use two thirds of a camelbak. Leaving me with a third and a spare remaining. My chest was still stinging from the encounter that I had earlier today. I had my clothing cut today, but it's not like I knew how to repair them. Pulling out a cup, I gathered water with magic. I managed to gather about 14 ounces of water before I wasn't able to continue. I gathered half an armful for sacrifice, and go to sleep feeling tired.

Day 3 : I woke up right before the sun could sneak up on me today. I decided to climb a nearby rock to check the nearby region. I didn't forget to bring my bow and quiver of arrows. I haven't damaged or lost any of my arrows yet. If I could find another creature, I'll have blood to drink. I was really looking forward to it. I felt like I grew stronger after drinking the blood yesterday. I went ahead and stretched, taking my time looking and feeling for nearby creatures. I noticed a small furry creature in the distance. It was a fuzz ball with long ears and long feet. I decided to wait to see which direction the little guy would go. So I sat, waiting to see what the rabbit would do. When the furry monster reached within the range of my possible attack range, I took out an arrow, getting it ready. It looked like the little guy wanted to turn back around, I decided to shoot an arrow over it landing on it's over side. If successful, I would be able to get the little creature to flee in the direction I am standing. I could then attack it accurately at close range. When the little critter got closer, I kept waiting. I felt like it would get even closer. At just the right moment, I shot my arrow. My arrow landed on it's hind leg. I followed up by shooting a second arrow, landing on it's skull. The critter weighted about 30 pounds. He went to retrieve his far arrow, then the arrows longed in the creature, and then carried the creature to where he slept at.

After collecting the blood from the rabbit and placing it in a bucket, eating some of the raw flesh, and packing all his gear getting ready for the day there was a momentary quiet rumble. I felt the tremor, and went to the closest high point to take a look of the surroundings. I saw a large four legged bushy creature with anglers far away running horizontally across his field of view. That creature looked like a hybrid of an elephant and a deer, weighing probably around 1/2 ton. It was being chased by 2 wild dog looking creatures 1/4 of it's weight. Even if I had 5 of me, I wouldn't be able to take down just one of those dogs. He kept waiting for a while. When he thought the coast was clear and was ready to move away when he felt vibrations again. This time, I kept my body low to the ground to minimize my silhouette. I saw the two dogs from before more leisurely moving back to where they came from. The road they darted across liked like an actual path. It was an animal trail that was frequented by many animals. I ended up traveling to the trail. I didn't want to be seen down the trail darting across, so I had to be careful. I kept my body low to the ground and moved across with my wagon. After arriving at the other side, I leaped over the dune on the other side. I heard some rumbles on the ground. I needed to dig a hole and hide. I buried and covered my trailer wagon with ease. Throwing the blood and carcass of the bunny 30 feet away. I then instantly buried myself in sand as the sounds got louder. I heard something, then a crunch. I decided to stay inside the sand.

I kept waiting. 30 minutes must have passed, but I still haven't heard any noise. I was still scared that the beast was still hear. After another 5 minutes I heard the sounds of foot steps that sounded like a creature walking away. I kept waiting. After another hour, a quick whistle like sound left the area. I felt this time, that the creature left the area. After a brief moment of hesitation, it was time. The carcass that I tossed away wasn't even touched by the creature from earlier. I still didn't want to touch it, it might be a trap. I pulled all my stuff out of the sand. After looking for my bearing, I saw the mountain with the ice cap and knew which direction to travel. The background was slowly getting easier to see. It was getting larger. I didn't know what to think, I only had a single thought, that's where I need to go for more water. I didn't have many thoughts, I've only thought about getting out of the desert and to look for water.

Night arrived. I decided to do my normal routine, make as much water as possible, drink it, pass out from mana exhaustion. I managed to produce about 16 ounces of water today. I gathered a small armful of sand for sacrifice. I usually pass out after maxing out my space, and figured I didn't make enough water? I ended up filling another 2 ounces into my camelbak. This time I passed out without issues.

