Chapter 11

The orcs and goblins twisted their heads to hear the sounds of blood, gushing onto the dungeons chilled dusty floor. Their eyes gawked at the scene before them, a demon lay overtop a corpse of one of their own. It’s eyes blazing with a deep darkened blue glint as it’s hood lay behind it, it’s body clad in a cloak. The dark helmeted figure was encased in a black sinister and ominous mist as it absorbed the mana of the fallen orc. It’s mouth, which was part of the helmet, curved up in what seemed to the orcs and goblins as a smile brimming with bloodthirst and euphoria.

It slathered it’s knife against the pale skin off the corpse, it’s neck pierced open, leaving the knife clean as he stepped over the corpse. Blood spurted in all directions as the red thick liquid began to coalesced into a puddle beneath it. The orcs and goblins in defiance yelled war cries as they charged at the demonic figure, their instincts telling them to run, being drowned out from the anger and bloodlust that consumed them.

The dark figure receded into the shadows, blade still in hand, as it lurked among the group of monsters that totalled to an even number of 14. 6 of them orcs, whilst the other 8 were goblins. The majority of them wearing loincloths and weapons such as daggers and maces. A goblin or 2 equipped with a bow whilst 3 of the orcs wore great big metal armour that covered their massive figures.

They came to halt at the demons disappearance. Silence ensued, only the sounds of whimpering and grunts that escaped the poor goblins mouths were heard. The orcs held expressions of arrogance and pride, their counterparts, the goblins, began to shudder in fear at the chance that death was right at their door. The difference in power, evident to them through the demons glare.

It was during this moment that the demon took action, a blade of condensed shadows emerged from the darkness, and with it, the demon. He pierced through the eye of an orc as it began to wildly swing it’s mace in a frantic manner, pummelling those before him. An unlucky goblin having it’s skull caved in at the great force that transferred from the orcs mace through its skull.

Its limp lifeless body flied through the air, hitting the wall of the corridor as cracks appeared around the crater. Blood and gore so apparent and sickening that it would make the faint hearted collapse upon sight. The demon dodged one of the strikes the orc made as he moved in and followed up with a two handed strike to the heart, twisting the blade upon entry.

He quickly pulled out and carried the blade as it soared through the air into another passing victim. He quickly switched it to a backhanded grip before it made contact against the goblin that lay behind him. He abruptly pulled it out and did a kick that swept the goblin off its feet as it clenched it’s pained wrist. The figure lifted it’s right foot that abruptly crushed the goblins skull upon contact. It’s corpse used as a stepping stone to leap upon the back of another orc. His knife plunged in past the collarbone of the monsters left side. It’s pained cries apparent but quickly cut off by the sound off the blade piercing through it’s flesh into the heart that lay deep within.

The demon kicked off the orc as it was catapulted into a small group of 3 goblins, 2 held bows as the other held what seemed to be a dagger. He instantaneously took care of the group in a flurry of strikes that were in sync with his agility and dexterity as the momentum carried his blade. The blade piercing through what felt to him as paper as the skin held no resistance, the vital organs that lay beneath a mush of gore and blood upon connection with it’s blade. He quickly dispatched the other 3 goblins spaced between the group as he dissipated once again into the shadows.

The remaining 6 orcs went into a formation that watched all their sides. Their arrogance and pride misplaced by the fear that the goblins once felt. Their eyes filled with resolve and conviction, their blood lust becoming more apparent as the seconds gradually passed by.

Movement.

The demon slid through the legs of an orc the moment it had blinked, catching the group of guard. The demon knocked it’s feet from underneath it as he followed through with a quick stab to it’s calve, negating its ability to stand nor retaliate for that matter as the muscles were mushed up upon recognition.

The other 3 orcs, still to slow to react due to the contrast of agility between them and the demon, slowly turned around. The first orc to view the scene had its eyes pierced, the demon following through with the death throes of the second as it was pierced in the neck, it’s body trembling on the ground in a violent manner as it lost its grasp on life. The last orc capable of combat stared in complete, and utter, fear. An emotion that monsters, especially an orc, failed to display to many others during combat. But that was quickly set aside, as was the orcs head, as it tumbled along the floor, hitting the body of the orc who had it’s calf muscles displaced. It crawled away as the demon dealt with the blind orc who threatened to smash the demon in it’s violent whirlwind of strikes. To only be left, on the floor, by the demons hands.

As the orc neared the corner of the other corridor, it spotted a small group of 3 orcs, just barely visible, as they strided towards the sounds of battle that were taking place, weapons and armour of even higher quality equipped in hand. The orc tried to yell in pleas of help, something that wasn’t common for its kind. But after being dispatched so easily and effortlessly by only one combatant who held a lower level. It’s view on the world had been tipped upside down.

The orcs looked towards the lone orc, hardly discernible as it lay on the ground, crawling past the corner of the corridor. They picked up pace as they began to near the fellow orc before a crushing sound entered their ears. The orc, that lay before them but metres away, crushed, at the foot of the black enveloped figure. Blood coating it’s figure.

It looked towards the group of 3 orcs as it wiped its feet onto the cold floor. The feet still tainted with the blood of the dead, but less distinguishable as it was before. As it walked over the cold disfigured corpse.

The orcs looked onwards, taking fighting stances as they too began to feel the grasps of fear that began to grip at the edges of their minds. Their bloodlust gradually being overcome by the instinctual fear felt by the figure. But, as they contemplated on what action to take during this moment.

The demon had already began to advance.
