14 – Trailer Creation Begins

Mission completed 11117/10000: 25 system points earned.

Debts: 995 system points left.

"So that's why," I thought. When the system gave me this mission, it took into account my debt to it.

Now that I had my system points, I could start working on my trailer.

The only trailer I remember perfectly is the launch trailer for PS5 and PC, which I thought was awesome and watched dozens of times with the hype of remaking it on PC.

However, the problem was that the trailer was based on the assumption that the vast majority of people had already played the game, which was the case back then, but not here... I thought for 5 minutes.

"Mel, is it possible to modify the trailer using the system software?" I asked.

~Absolutely, host. You'll have less freedom manually, but if you write good prompts, I think you can do whatever you want.~

"Can you read my mind?"

~Partly. I don’t see everything in detail. After all, we are only one, Arthur.~

"Don't say that, it sounds weird," I said, laughing. "Then pull the trailer from the one I was thinking of."

~Are you sure? 25 system points will be deducted.~

"Yes," I confirmed.

25 system points deducted for creating the trailer for 'The Last of Us Part I - Launch Trailer | PS5 Games' - Estimated time 1 hour.

Perfect, now I'll have plenty of time to let everyone know that the trailer will be out tomorrow, I thought, and started working on my social networks and Steam account to set up a timer.

Since it was quite late and Hylia had to stream, I decided to call her.

"Hello? Who is this?" asked a female voice on the other end of the line.

"Hello, how are you? This is Myth. I've got some news for you."

"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't recognize you; this is the first time you've called."

"I know. I just wanted to let you know that a trailer will be released tomorrow evening."

"Sounds great! I'll watch it with my viewers! I can even bring several streamers together to form a group. After many people saw me playing your game, lots of them tried to contact me to get in touch with you."

"I see. Tell them I'm not available. I don't need anyone else, I just need one person for the spark."

"Yes, I understand. Thank you again for choosing me," she repeated.

"No problem. By the way, I'm going to give you a sneak preview of The Last of Us Part I, 12 hours before it comes out. The trailer will be released tomorrow. I'm counting on you."

"Thanks again! You've done so much for me. Please don't hesitate to call me if you have any problems!"

If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"Don't worry, I'm counting on you to do a good job. See you next time."

"You too!"

Hylia's POV:

As I hung up, I muted the sound of my stream and exclaimed, "Guess who that was!"

[Your father?]

[Your family?]

[Myth?]

[Naughty Dog?]

Looking at the answers, I exclaimed, "The correct majority was Myth, the creator of Naughty Dog! He gave me some excellent news!"

[Tell us!]

[When is it coming out?]

[Will we get an interview?]

"Some good answers in the chat! First, get ready! A trailer will be released tomorrow on all his networks. You can see he has set up countdowns, and most importantly, he's going to give me a key to the game 12 hours before its release!" I exclaimed.

[Let's go!]

[Your breakthrough, Hylia!]

[How much will the game cost?]

[Right, how much will it cost?]

Seeing the last question, I pondered and decided to send a message to Myth: "Sorry to bother you, many viewers are asking how much the game will cost. Have you decided?"

---

Arthur POV:

While I was adding up all the numbers my friends gave me earlier, I received a message from Hylia asking how much the game would cost.

After thinking about it, I asked Mel, "Mel, how much do you think I should sell the game for?"

~Considering the average price of games when they were released this year, it would be better to make a big splash by offering discounts.~

"What do you think about discounts?"

~For example, you could set a low price of 9.99 credits for pre-orders, 19.99 credits for the official release, and then the final price of 24.99 credits.~

"That's a good idea... After all, my goal is not to make money, even if I wouldn't refuse it. The problem is the missions. Don’t you have others?" I asked.

~The missions will be given to you when the time is right.~

After the system's negative response, I decided to send my reply to Hylia.

"Hi, during pre-orders, which will start after the trailer, the game will be 9.99 credits. Then, it will be 19.99 credits for 1 week, and after that, the final price will be 24.99 credits."

"Are you sure it's that cheap? You can easily sell it for more than 50 credits..."

"Yes, don't worry," I replied, watching Hylia's stream for a moment as she explained what I'd just said.

I went back to what I was doing, chatting with the friends I'd just added, all of them asking me questions about the phone I'd bought. The hour passed quickly.

System notification: The Last of Us Part I trailer has finished.

When I heard the familiar sound of the system ringing in my ears, I immediately got to work on the trailer.

First, I modified the warning text to make it more aggressive, so I wouldn’t get kicked off the platforms for not warning them. In place of the PS5 screen, I added "Myth Presents," followed by Joel stabbing the man in the leg.

After that, for all the times we saw Ellie, I changed the voice to first-person, so we didn’t really know who she was. I also changed the headlines, which normally had the date on them, to have my date and other information on them, so it would fit better into my universe.

Once I finished modifying the trailer, I moved on to communication, which consisted of setting a timer on all my platforms that would redirect users to my game’s Steam homepage. I also contacted Hylia to prepare for what she wanted to do with the streamers.

When I set everything up with the release of my game, it fell right into the next releases in mind, as I had prepared it for release in 3 days. I was getting a lot of traffic on the page from people who didn’t even know about it, confused by the timer that showed less than a day, bringing even more traffic with people asking questions.

---

Hylia POV:

The next day, a group of streamers was ready in front of their screens, talking to each other and to their streams, waiting for the countdown to end. Hylia looked at her chat.

[Do you think this will be the game of the year?]

[Made by an independent developer? I doubt it, but given the gameplay Hylia had presented to us, it seems plausible.]

Looking at her chat, she moved over to the other streamers who were talking among themselves.

"Do you think this will be the game of the year?"

"The way you sold it, we hope so, Hylia," one woman replied.

"We watched your replay 'Lia, and really, if the whole game is like that, there's a good chance it will be," another replied.

"It's going to bring a new breath of fresh air to this industry that's been crawling up its own ass..."

"You're right, Ju'. I've had enough of management or tasteless FPS games, but personally, I think it will be great to have FPS gameplay and storytelling if it's well-balanced."

A few minutes later, the timers reached a dangerous end.

"We're about to find out!" Hylia exclaimed as she watched the countdown reach 0. "Get ready!"

As the countdown reached 0, streamers and spectators held their breath in anticipation of what was to come.