Day 4 : I woke up at the same time as the sun coming out. I did what anyone could have expected. I checked the area for danger. No danger or prey. I went to my supplies, and thought about moving some of these supplies to my dimensional space for storage. I went to my first bag to grab some items, e.g. silverware, cup, plate, bowl, and some clothes. I kept moving items over until I ran out of room. I didn't really a priority of which items, just that it had to be from bag one or heavy. I don't really remember why, but bag one is important. My storage space is the safest location for any item. It was time to go now. While moving, I could feel that the weight of the trailer was just slightly lighter just as I myself am just slightly stronger. Nothing was special so far, however when there was still an hour left until dusk, I officially ran out of water.

Dusk arrived. Not having any water left was very dangerous. I was feeling I didn't prepare enough, however I thought that the water magic was going to be plenty before I arrived here. I never have enough mana to make enough water. I decided that from now on, whenever I have free mana, I would make water and place it in my camelbak bladder. I need to drink water as slow as possible. Managing to produce 26 ounces of water before passing out. I didn't drink any of it before passing out.

Day 5 : I wake up thirsty. I drank water, and then started to gather water in the camelbak. I didn't notice the sun was already out. After gathering about 20 ounces I feel it's enough for now. I then gather some sand for sacrifice, then realized I don't have much space. I placed two handfuls of sand into the space. I then gather 8 more ounces of water, until I almost hit mana exhaustion. Oops, I don't want to feel this sluggish from low mana. I started to travel towards the ice cap mountain. I just kept walking.

5 hours later, it was right before noon, then I feel a rumble on the ground. I was worried, so I got on a nearby hill to hopefully learn which direction it's form. I then see a large deer with antlers the size of an elephant running horizontally across the desert followed by 12 dogs that are each a fifth the size of the beast. The deer looks to weigh about a half ton. I was very scared seeing all those wild dogs. Once the coast was clear, I went to my trailer then continued my travels.

After 10 minutes, I arrive at what looks like an animal trail. I think this was the path I saw those animals from earlier. After I crossed the path, I hear rumbling once again. I was panicking at this point. I pull a sheet over myself, find the shadow of a nearby dune, and cover myself as best as I can. I think I have 10 inches of sand between me and the air. I have a good sized pocket of air around me. I'm attempting to relax my breath. I'm out of breath from digging, but I also need to hold my breath, so I just breath in and out as quietly as possible.

I feel like the rumbles are right on top of me now. The rumbles stop, I know those animals found me. I just kept quiet. I'm going to wait. After waiting for about an hour, I feel like maybe I'm crazy. Luckily, my camelbak bladder has a tube for me to drink water. I don't even know if I'm waiting here for nothing. After 2 more hours go by, I hear more rumbles. Again the rumbles just stop nearby. After some barking like sounds it sounds like super loud rumbles are leaving from this point. I don't know if the coast is clear, so I have to stay. I'll wait until I hear rumbles that don't stop. Again I hear rumblings, but there are no stops this time. After 30 minutes, I was about to check the outside, I hear a soft rumble that sounds like someone left. At this point I have sweat coming off my back now. I knew it! There was indeed something waiting for me. It must have grown tired, and gave up. I was lucky I think. It's time to leave. I get out and look at my trailer. I can see a few bite marks on the metal parts of this. I don't know if I should laugh, but the tires were not touched.

Dusk arrived 4 hours later, I gathered 16 ounces of water and drank half of it. I went to sleep in peace.

Day 6 : I woke up before sunrise today. I gathered 20 ounces of water, I gave 2 ounces of water to the worms. I then traveled towards my special direction again. I feel like the ice capped mountain is getting closer and larger, but it's still so far away. I feel like it's bigger, but I don't know by how much. I don't even know how long I've been in this desert for. I just know I need to walk to the ice cap mountain. I saw birds in the air at this point in time, and they are going in circles. I felt like there must be something on the ground over there. I didn't even question whether it would lead to danger or not, and even if I did, my curiosity would get me to try anyways.

As I was approaching, I realized that there were a few ape like creatures on the ground. When I got closer, I could see 14 animals laying on the ground. I didn't know what type of animal to call myself, but If I still had my memory I would have recognized these creatures as homo-habilis or homo-erectus as I've seen on the internet before. Some of these bipedal creatures looked more ape like while a few looked less ape like. There is one animal in particular that have short rabbit ears and don't appear to be an ape descendant. These people are only wearing skirts and footwear. These people all have fatal injuries it appeared. I've noticed they don't have items or supplies, so I can't steal anything. As I approached, I was being eyed by a few of them. I wasn't planning on stopping, but soon enough one of them start charging at me at a full sprint. It's not like they are sprinting at full speed to be my friend. I have a poncho-like thin robe covering my body. I open the front of my robe, and draw my bow. I grab an arrow from my quiver and aim. I shout out a yell while taking an aim at the sprinting crazy ape. With no response, I shoot the arrow and managed to shoot their left eye. After being hit, the ape fell down on their back. I notice that my shot wasn't a kill shot. I went ahead and shot another arrow on their neck. I'm just patiently waiting for them to bleed to death. After waiting for about 20 seconds, I grab my large sledge hammer. I then smash their skull in being careful not to damage my arrows, then retrieve my two arrows. I clean off the blood in the sand and put the arrows back into the quiver.

After staring at the rest in the group that the ape came from, I go back to my trailer. I start walking in the same direction again, however I turn by about 45 degrees, to walk around this group. The group wasn't too far off from the original direction I was going anyways. Their group's location was only 15 degrees off from the course I was originally walking when I was walking in the direction of the mountain. I continued walking without turning to gaze back. After about 5 minutes, I realize I'm being followed by 2 individuals from the earlier group I came across. I don't have any disagreement with being followed, for as long as I am not a target of an attack.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

Dusk was approaching soon. I stopped walking. I picked a location near some rocks, and make camp. As I sit down, those other 2 hide. I'm going to ignore them. 10 minutes go by. The two stood from their hiding spots and approached. Until the distance was 8 yard, the two didn't stop. Once they stopped, I had a good look at these two. The light gray fluffy rabbit person was 5 foot 6 inches tall, with slightly wide long ears reaching 10 inches long on short shoulder length hair, red ruby eyes, and was wearing a dark brown slightly tattered leather skirt. The dark tan lightly furred ape person was 4 foot 10 inches tall, with shoulder length hair, green eyes, pear shaped body, and was wearing a light brown heavily tattered leather skirt. The bunny took a step forward and started to make talking like sounds with a few growls mixed in. I had no idea what the person wanted to express, I just continued to stare at this person like they were an idiot. At first I didn't know if they knew I don't know, but I now knew that they don't know. I just continued to wait while wryly smiling. Upon seeing the bunny's head point of view moving to the floor and the lack of noise, we both knew now that we both can't talk to each other. This time, the little ape attempted to communicate after witnessing the bunny's failure, there being a few grunts and a harsh and soft voice, the same situation happened soon after. The little ape appeared to be more child like after some observation.

I decided it wouldn't be too bad to share a little of what I have. I wasn't dead yet either. I took out a small silver cup from my dimensional storage, gathered a few ounces of water with my magic, then handed over the cup to the little ape. I noticed the little thing was really excited when I handed over the cup of water. I watched as the little ape merrily drank the water. The small cup was handed back after the little ape was staring at the now empty cup for a few seconds hearing a small chuckle afterwords. Once I had the cup handed back to me, I started to gather some more water in front of their eyes. Before, I had collected the water while the cup and my hands were still under my robes. The both of them saw my magic and they both shrieked. Being startled from the shriek, I saw that they both started to kowtow. I felt bewildered watching them. I didn't know what to do, but then decided this was annoying. I moved the cup into my left hand, snapped my right hand's fingers, and then moved the cup into the dimensional space. The two kowtowing fools sat up looking funny at me, as if they were surprised from the snap noise I made with my fingers. The little ape tried to copy the snapping noise I did with my fingers, but wasn't very successful. I did think it was a little funny to watch, but decided to get them off the ground first. I placed my hands around their shoulders to get them to stand after making a gesture with my hand that looked like a mix between a come here, you may rise and hurry up. I grabbed the cup from my dimensional space and handed it over to the one with the long ears. After long ears finished drinking the water I was given the cup back. I went ahead and stored the cup in my dimensional space. I grabbed three plastic baggies with dried fruit in it. Each bag contained some dried fruit morsels or slices. The variety included : raisins, tomato slices, banana chips, strawberry chunks, pineapple bits, and peach cubes. I handed out a bag each to the two others while leaving the last bag for myself.

I took a seat, while the other two were still standing. It's not like I care, they can do what ever they want. Soon, the other two also sat down. I just tossed a raisin in my mouth to enjoy. I could hear what sounded like quiet and suppressed happiness being emitted from the two here. At some point, I started to stare at their antics. After they finished the fruit, I watched as the bunny started to play with the plastic baggie that the fruit was inside at first. When it looked like she was about to place it in it's mouth, I went ahead and took it out of it's hands. I didn't know how to explain, so I put some sand inside the plastic baggie to show that the plastic baggie was to seal and cover. I immediately saw a twinkle in the eyes of the shortie. It was time for sleep, so I laid out a sleeping bag, went inside laying on my back.

Day 7 : I wake up feeling light movement. I wake up and realize that the little ape is sleeping in the same sleeping bag with me, and the bunny is sleeping just an inch away. Also it's not like I intentionally checked, but one of my hands discovered that the little ape was a male. I figured that the little guy was probably just cold at night, hence the appearance in my sleeping bag. When I turned around after sitting up I saw that the bunny was awake. I moved my hands towards the bunny and as my hands reached for the skirt, the bunny was confused while looking at me. When I flipped the skirt, the frightened kitten was frightened like a little kitten. I had flipped the skirt, and sure enough. The bunny was also a man. I ended up laughing, because it's not like the gender of these creatures ever mattered to me. I went ahead and got up. I lift the little guy out of the sleeping bag, waking him up. I roll up the sleeping bag then load it on the trailer. It was sunrise at this moment.

I decided that I would teach these two what I do, so they can be of use. I almost forgot to bring my bow and arrows. I then think about other things and hand the sledgehammer to the bunny man. I hand a box knife to the little guy. We arrive on the top of a nearby hill to investigate the nearby area. I tried to get them both to take a knee, but they both just looked at me confusedly. I was impatient, so I force one of the little guy's knee to touch the ground. I then went on one knee as well, then stared at the bunny man. Sure enough, he got the clue and took a knee too. I then scan the surroundings looking for anything like prey. I see a scorpion, It looks familiar, but I don't remember where I've seen one before. I get their attention, point towards the scorpion in the distance. It looked like they where surprised seeing it. I then point in the direction the scorpion was going to go, point at the scorpion then slowly moving my hand in the gesture the point was moving stopping where I pointed previously. I then point at myself and then that point again. I didn't try to explain anything more than this. I stand up, while bending at my waist and knees to stay low to the ground, and start to jog in the direction the scorpion was going to pass by soon. Once I landed on low ground, I started to jog in a more comfortable posture. When I reached the location I was aiming for, I made the gesture for the other two to hide behind this bolder. I move over to another bolder. The little guy stayed like I asked, but the bunny followed me to the other bolder without a care in the world.

I was waiting with an arrow and bow in my hand. I knew the direction the scorpion was going to come in from. It wasn't moving at a quick speed either. As I saw the scorpion coming over, I took aim at the center of the scorpion to where it's eyes were. I managed to shoot the scorpion in the eyes. The scorpion was startled and in pain. It didn't even know which direction the arrow came from. I don't know how I knew this information, but I knew a little bit about this scorpion like I've seen it before. I knew I hit both of it's eyes with that arrow. I knew it has some 5 pairs of smaller eyes on the edge of it's top side near the arm joints and that they were small, however I didn't know these were practically blind. I took aim again and managed to land a pernicious, critical and disabling a.k.a. lethal, hit on it's left front leg. The scorpion still didn't know where the attacker was, however I shot another arrow aiming at it's left second leg. I ended up injuring it's 3rd left leg. I shot another time injuring the rear left leg. The scorpion started to turn in his direction, using it's claws to help it turn. I took aim and shot 2 more arrows. one arrow managed to injure it's 3rd leg some more, and the second arrow managed to disable it's 3rd leg. I saw that the bunny man with the sledge hammer was on the right side of the scorpion. I knew from last time that was very dangerous. I decided to shoot at it's tail. missing two more times, I manage to hit the tail. At the same time I hit the tail, the bunny man landed the sledge hammer on the scorpions rear right left, removing the leg altogether while injuring the 3rd right left. Soon the bunny man backed off and retreated from the scorpion like he's done this before. The scorpion was unable to move, and this was soon wrapped up. We eventually killed the scorpion. I went to collect the 2 arrows that missed the scorpion that was out in the distance. I then have the two leave with me, so we can bring back the trailer. I have them both help me push the trailer back. I got out a hatchet, 2 large bucket, and a few knives. The bunny man helped with harvesting the blood and placing it inside the bucket. We butcher the creature up.

We had collected quite a bit of blood, around 150 ounces. It's a chunky mixture, but it's better than death from thirst. He then de-shelled the legs, then sliced them into chunks. As I finished slicing the chunks, the bunny man would carry the meat to the second bucket. After the bucket was filled, I grabbed some of the fresh meat that wouldn't fit in the bucket. I handed some to the bunny man. The little guy was also given some of the raw meat from me. For some reason, I felt uncomfortable watching the speed that the two ate their food. It's not like I knew what refeeding syndrome was, but I decided that this was enough food for them for now. I decided that we'll eat again at noon. The both of them were looking at me with hope in their eyes, waiting for more food. I ignore it. I went and grabbed a bowl. After drinking some blood for my self I then filled the bowl with blood again, I gave the bowl of blood to the bunny man. Watching the bunny man drinking the blood in an instant, I knew these two guys were probably very thirsty and hungry. I couldn't tell how skinny these two were, because of the fur on their body. I then grabbed a second bowl of blood and I see expectant eyes from the bunny man. I walk up bringing up the bowl of blood to the bunny's mouth. Every time the bunny made a loud slurping sound, I would stop and make a quiet shush sound next to his ear. He got the clue after the 4th time and drank the rest slowly and quietly. I then gave a quarter bowl of water. The little guy was apparently very intelligent, because the little guy knew what I wanted. After one and half bowls of blood, I also gave him a fifth of a bowl of water. It was time to continue the journey.

A few hours later, it was now a little after noon. This was the perfect time to take a break, and have some lunch. We each had 1 helping of raw meat, drank 2-3 bowls of blood, and washed it down with a little bit of water. I then decided we should have some of the dried fruit as well. I retrieved 3 raisins for each of us to have a single small raisin. The two seemed very happy with the sweet treat. When it was time to go, the both of them had a face that said they didn't get a long enough break. I don't care, let's go.

An hour later, We had reached an area that was too flat with no sandy hills. It looked like from here on out there would no longer be differences in terrain. When there was only about an hour til dusk, I decided we should dig holes to sleep in. This will keep us concealed during the night. Looking at the ground, it hand little sand, and looked more compacted sand. I wonder why the soft sand dunes don't settle in this area. I pulled out a round head shovel, and showed them how to dig with it. I would stand on the shovel to make the shovel go into the ground, then use the handle to loosen the ground, and then lift it up. I don't want to make a pile of dirt, but I'll scatter the pile after we finish the hole. The other two are just watching. I know they don't have any idea why I am doing this, but that's fine. It was about dusk, and I had made 2 holes. The first hole was only 8 inches deep and just large enough for us to sleep in. The other hole was 2.5ft deep, enough for the trailer to hide. I unlocked everything off the trailer and folded the trailer. The trailer was collapsible by design, and I stored it into the hole. Everything had almost fit in the hole, I had to make it a little bigger, and then it was done.

It was dusk after 2 hours of digging. I got out his sleeping bag and pillow, and laid it down in the first hole. I grabbed the bucket of blood and shared the rest of it for everyone. They were out of blood at this time. I then placed some dirt into the pot, to clean the bucket as best as I could. Did the same for the bowl. I had then shared my water too, and didn't forget to give some water to the worms, dropping in some food too. It was time to spread the dirt from earlier evenly over the ground. The then had some food, letting everyone eat as much as they want. It was time for sleep. You might wonder if wasting 3 hours is worth the hole, but I think it is. I don't want to be attacked in the night. I went ahead and laid in my sleeping bag.

Day 8 : I woke up to loud noises. Peaking out the hole, I could see a large fire a distance away. I didn't want to leave, and it was too dark to do anything even if I wanted to. I could feel the two fraidy cats clinging on to me. I went back to sleep without issues. I continued to sleep until right before sunrise. When I woke up for the second time this morning, I looked at the pillows of smoke from the distance. I found that the direction of the smoke was the same direction as the large fire a few hours prior. I got up, pulling the two off my sleeping bag, moving all the supplies out the holes, and then packing up. After about 20 minutes, I was ready. I got some of the food that we had left from yesterday out for us to eat. The other two are still laying down on the ground. I guess they aren't eating nor do they want to follow. I guess I'll just leave them. I started to walk away pulling the trailer towards the ice capped mountain. The fire was in the direction of the setting sun, which isn't in the same direction. While walking, I started to gather water into my camelbak. I produced near 30 ounces of water before I stopped. I drank 20 ounces and gave 4 ounces to the worms.

Around lunch time, 7 hours later, I stopped for lunch. When I was done eating, I saw two frantic familiar creatures. The two run up to me and start crying. I can tell that they were doing some running. I'll give them some food for now. The two are taking turns to push the trailer while I'm pulling. Pulling this trailer is getting easier everyday and my walking speed has been slowly increasing. Around the time that there was about an hour left before sunset, we stopped moving. It was time to dig some holes again. It took about 2 hours and 40 minutes, about 11% faster saving about 20 minutes. We ate as much as possible before the food completely spoiled. We finished off as much food as we could. I produced 30 ounces of water, splitting the water between the three of us. This isn't nearly enough water. I then produced another 4 ounces before passing out.

Day 9 : The sun woke me up this morning. There were no noises in the background this night. I woke the other two up, we packed everything up. I produced a few ounces of water for the three of us to wet our tongues. I stood on top of my trailer, trying to get a better look afar. I see three scorpions in the distance. We can't hunt that many at once. I also see a herd of camel like creatures. I soon notice there are people like creatures riding the camels. The herd of creatures appear to be moving slowly, but I notice that they are paying attention to slower moving creatures walking on foot behind them. They appear to be tied up with rope on their arms. I think that if they spot us, we will not be able to out maneuver the camel riding people. They are about a mile away and are forward-right-right (north east east) from us. They appear to be heading forward-forward-left (north north west). I bet they are traveling slower than the speed I'm pulling my trailer. I have four choices.

1. Don't care, just keep going in my direction. They will see me, but I don't think they are going to chase, attack, and loot us.

2. Hide where we are, wait until they pass, and then continue the journey. They might attack us on sight, and will be best to play it safe. There are no other locations to hide.

3. Let's travel around their front. We are moving quicker than them. The people in the front are paying attention to the people behind them. If they see us, they can catch up to us easy enough though.

4. Let's travel around their back. We can save some time versus hiding, while staying away from their front who have good eyes. The slowly moving people in the back aren't going to notice us.

I feel like the last option is the best choice. There is another two options, one of which is straight up attacking them, and the other would be me asking or trading them. However, the last option would require me speaking their language. I have the other two follow me to the trailer. We are going to pass behind the herd. We are about 2 miles behind where the herd of creatures passed by already. I could see 4 different creatures bleeding on the ground. I couldn't guess why they left behind 4 creatures. One of the creatures appeared to have been cut like the others, however it was wounded on it's torso rather than it's legs like the other three. This specific creature looked more human than bear. She had brown fur, bare torso, bare arms, bare legs, and had a human like face, shoulder length hair, amber eyes, and bear ears. Her claws were very thick with 2 inch long nails. She had her female breasts exposed, 2 different tattered skirts that were layered tan and dark brown, and simple leather strips for foot wear. She is 5 foot 10 inches tall, and looks to weigh 160 pounds. She appears to have a thicker build, but is currently malnutritious.

I could tell right away that this girl wanted to follow. The other three also had that look in their eyes, but I knew that they couldn't walk. This girl couldn't really walk either. I gathered some water between my fingers with magic to have this girl drink some. She just looked at me surprised for a moment. I guess having water in the desert is a blessing. After she drank some water, she did the same as I did, but with fire. I guess she wanted to tell me she was a fire mage. Actually this can be useful. She can cook the food from now on, or just give me the energy to make water.

It was around lunch time, 4 hours after this girl started to follow us. I could tell she couldn't walk much longer. We started off lunch with just a break first. I still had that food from 2 days ago, it's probably spoiled, but I'll go ahead and cook it if we can. I give some of the spoiled meat to the worms in my dimensional space. I then have the fire mage cook some of the meat. The meat doesn't smell the best, even after cooking it, but at least we will not get food poisoning probably. It's better than starving. After the meat has been cooked, I noticed this girl is practically falling asleep. I decided to make a spot for her in the trailer. She eats some of the cooked meat, and then share the rest with the other two. They are both going to be helping to push the trailer while I pull it. I produce some water, then we start off on our journey.

It's not almost dusk, and I start to dig two holes for our camp. Tonight we need a larger hole for our new friend. I spent the same amount of time as yesterday night making the holes. I have a new hug pillow. The fur on the limbs are soft and warm. The nights are cold compared to the day. I don't know the exact difference. I only know that it's cold enough where a sleeping bag isn't enough, but I won't die from shivering in the sleeping bag. So the four of us sleep in a huddle that night. I produce 38 ounces of water, sharing it between the four of us.

Day 10 : I wake up with a certain bear play biting on my collar bone. I call it play biting, but there is blood coming out. I knock her down and start slapping her but. She ends up waking up with tears in her eyes. I just let the blood drip on her face. She opens her mouth to catch a few drops. I don't know if she realizes, but she caused me to bleed. I then saw that she was shivering in pain, and I saw the festering gangrene like wound on her abdominal area. The cut from yesterday is starting to look bad. I decided to get some duct tape, and tape the wound. I could tell it was drying out, at least the tape could keep the liquid from drying in this heat. I'll beat her up and get my revenge once her wounds are healed and when I get to that ice capped mountain. I notice the other two were awake for a while, watching me holding down this wild beast. We set off towards the ice capped mountain.

Walking for a few hours, we ran into three wolves. I got my bow ready, while the bunny man had the sledge hammer ready. I shot one wolf in the skull as it approached. The other two kept charging. I managed to hit the second wolf with an arrow in it's front left leg. After shooting the third arrow, I hit the second wolf again disabling it's rear right leg. The third wolf was hit with the sledge hammer, however the bunny was body slammed by the dazed wolf. I landed my fourth arrow into the third wolf's skull, killing it. We slowly walk towards the second wolf and then kill it with a hit to it's skull from the sledge hammer. I retrieve and clean my arrows.

We are having the wolves bleed blood into a bucket. I have the blood placed into camelbaks to save some of the blood from evaporating. I then have the old meat from before tossed. We cut the new wolf meat into cubed chunks. Getting the fire mage to cook the meat is an easy task, it's just that the quantity of cooked meat that can be produced isn't much. I had everyone eat raw meat and blood. I also had the fire mage eat and drink as much as she could, so she could heal sooner. Everyone was satiated with a filled stomach.

We now had 2 buckets of blood, 3 camelbaks of blood, a bucket with 35 pounds of good quality cubed steak, and 5 pounds of cooked steak. With the help of the small ape boy, we cut the fur from the wolves. We didn't do the best job in the world, but this fur could be useful later. This endeavor took about 2 hours to finish the work on the wolves. We had a second small snack of raw meat before we started on our journey again.

Dusk was arriving soon. I look at that ice capped mountain in the distance. I feel like it's more than twice as large as it once was. The journey is starting to get to a close. I wonder what type of things will be seen once we get there. I can see some green plants on that mountain. I can see the base of the mountain now. It's maybe only a few more days away. While digging, I was moving some of the dirt to my sacrifice space. It helped the process of digging. I was able to keep moving in sand every 30 minutes while I was digging, saving 10 minutes of work during the entire process.
